Yeah. Female lead is annoying now. I gave her the benefit of the doubt early, but now she's just being intentionally obtuse and hard on ML for idolizing a past and a (flawed) Aunt she doesn't understand.

I can't stop myself from rolling my eyes. That princess hardly looks like a man XD
Well they do address that. FOR ONCE. lol.

also I'm so Invested in each of the 3 couples story/love line.. Usually I have a preference but here I can't seem…
Yep. I'm so invested in all the main romantic couples so far. lol. I'm super worried for out Pretty Business Lady. She left that crazy man for a reason...regardless of how hot he is. lol

She ends up with Gongsun Yin. Its not a doomed relationship, don't worry.
YAY!!!!

She never saw his face, he wore a mask previously.
Wait...the whole time they were together??? That's wild.

The C-Drama trope of a Princess falling for a man her parents would never approve of has reared it's ugly head.

lol.

Look you spoiled little girl, he doesn't have a high enough standing for your parents to approve the match. Also no upside politically either. It doesn't mean he doesn't like you. Learn more about what's happening in court spoiled girl.

lol/smh

Gong Sun, too prim and proper...the look of regret on your face...πŸ˜”
No. He just understands the politics. No way he'd be allowed to marry the Grand Princess. And if Princess wasn't young and spoiled she'd realize he does care for her, but isn't in a position to marry her. Silly girl.

Also, how does ol'girl not recognize her husband? I know it's been about 10 years, but he couldn't have changed that much. He looked as confused as I did when she didn't recognize him.
On Pursuit of Jade Mar 9, 2026
Alright book readers help me out!

I'm now invested in a likely doomed relationship --- Sigh---

Who does the Grand Princess end up with????

lol

She actually is rather simple-minded. She’s bright and capable, but there were several instances where her comprehension…
The "Egg" scene when he's trying to get her to memorze the law for defending her house. Then she turned around an remembered the seven-step poem with ease. He was mightly flummoxed by the entire scenario.

I agree that it's a little extreme, more "dumb" than "naive" at this point, though I will argue…
Well said.

it’s long separation I don’t remember very well but what I can tell you it’s going to take like maybe 8…
Thanks!

I remember them addressing this naivety in the novel. She learns and grows later, I remember the ML in the novel…
That's fair. And I'm hoping for that as well.

They only break up once and it does not last long cause Xie Zheng cannot bear to stay away from his wife πŸ˜†.…
No. That's not what I mean, tho good to know so thanks for that. lol

"Do you want to taste?" 🀭
That was one hell of a line for a guy who's trying not to fall in love right now.
On Pursuit of Jade Mar 8, 2026
There's a thin line between making your female lead naive and humble or simple and ditzy. And Pursuit of Jade crossed that line in episode 9 with the meeting with the restaurant owner. Like GIRL, c'mon you do business too.

The show can't simultaneously portray her as the leader of her own gang (she could run a protection unit if she wanted too) to being a country rube the next minute when she may be out of her element.

She's not dumb or simple. Young, and naive yes. But they've shown her to be plenty clever and fierce when necessary. We don't need that "I'm just a girl" energy with this character. It's not fair to the character or us as viewers.
