I want Lee Joon Gi in this one. He's a great sageuk actor but I have yet to see him in an epic sageuk (exception is King and the Clown but that is a movie, as much as I think he'll do well in Arthdal that role is shared with another actor but I want him in an epic sageuk where he's the only actor for all the time the main character is an adult). His Arthdal costar (drama he's now filming) Shin Se Kyung is cast in another drama that starts filming in March which means filming for that will end soon, hope this means he has time and he might consider fiming this drama next.
How will you even watch the second season if you dropped the first one? The story continues from where it left…
the first few episodes are only difficult to watch because it was setting up the story, but the drama is picking up as more episodes come. If people are watching those long sageuks in the past, it takes a few episodes (sometimes even 10-15 episodes in a 50 episode sageuk) before the main character starts to rise up that's why Eunseom suffering in most of season 1 was there. i know this isn't just sageuk, but remove the fantasy in the show and if people watched the sageuks of these writers in the past, i believe the set up of this drama in season 1 and the first few episodes of long sageuks have a very similar pattern.

It's afternoon here but okay. I like how mydramalist comments are generally more respectful. I already blocked accounts here that says malicious comments. Thanks for respecting.

i think i got the terminology of "more accepting to backlash" a bit wrong. what i meant in my original statement is just because sjk lives in a country where having an imperfect lovelife more scrutinized compared to having the same kind of lovelife but lives in a western country means he deserves more scrutiny.

I just dont understand why someone deserves more backlash since they live in a country more accepting to backlash? 🤦🏻♀️. So many people coming to trash someone for a personal life when not every rumor about him are confirmed.
US/British celebrities get divorce many, many times (ex: Elizabeth Taylor). Some of them live with their significant others without getting married. Some date for many years, have children between those years then break-up without getting married (Ex: Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter). All these actors in the west still have a career and are respected for their work. Stop judging him for his personal life. He did nothing wrong.
"he wasn't super popular prior to DOTS"I'd argue that he was already popular since Sungkyunkwan Scandal. It's…
I know he was very popular prior to DOTS, what I meant in "super" popular was the popularity level he got after DOTS. After his charming performance in Sunkgyunkwan where he had many fangirls, I'm sure he got a lot of lead offers but I respected him more because he did the very challenging yet small part he had in Tree with Deep Roots in 2011 (granted he also had a lead role in movie that year).
