a lot of historical dramas that have been airing lately all star child actresses... they really are the best at…
What's interesting is that the they somehow played in their childhood a role very similar to their 2021 sageuk. Kim Yoo Jung was the child version of painter Moon Geun Young in Painter of the Wind back in 2008 before her present stint in Lovers of the Red Sky (in fact Lovers of the Red Sky is directed by Painter of the Wind director). Before playing a Goguryeo princess in River Where the Moon Rises, Kim So Hyun also as a child played a Goguryeo girl (albeit a minor character) in Ja Myung Go. Park Eun Bin has never played a crossdressing role before King's Affection (afaik) but she did as a child play a royal character in an early 2000s historical drama. In the case of our court lady Lee Se Young here, she also played a court lady in the 2003 hit drama Jewel in the Palace/Dae Jang Geum as the child version of Jang Geum's rival.
Seong deok im is her real name, royal Nobel consort ui is her title given by king Jeong Jo after she gave birth…
I don't exactly remembered how she was portrayed in Yisan but I hope it's gonna be quite different but still with lots of chemistry with the male lead like in Yisan. From what we're seeing in episode 2, I'm really liking the actors' chemistry.
I really enjoy it. Better than all the other historical dramas airing right now in my opinion. Se young is the…
Trivia: Se Young was a child actress in Jewel in the Palace (first historical kdrama about court ladies that got international attention). She also played as young court lady their (young version of main female's rival).
I'm guessing this is going to involve a lot of politics and be very serious but can anyone confirm? Not really…
I know some politics bore some people, but if a drama did well in interwoving the politics and the drama’s romance and overall plot together, they usually result in engaging and compelling dramas.
Liked the first episode. I think if you’re at least familiar with Dongyi you’ll understand the first episode. The King in the first episode is Dong Yi’s son. He doesn’t like people talking about his mother’s lowly background which is why the book that states his mother’s lowly background is banned.
The second ml knows u remember when they were small he was hid outside the room where they talking and dressing…
But he knew she was a girl when she was still young. What I meant is since she grew up, no new person as far as we know has realized her gender already. Everyone in this drama who knows her gender knows it since she was young.
Lmao people were critical of this movie? Wtf it’s nearly perfect lol
It was a highly praised movie. It didn't receive so many awards (I think Lee Byung Hun's million dollar movie Masquerade was on the screen at the same time), but it did got some awards. Song Joong Ki also managed to get his first baeksang nomination (Baeksang 2013) for this film . Considering who he was against as best actor for film back then, it was a huge accomplishment already. The film was also the highest grossing melodrama film in Korean (not sure if it still is now).
I'm just gonna take a wild guess and say, they will not create the first gay marriage in korean history on this…
I'm gonna tell you something interesting. In 2008 there was a drama called Painter of the Wind, also about a girl disguising as a man. There are two people the main girl has feelings for, one is her painting teacher (her male lead) other one is a gisaeng (importing female supporting character). I'm not gonna tell which of the two characters she ended up with, but despite the fact that the male lead was played by an actor who's had 2 daesangs already while the gisaeng girl was played by a rookie, a significant portion of the viewers of the drama enjoyed the female lead's love story more with the gisaeng than the male lead. They even won best couple at their station's year end awards show (their couple award was special, they were not even considered in the line up of couples the viewers should vote for the best, but due to fan protest, they were eventually included and even won). There was a scene in that drama where the female lead is caressing the gisaeng girl's body (arms, hands, chest, neck, shoulder line, etc). Despite all this, the show was able to continue to air and it even won awards. I'm telling all these things because there is really a strong possibility that the writers can push marriage between two female characters in the drama (given that in year 2008 they pushed boundaries with gender already). (One thing I don't know is what happened in the manhwa though, so if that is your basis for your theory, then that might be more likely to happen).
