I haven't been able to get ep 19 and bejond and they are supposed to be released daily. What's going on? I'm getting…
Welcome. I think it's very new site as there only past month dramas there and the site has only Cdramas. ( very innovative ! ) Can't comment to request to upload the rest of the episodes as the comment section doesn't support ! Hope you are tech-savvy enough to do that?!
Epi. 24 demonstrated that she could sacrifice her own happiness and that her love for him was not to see him in pain, hurt, misery, or any heartbreaks because she loved him more than he loved her or any other man again. Just as parents usually tell their children for their own benefit as they understand the bigger picture, (If, in the end, they do not wind up together, I am satisfied because of epi 24.)
you are nobody if you have no military power and no where near to the throne. Prince and princess are respected…
There has to be some token of resistance against people who roughshod others. (BTW, I don't read novels, as I want to “read” the drama to appreciate the story-telling skills of script writers, directors, and casts.) A small, significant satisfaction is better than nothing, as in Asian culture, an ill-mannered child slapped in public by a senior (the princess was older) is considered a badly brought-up brat, hence a disgrace to the family's name. Also, even if they don't have powers, @ Klie, they were representing the Shen family, and their uncle put them under house arrest. They should sow some seeds of discord by acting pitiful and "crying" and not kneeling outside to make their mother realize the Xues don't really respect her. Like the saying goes, “to beat a dog, first look at the master”. Their mother, the dowager empress, still looked through rose-tinted glasses at her brother, the Duke, and wanted the cousins to marry. But if they have a son, the duke can easily dispose of the son-in-law, just as he disposed of his eldest son.
What unbelievable incompetent royal pair of pushovers! Shen Jie was being a fool for if he was serious not to want the throne he should has himself as an uncontrolled, unpredictable and rebellious son. His mother needed him to carry on the Shen line as the emperor has no son. Making oneself the most inappropriate person was one of the 101 techniques to get out of a hate post. When his cousin Xue was labeling everyone as "rebels," he ought to have yelled angrily, "What brazen insolent," and denounced for being impudent and disrespectful of both him and his younger royal sister. Instead, everyone looked at him like a doormat. That was the ideal opportunity to refute that bland, submissive stereotype. Next the princess, another pushover, How could her cousin, slapped her best friend, FL? It implied that he hadn't given her any “face”and was insulting and atrociously rude . She should have stepped forward and imperiously slapped his face, and ordered him to apologize. Geez, as the emperor's younger brother and younger sister, they behaved like 2nd class citizens that nobody respect!
I am irritated to see her lying to her father, who is law professor of a university, and he can give her legal…
It can also mean that she cared not to trouble them with her problems and the $10 million debt her husband conveniently dumped on her. Her mother already has a health issue for which she had to seek early retirement, so her father already has a lot on his plate. Also, Asian children are taught to serve their parents and not to bring trouble into their old age. That scene of Wang Dafu giving money as a thank-you gift to them, but Mr. Han greedily pocketed all of it, showed she was kind, considerate, and understanding not to make trouble for even that creepy Mr. Han. Beside, she has already employed a professional lawyer, her boss, Ms. Fang, so there is no need to trouble her father for professional advice.
1 and only rule for cdrama: PASS CENSOR! Therefore, this drama is not simple and has more than meets the eye, as hinted by the ML. Moreover, clues were from the Analect by Confucius, who was born into poverty in 551 BC—-2000 years earlier than Ming, where conditions were much worse, yet he rose to success as well as relevance till today. Hence, underneath the simple clues were the themes of the drama, and that was why the drama easily passed through the censors. What the censors saw (uncovered in my review) should also be what the viewers should see!
I'm not sure I understand your reasoning regarding XB and LZ? I get what happened i'm just not sure what you mean.
XB was a prostitute son, while LZ was a beggar son. Both were low-born, but LZ killed for higher status, wealth, and power. While XB got his wealth on a golden platter, from the dry well hidden there was most probably the mute pension fund. The dry well, which young master Lu showed him when XB told him where they could hide from the fire, as he helped the drowsy young master Lu out of the burning room. He then studied hard and worked hard to become a magistrate.
I have included this conversation's summary in my review but I just wanted to post my opinion on the conversation…
He was pardoned by the emperor and appointed as a judge. He didn't expose the chief examiner and his incriminating actions against him and his friend, which is why he felt injustice as others believed he bribed his way back to society. The last clue, ”those who cannot serve the people, cannot serve the spirits” , I regarded as indicating that MW didn't follow the law that serves the people, for by taking the law into his own hands and killing the murderers, the spirit of justice was not served. He covered up for the murderers; the families of victims like ML didn't know about their despicable crimes. In the opening OST of Insects and the closing scenes in the last episode, life goes on, but if the judge and magistrate don't get what justice is, life moves on without people being aware that they have been shortchanged.
Mr. Song and Magistrate wei's conversation from episode 12In spoiler tag below
That scene at the graveside when the FL said it was easy to get the meaning of the clue, in which the ML contradicted her, hint that there were double meanings . He had to first ponder, "What is justice?” Like the coin, which has two sides (head and tail), if one is missing, it is counterfeit. Justice is to expose the guilty AND their crimes; otherwise, it is not justice at all. That's why he had no closure.
The last clue, ”those who cannot serve the people, cannot serve the spirits” , I regarded as indicating that he didn't follow the law that serves the people, for by taking the law into his own hands and killing the murderers, the spirit of justice was not served. He covered up for the murderers; the families of victims like ML didn't know their despicable crimes. Also, it was not a sweet victory; XB, a low-born boy, rose to status and wealth as he was handed a golden platter by his good deed, unlike LZ, who was killed for it. (He would have coughed out blood if he knew).
1. Captain Leng (CP) was not a principal man. He must unite his subordinates into a force to fight against gangs…
Yes, you are correct, that small frog is the big clue. Confirmation was when he made a deliberate move to his camouflage foolish mode. Another was the discovery that speaking was no problem for that guy ( tongue is the hidden weapon of frog).
And poor Siniang and Captain Leng. What a sad story.
I know, it's tough but he should be smart like LZ, and said maybe he found her unconscious and don't remember anything so he had to be the good Samaritan as he was the police/bailiff and gave shelter and food. Geez, if there is a will, there is a way.
And poor Siniang and Captain Leng. What a sad story.
But I felt angry, as he should had taken her back to his place and hid her, then gave her food. She was running away from hell, how can he let her go back there? He was entrusted to protect people from bad people. At least let her calm down in a safe place and food to eat for a few days before deciding anything.
My guesswork is mostly based on clues from the murder scenes and using the frog as an allegory.
1. Captain Leng (CP) was not a principal man. He must unite his subordinates into a force to fight against gangs and bad people. The frog first appeared on the scene when Captain Leng and Sanniang were discovered by Luzhi, who then wanted to kill L.Z., showing his true color. Frogs camouflage themselves for survival and eat insects. Frogs are carnivorous; drama in sarcasm:When man kills another, it is a "cannibal.Drama has a sarcastic sense of humor,as in the dig on dramas that used FL to dress as men. But, like the frog, who uses its sticky tongue to survive, LZ may also be able to talk his way to survival by using his tongue. 2. This refers to the fourth unambitious scholar of Confucius, who only wanted a peaceful life. refers to a man who initially studied for that but was forced to aim for a higher position in order to exact revenge. This was reflected in the bitter, furious hatred against CP's closed-eyed attitude, which forced him to abandon his dreams, making CP the first victim. A tadpole, when metamorphosed into a frog, cannot live under water again. 3. It took him 25 years to be in a position to exact revenge. 4. Peach Blossom Goddess had already explained in her thread. 5. In his youth, he had a lust for power and wealth. Referencing LZ, now like the frog, he shed his skin to turn into Mr. Xue. 6. Sangeng wrongly worshipped his master. Maybe CP caused the death of his watchman father. 7. Magistrate Wei was the most suspicious in Episode 10, in which suddenly a brother showed up for Mr.Lu, maybe the brother of the murdered student or the young LuBuyou.
