I wish ML was a real bad guy gangster struggling to become a better person and going straight, could have been more dramatic. There sure is way more room here for bad habits making funny misunderstandings and for character growth arc. But misunderstanding jokes were mild and ended way too fast, now it's all about running around FL in circles. And his character development arc had ended even before the show's started. He never was into banditry in the first place, probably got dragged into it by his father. And he's way too nice of a person overall, it's doubtful one can stay that way living a thug's life among thugs.
ML changing his name was basically because his mother ran away from his gangster father and was hiding his identity? That's why all these frequent relocations from place to place? But ML's father still did find him at the age of 16. Probably nothing good happened sinced ML ratted his father out later. No mysteries left here, however mild they were. All that's left is to deal with all the bandits that are out there to get ML and get together with FL.
So, did the prosecutor tell FL that ML is the boy? I think he did. He's too righteous to lie and he should feel grateful for the drug deal tip. (Dunno why he keeps acting like a cop though, it's not his job to catch criminals, his job is to prosecute them). And now we're in dumb angst phase. FL is acting up because ML told her doesn't care about her to keep her safe. ML doesn't know what to do with her, but is jealous.
I think someone said that in the novel, FL was rich but disowned by her family. I don't think she's rich here…
Her parents were poor and owed those bandits whom ML belonged to money. She's from a poor family and is still poor. She doesn't even have enough money to rent an apartment.
I don't like what FL is doing here - blatantly flirting with both guys and acting oblivious to their affections. It makes her look really dumb. I mean, dumber than she already is. Also, when's she gonna ask about prosecutor's childhood properly already? He wasn't so young as to not remember a girl he used to play around with in a certain neighbourhood. But he's not gonna tell her anything, is he? Because he's not the guy and that's not beneficial since he already got elevated status with FL because of this dumb misunderstanding. And what she's gonna do if the boy was one guy, but the man she likes is another? She's gonna follow that dumb childhood connection destiny? Of course she wouldn't, that's why it's so dumb in the first place.
And speaking of prosecutor, he's just getting on my nerves. So lawful good and so high on his horse, makes one want to retch from all that sugary unrealistic niceness and dumb justice.
Shallow as they come. Some dramas can squeeze twice as much coherent plot in 8 episodes, but this one still looks like a script sketch after 10. -Lacking any sort of realism to base this story off of; -weird character backgrounds, especially FL and her dad's; -cartoonish, exagerrated characters straight out of lalaland; -cheap, trashy and gaudy production. If this was supposed to be some sort of short modern take on a classic fairy tale it didn't do it justice at all. 5/10 at best.
P.S. If you want to watch something decent still airing go for My Sweet Mobster. But it's been a drought of good kdramas lately...
They are smart at what they do, and he gave them a position out of loyalty IMO
Loyalty is fine, but gotta be realistic too. If you give an XO position to person who's been a thug all his life do you think he knows anything about how to run a business? They do seem to be good with knives and scamming people, but how about having something resembling honest MBA degree or the like? Mafia hierarchy doesn't translate well into a business company hierarchy.
At first the prosecutor looked cute, since first time I saw him in not a villain role, but with each episode,…
He's just a nerd with justice stick up his *ss playing a white knight in shining armor. He misinterpreted what happened 10 years ago with ML's gang and now he's determined to ruin ML. And he got hots for FL because of her videos and just cuz she was nice to him earlier with a kid umbrella. And he's in no rush to dissuade her of her delusion that he's her childhood crush, probably gonna use it to his advantage to get closer to her. And it's definitely not him, if somebody's still confused.
There's a killer subplot here? Where? I've just finished watching episode 6, there's no killer subplot so far. There's a rival gang subplot and annoying third wheeling subplots, but aside from that it's all cute and fluffy.
Do any of the guys in ML's company have any sort of education that didn't end in school? Some didn't even graduate from elementary school? How are they all XOs and haven't ruined the company yet? 🤣 EDIT: Except the one who didn't attend FL's classes, cuz he's a lawyer already.
Annoying SML is dragging FL on purpose by not denying that he not the guy she's been looking for. Third wheeling here is annoying af, that clingy bish who's FL's rival at work is no better. I can tell it's gonna get even more frustrating with dumb FL going on dates with SML thinking he's her cringey childhood crush and rival bish gonna try to squeeze dates out of ML as well.
Kids creator job description is rubbing me the wrong way. The what now? Girls creating kids? Immediately you get a completely different picture, if you know what I mean. It should be kids content creators, ffs.
Haven't seen all the episodes yet, but why that annoying prosecutor is digging dirt on ML? ML's living an honest life now, giving ex-convicts jobs. Why that SML is actively working to ruin ML specifically? Isn't that the job for other organizations, like police? Don't prosecutors get involved only if there's a case? It just seems like a personal vendetta or something and he's got nothing better to do. The bulldog gang is out, he should be digging into cat gang that is still active.
Also, what's up with treating ex-convicts like convicts here? They've paid their debt to society, just leave them be. This sort of behavior only promotes the vicious cycle of them commiting new crimes since nobody allows them to have their place in society. ML's doing a good job, but looks like it's a real struggle.
Dumb and shallow drama, they could have done much more even with 10 episodes total. Also, FL starts to sound like an ingrate, she has a decent step-family, they're not like in the fairy tale at all, but she still always plays the victim. The fat sister was right to slap her. And while I admire her determination to get out of the gutter through shameless gold digging she doesn't look like she has much to offer to anybody. I guess she got lucky by catching the eye of ML who always needs to be entertained and has a weird taste in women. I won't even bother with ML, he's just a walking cartoon character.
The FL doesn't have any childhood connection with the prosecutor apart from when they met after the blind date…
Prosecutor is a red herring and unnecessary third wheel. But since they're going all in into this childhood connection cliche, I'm interested as to why would ML be changing his name? Was he really gangster's son from the start? Maybe even those same ones who hounded FL's parents? Or they adopted him after something happened to him, like cliche memory loss?
Why are they so obsessed with childhood connection/destiny in kdramas? A kid you knew in childhood may grow into a completely different and/or revolting person - he may become a criminal, an early father with 3 kids, a womanizing gold digger, etc. And destiny is just plain bs. I get that their target audience are women, but how young are we talking here? Naiveteens?

Is he even the gang leader's real son?
