Looks like you want to fight in the comments for no good reason whatsoever. Take a chill pill and maybe have some respect for other commenters. Everybody has their own opinions here, it's not an echo chamber.
She also saved a lot of people, the rest of the healers were incompetent. And nobody said she was innocent, but…
Just drop it, man. You clearly want to and are looking for excuse, not others' opinions. Though seeing how themes exposed here provoked a reaction out of you, the drama did good, lol.
Btw, if you wanna see FL actress fight like a pro, you can go watch her previous drama Unveil: Jadewind. She had…
Just as a warning, that drama is a different genre entirely - a grim suspensful detective drama with romance as a sub-plot. May not be everyone's cup of tea. But FL totally nailed it there.
She also saved a lot of people, the rest of the healers were incompetent. And nobody said she was innocent, but…
I'm not defending anything. The drama gave reasonable, historically accurate explanations why she was pardoned. And she's not the real villain of that case, her friend was and those mysoginistic healers who plotted plots instead of promptly healing people.
That other case you've mentioned is another story entirely. Women are doing this even to this day, they're called surrogate mothers, it's not a crime, just business. And if there's a family full of starving bellies counting on the money you'd make by any means, you wouldn't judge these women so harshly. No social security back then. And again, these women were not the real villains of that case, people who exploited them were. If you like black and white morality plots with happy resolutions, then you should probably drop this drama.
With how grand these characters' titles are, one'd think that sets would be more grand as well. A prince upon…
I just think it's plain lack of budget and maybe some other drama was being filmed on grander sets at the same time. In recent 2024-2026 historical dramas everybody used basicaly the same palace set and a few mansion sets.
She also saved a lot of people, the rest of the healers were incompetent. And nobody said she was innocent, but…
The minister there voiced your concerns exactly. You can blame the final decision on the emperor. It's not the first time in the drama he makes questionable decisions. Though here I'd say I agree with him. She only figured out a cure with very expensive ingridients and poor people still were waiting on it. The disease was still not eradicated and talented healers were in dire need. That emperor was always thinking of the bigger picture, instead of simply following the law to the letter.
And it wouldn't be out of the blue in any case. In ancient China major criminal offenses' punishments were sometimes changed to forced atonement labor. That's how many eunuchs ended up working at imperial palaces, for example.
Btw, if you wanna see FL actress fight like a pro, you can go watch her previous drama Unveil: Jadewind. She had an awesome character there too. Prob training there had paid off in Mo Li as well.
You all have seen nothing yet. Enter another woman who also was betrothed to our man...I mean how many people…
With how grand these characters' titles are, one'd think that sets would be more grand as well. A prince upon a prince upon a princess. I've read a good comment below about how tiny the empress dowager's chambers are. And in general, everything is like a chamber theater play. Def seen way grander sets in cdramas. The greenish color palette is nice though, some sort of theme def.
The morals of this drama are very crooked. The female technician was cutting into people’s body without any…
She also saved a lot of people, the rest of the healers were incompetent. And nobody said she was innocent, but the emperor decided to pardon her, so that she'd continue developing the cure as her atonement, and he didn't want any more deaths at the palace because of the disease.
Does FL really need to investigate whether SML died or not? She said herself she doesn't care for him. Let him cook, this doesn't really concern her. She should be focusing on the consort dowager and the edict.
Hmmmmmmk Qin Cang character is hard to read. He seems to despise his father and half brother (especially + jealousy)…
If he lays low, he can become the new marquis. His father and step-brother are trash that gonna get their due anyway. He reminds me of the main villain's forsaken second son in The Legend of Zang Hai. Though so far those two characters in TLoZH were way more nuanced and fleshed out.
I have been watching casually enjoying the main leads so not playing attention to the politics.I am on ep 19.…
SML got exposed for killing the investigator guy who investigated a big smuggling case. He tried to pin that on the marquis's clan. He got no way out but to fake his own death. Now he'll continue plotting from the shadows, I'd wager.
Ye Li suffers from PTSD, it gets manifested in her imaginary maid and assosiating herself as other people, like that martial arts master.
This show isn't hitting for me. This moment they have me and then another I'm lost, it’s not lost in a way where…
Yea, at times nothing really happens, slow domestic scenes. And then there are scenes where everything is fast paced and you gotta keep attention or miss something in a sentence.

Also, I think it's been mentioned he's the disgruntled younger brother of ML's friend?
