i have not reached the end of the drama yet, but from reading in other places I think the censorship issue was that it would have come across like a child having romantic feelings for an adult if the ML was a child when he transmigrated back and spent his life waiting to meet the FL when she came back 10 years later. I could be wrong, but that was my take on it.

I don’t think the novel ending would have passed censorship, so the drama had to make changes.

I hear you. I made a post a day or two ago about feeing upset that his son was treated with so little compassion or understanding.

I get it. I also don’t think there was another option. His kid is so young, so it’s not like he could rule the empire by himself. So Wanyin ‘using’ the kid and ruling through him would kind of be inevitable if Dan died. Better Wanyin than anyone else. Dan was just making sure everything would be taken care of in the event he dies. I am still on episode 30, though, so I don’t know if anything happens with the crown prince in the next couple episodes.

Agreed 💯It boggles my mind how the CHILD is treated so poorly. I don’t blame the Dan for having no nurturing feelings for him, but no one else? Really? However, there is a part of me that wonders if Dan knew that Wanyin would be compassionate and kind, so her being made the new ED wouldn’t mean that the crown prince would be abused under her care. Who knows, if that happened, maybe the crown prince’s life would get better under her care. I dunno if this makes sense. But it does bother me how the kid has been treated.

If I understand the novel correctly, the ML dies first (later on of old age, I think?) and goes back to the real world as a child. He grows up and becomes a CEO and waits for / looks for the FL who dies after him in the novel and then returns to the real world 😊They reunite for a HE 🤗

The novel has a happy ending, and judging by how faithfully the writers have been following the novel, I highly highly doubt they’ll change the drama to a SE.

Oh I totally don’t mind Dan being unhinged, I actually like the dark edges 👌🏻But I absolutely have a problem with children being abused / hurt on screen, I don’t care how “bad” they are. I don’t mind the crown prince’s behaviors, because he’d have been a good kid and probably wouldn’t have done that if raised by a decent person. I get the argument about him being a 2D character, but if it were that easy to just brush all of the characters off besides the leads then the show would also lose a lot of its complexity and nuance. Just my two cents. I’m not really mad, but it’s just really upsetting hearing people say they would rather a kid get killed 🤷🏼‍♀️

How can you say that? HE IS JUST A CHILD. The same age as Dan when he first transmigrated! How can you look at Dan and be OK with his horribly unhinged behaviors and then turn around and blame a frickin TEEN for his? Yah the crown prince had a different life than Dan, but he’s no less of a child molded by his environment as Dan was. No less used as a political pawn as Dan. The hypocrisy in blaming a child for the same crap the adults do is astounding to me. The prince probably had the DE poisoning him against Dan since the beginning. The kid is also a victim who doesn’t know better. Why the heck should he be blamed and punished for Dan’s assault??? He had no less choice in this whole thing than Dan did. Does Dan need to develop fatherly feelings towards the kid? Hell no. But for you to hope he gets murdered? Geez. /rant

I really hope the same, and I feel like I’m on my own little island with this perspective. I want to know what ultimately happens with this child so I can prepare myself. :/ He’s just a kid and no more manipulated and used as a political pawn as Dan was.

I am starting to wonder at what point do I hold off watching new episodes so I can binge through the angst and not have to wait 😮‍💨The tension is building with the ML’s lies and her being led to doubt him, and then me having no idea how she will react when she finds out the truth… or if she starts reaaally seeing his unhinged madness and dark side and pulls away… or if they’re making a love triangle develop to cause additional angst with the leads I DUNNO. I like to watch the angst all at once lol.

Bahahaha I remember telling someone on here MONTHS ago that the leads communicate like adults LOL. I’m doing a rewatch since it’s my favorite drama and I’m cackling because they actually don’t 😂Like at all - except for the more serious emotional moments. I forgot how funny it is 😂I have to space out my rewatches so I don’t tire of this fantastic drama.

Okay so I am into episode 7 now and wanna know if anyone knows about what ep the angst is going to start? I like to be able to get through angst parts in one sitting instead of having to wait. I know they’re not together officially, but does the angst in this one include an eventual breakup? Is there an annoying love triangle developing with possessive second leads? Do the leads betray each other or work against each other? Noble idiocy? Thanks in advance 🙏🏻I get nervous the more I get into a drama lol

The amount of times the leads get interrupted by coincidental phone calls is annoying. Ignore the call! Silence your phone! It’s so rude to take a call when you’re in the middle of having a moment with someone else! 🤦🏼‍♀️It’s not just this drama, but others as well. It’s especially noticeable with this one, though.

The synopsis indicates it will be the opposite 😂
