yes, indeed - after Payback is over, we are screwed... kinda (plus or minus) - but hey, this summer was/is so succesfull in highly promising BLs (and they are many) that does not happen that frequently, right?
i mean everything is good if it is done well, no matter if era or sub/dom 🌞
lol, indeed, yes! it is rare, but it happend to me too before. I am more (with what you named) i don't mind or i don't search for it specifically, my requirements are it to be interesting and well done (quality). Then you can present to me anything and I will grasp it somehow. but if it is done weird (mostly if creators are not in to it in the first place), then it is probably only for those who are into that corner (heigh difference). Also... for mains to be same height it was really logistics - it looke better on the camera. when the heck become out of it a kink? :D (okok, i know, with bl in liveaction...)
Prosecutor Ju crying was not on my list! I love the acting and all the emotions that went out on the confession…
actually... i found it first time in a long time believable sort of cry from man, realistic very, not hysterical, just desperate - plus points for that

Oh-so-true... None of these was the first subtle sign that something was wrong with the overall quality.
Honestly, I'm sensitive to unnecessary comic relief. And I am sensitive to mood changes and emotional continuity. If a transition is too fast or not layered enough... then I see it. And I interpret it for what it is (not to confuse smooth with slow or subtle).
I think my first sign was that the atmosphere was two levels heavier/darker than the action itself (= the darkness of the visuals). The obsessive strangling of everyone, where there was no emotional weight to it for either the actors or the audience, and no actual reason for it in 90% of the scenes.
Also, if someone threatens another person's life and genuinely intends to kill them, where exactly is there room for a chat on the roof? (Yes, concepts like this were repeated too many times just to prove the story was logical—strangling, cutting someone's abdomen, attacking the "weaker one," and whatnot... Chae's meek side glance (3x), for different reasons, wasn't the greatest look, to be honest, but okay.)
The constant meekness... if it's your thing, fine. But unless it makes sense or stays consistent within the couple's dynamic (and ideally has a reason to be there too)... Some actions were overplayed, while others were underplayed (meeknesssss everywhere). Obviously not the actor's fault—someone thought it was a great idea to make him look stupid three times (one of which is debatable), then five more times for doing absolutely nothing, while most of the time he was behaving normally, and another ten times by making him forcefully submissive... etc.
Most of the time, in the grand scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal, but it sticks out because the story was strong enough not to need stupidities like that.
And the choreography of the "rough" scenes always included at least one ridiculous move. If my partner's head moved—bounced, swayed—like that, I would run with them to see a doctor to make sure they were okay and hadn't broken anything. Tae's overly action-ignorant babbling didn't help much either.
But hey, I still love the series. I would just clean it up a bit before sending it out into the world.
in currently watching? How is season 2?
