Sageuk Lover

I'm not aware the second part is out til now, I will watch the first two episodes tomorrow.

Rewatching this again, I know this was my childhood but having rewatched the first four episodes again just tonight, I think this show still holds up. New people watching this show should understand this will be quite different to the recent sageuks aired nowadays.

Since I want her to the star of her drama (not support for the male lead) I want an actor who is less popular than her. People like Yoon Hyun Min or Seo Ji Hoon (her male leads in Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter). If they need to be more popular or more acclaimed than her Kim Nam Gil (or Yoo Ah In if he overcomes his recent scandal clean), I like him since Queen Seon Deok. I also want a reunion with Lee Joon Gi (but hopefully after she has an acclaimed drama where she’s the main event). I’m not a fan of many of the super popular male lead actors but I’ll watch them if Chae Won acts with them. Lee Sun Kyun is someone I did like even before Payback (due to Parasite movie) even if I didnt follow him much so I appreciate him and Chae Won working together.

I did like Moon Lovers but I’m not a big fan of it unlike this one

i really wish she could comeback to sageuk, i really enjoyed her most in that genre.

I love Sense and Sensibility, thank you for that movie. Searching this guy's filmography, I feel like his films are very important to the filmography of actors as randomly grouped together as Kate Winslet, Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Yeoh, Heath Ledger, Tang Wei

Hopefully as this is a movie it won't get cancelled. Korean movies are usually less sensitive with scandals compared to kdramas for what I observed.

I was expecting a younger male lead, but Choi Soo Jong is okay. I like him in Emperor of the Sea, though I was more blown away with Song Il Gook in that show. Hope I’ll be more sold with him here.

Just finished, I like it. Really refreshing to see Kim Ok Vin, Yoo Teo and Kim Ji Hoon in roles very different from what I've seen them before. (Ok Vin and Teo were great in Arthdal Chronicles while Ji Hoon is amazing in Flower of Evil)

yes she did well despite the script giving her a "not so flashy" role.

Of all the deaths here, Ha Jin's death is the one I find most depressing. It's because I feel the love of her and Yon is really innocent and sweet, then the pain of her dying while pregnant (meaning the baby dies too). I really feel for Yon when he lost his wife and his only child/descendant.

Here to remind that the main characters in this drama are the historical King Jeongjo and his beloved concubine Seong. This is what sets this drama apart from the recent romance sageuks (around 2016-after). Historically, it did took a long time for the King to pursue this beloved woman of his, so that is what this drama is kinda following. Of course, they added some liberties and fictional elements in the plot.

currently watching now, i feel this drama will have typical plot but the actors they got are really amazing actors, just really curious how they act with each other.

I wish Moon Chae Won to make more dramas like this. Had a drama of this calibre aired in recent years, sure it will be more popular and more easily accessible.

i do agree that he should receive the appropriate judgement from korean police if he indeed disobey their law related to drugs. however, i don't think he should be cancelled as he never harmed anyone but himself by taking the drug.

The SBS ratings pertain to percentage of Korean watchers who watch the drama as it airs while mydramalist ratings are of any person who has a mydramalist account rating the drama however the way they want.

Done with Payback, hoping she has another drama or movie soon (preferable sageuk).
