I’m just so glad that this drama existed to bring back the old sageuk glory days. Imagine 2021, some sageuks were cancelled, others had to refilm, yet this one with little expectations managed to give us that Korea can still make a historical drama that is based on real people, and yet still be accepted by Koreans and become a hit. The fact that it eclipsed many a-listers dramas (in a year where Netflix and other platforms are eclipsing TV) speaks of it’s quality.
I think fans of this drama who love the Hwi and Ha kyung (queen) together should check Painter of the Wind. The female lead's relationship with the gisaeng there is interesting.
I also have some questions that I can't seem to comprehend. Such as, why are twins considered ominous? Why can't…
She was the ruling Queen. In history she has a husband but in the drama I watched she didn't. She has no brothers that's why she became queen. In the drama, they made her and her historical real sister Cheonmyeong as twins and there was a prophecy in the show that twin birth is considered bad luck since all future sons born die. The parents decided to hide the other twin by ordering a trusted maid to escape with her because the political enemies will use this bad omen against the king and queen.

What do you mean, about the twins? i'm not really sure about the historical facts. But I watched the 2009 drama Queen Seon Deok (based on the real queen from Silla dynasty) and it's premise was that twin girls born in the royal family is bad luck which is why they kicked out the younger twin when she was a baby (take note that the real queen was never a twin and thus she never grew up outside the palace though). This is the reason I didn't question about the twin thing in this drama. I don't know about the real historical facts, but basing on both dramas I just assumed maybe Korea just see royal twins as bad luck (especially if ast least one twin is a girl).
Can someone spoil me if there is any love triangle in this drama? (I dislike most love triangles)
The second male lead likes the female lead but never forced his feelings on her. The second female lead likes the male lead and she was also considered as a bride for the female lead. The third female lead likes the female lead, and still liked her after she knew she was a girl.

I'm not really sure, but I guess ancient Korea are just against Royal twins? In Queen Seon Deok drama, the female lead was also born a twin and she was also kicked out of the palace for that. She was only able to return as a princess after her twin sister died. In King's Affection, she can't be a Queen because Joseon is a confucian society. Confucianism is very patriarchal society. Some previous dynasties before Joseon have queens (ex: the real Queen Seon Deok from Silla dynasty who wasn't a twin in real life).
Goodness, same with Lee Se Young, I first saw her in Dae Jang Geum. Even though her appearance was short but it was very memorable. I remember how her character was bowing down outside king's palace where Min Jung Ho was inside to say goodbye to him since she's already the king's woman due to being a palace maid. Same with Junho, while my prejudice against idol actors will be hard to remove (they usually got more hype and followers despite the acting talent which is super unfair to their non idol costars), he will always be one of the idol actors I will respect from now on.
