I don't know Chinese but when I looked up the script-writer and saw he was from Fukian where my immigrant ancestors came from more that a century ago ,was very happy for I knew the drama will not have OE. Do China still has this saying “ got head ,no tail ?” Also Cantonese is mixed in my blood and I don't speak it well, but I know if main leads are Cantonese they wouldn't like to do cliffhanger endings or OE.

Thanks for sharing. Look it up and saw that script-writer and main leads are all from the southern part of China as that war hero. Glad to think that they still remembered and proud of him.

I think it focus more on traitors/collaborators and the veterans played them superbly. Also since they knew that part of history it was not interesting to them but to people like me , I got my curiosity confirmed on why KMT didn't fight the Japanese when they first invaded Manchuria. Moreover the communists were portrayed as not that infallible.

You can feel like they unconsciously fell in love at 1st sight?!!People who lost their memories don't instincely and spontaneously called out to a stranger “husband”,,right?!! Something must has resonate within her likewise the ML as interogator/police don't response immediatelyand acknowledge without forethought as wife a bandit's concubine!! Most started out as “who are you?””Where am I? “etc

Right. Previous epi. had shown that he report to him as immediate superior.

Most commented that the ML dilly dally on telling the truth.For me to enjoy a drama I get the theme to understand and like the ML and FL. The theme is pretense.Characters created different image to get something.The ML viewed women based on his family background.His father's concubines and his cousin married for money,power and prestige. His mother was arranged/forced into marrige. He regarded LMT as being forced to be bandit's concubine after being kidnapped hence he wanted to sent her to temple, back to family home or married to a kind husband. However, FL was a forward thinking modern type who can live alone independently  without being married for she career minded. ML can't get that and drama felt like ancient thinking ML handling a modern thinking FL!!.Moreover he wanted the 2 most important women in his life not to see him like his father, a player. He can't confessed to be Lord Huaying for he was supposed to be in love with his childhood sweetheart and cousin and eventually married her. What was abhorrence to him was to be like his player father hence his self control and self discipline and till now not even a kiss!!
His parents played an important part in his mindset.Most people choose spouse to be somewhat similar to mother/father while in ML case, not to be like his mother.His mother has said he had a hard life. He grew up fast to be the little man of the house to protect his mother from bullying from concubines, his older step siblings ,maternal and paternal aunts and uncles and most probably never have a happy,carefree childhood.. The FL protected and gave unconditional love to him even as everybody thought he was a useless and spineless dandy.For once in his life he was living free and easy while being protected and given free rein from burdens of work,family pressure, household and financial wotrries- a useless gentleman of leisure!!

LOL! I'm meant he should asked directly what SRQ told her to made her upset by taking her in her arms and made her talk to him.She the one who said he should tell her everything and that should work both ways.

Its times like this that I wished PWX got back into his jealous husband mode and asked what made her so upset that she can lashed out to SY? Being too understanding is also bad ??!!LOL!!

I don't read the novel but from comments ,know many are dissapointed with the “whitewash” of SQR. I dont't see it as that for me one of the theme is anti-corruption, on how power corrupt people even so called scholarly smart type like SQR.I know it will have a HE for corupted people like SQR cannot have good ending.

@Saydoo ,Yes, some people don't ponder and reflect why they have a 2nd chance and hence don't learn from their mistakes. 1 of the many things I enjoy from this drama. @Crabavocado S,Y can see both side of things but not SQR even though he was suppose to be smarter than his elder brother.

What his family went thru. in the past -you mean the elimination of his whole clan? Wasn't that his fault?He tried to put Concubine Rou's son on the throne and LC eliminated them as rebels and castrated him so that the whole line was extinguished,right?
His way to preserving the aristocracy was contrary to ML and FL who favoured meritocracy. I think the system of government is something like England.The crown,, the House of Lords(aristocracts) and the House of Commons( meritocracy).

He makes things more difficult for himself. His family desired to remain impartial in matters of politics and nobility power battles. By moving to make Concubine Rou's son the crown prince, he intended them to ascend higher and gain greater authority. He knew the princess wanted her brother to take the throne, so sooner or later, he had to make a decision.Thus, his second concern was always the princess. In contrast, PWX never puts anything other than love—for his wife or his family—so there won't be any issues and no conflicts.

I blame Youko for airing this drama right after “The Double” where the FL clearly labelled as “villian” when her loved one killed her. No musing and missing the good old days together like in this drama. Clearly showed the marketing/PR team in Youku don't watch the whole drama before scheduling an airing. Pity , for I enjoy the drama and wish its rating were higher.

Another thing,FL is said to be lowEQ but people like ML and her brother don't communicate with her eg.her brother told ML the reason he conquered, was to protect her from marrying off to far away lands but he never told her that.Her brother said he was “tired” of their mother arrangement for his marriage.I think only in this present life does she has an inkling of his deep love for Qin Zhenzhen . If people don't communicate effectively ,how are you to understand them well.

Reading thru.some comments,some are not satisfied with FL as ML has to do all the chasing.Epi. 13, should solved these; when the FL provoked the ML to show some jealousy as she would like that to be shown when 2ML was first invited to live with them-put his foot down and not be “indifferent”.(his word from that rain epi. as no spouse like that to be shown ) FL thought her husband didn't love her anymore and don't care about that infidelity.
