I watched Tan Song Yun in Sword and the Brocade and loved her sm in that one. I love Neo, but sadly I have yet to find a show that I like with him in it. Didn’t make it through BftB due to the story, dropped LitC because of the constant lying, so honestly I am looking forward to seeing Tan Song Yun the most. She’s wonderful. I’m also hoping this will be the first show that I like with Neo in it.

This is my biggest complaints with IQIYI. The song subtitled SUCKED during Fated Hearts 😤Sounds like it’s the case with this one too (haven’t started yet, worried about this one having a SE).

Yeah no worries! If TFF doesn’t work for you, you could check out “The Best Thing” if you haven’t already. There are still some undertones of emotional abuse, but it’s less highlighted. The ML is also a lot softer. 😊

Yeah I mean you do you 😊I think some of us watch TV because it’s an escape from reality, not because we are looking for real life scenarios. Hence my favorite characters in fictional stories tend to be the ones that are rough around the edges. How many characters in loved shows have killed people or have darkness to them? I dunno 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yah I remember that in the beginning. I guess I didn’t see Sang Yan as unkind. Stand-offish, yes, but not mean.

Yesssss. Sang Yan had this wonderful way of earning her trust in a way that someone may earn the trust of a frightened animal - not too straightforward lest you frighten them and they bolt, but not so disengaged and passive that they never trust. “I accidentally made extra soup, help me eat it.” / “I accidentally bought extra food, it’s on the table for you.” It was SO GOOD how he walked that tightrope of taking care of her without making it obvious to her that he was. 🫠🫠I also loved SO MUCH how Sang Yan phrased his jokes about their physical contact in such a way as to keep the power in her hands. He always painted her as the one who instigated / initiated the physical touch in order to help her feel empowered and less embarrassed / ashamed. Ugh. All the feels just thinking about him 🫠He was the best.

Sometimes it’s nice watching a show that’s relaxing, straightforward and predictable to break up the intensity of other shows 😌A breather lol

Aw that’s too bad that you don’t like him. I looooved him and thought his character was brilllianr, but if you’re not liking him (esp. after episode 2), then it probably won’t change.

So I get what you’re saying, but I don’t see the ML that way. They fill in more gaps about their history as the story progresses, and I saw the ML as walking the line between being constant in his love for her while also being guarded because of how much she hurt him / blindsided him after high school. The other thing is that he doesn’t know the full extent of what she suffered because she keeps everything to herself and doesn’t open up to others, not even her friends. There’s a really great episode much later on in which the ML starts putting the pieces together on how much the FL has suffered in her lifetime. Up until that point, he had some sense that something was going on, but he had no idea what we as the audience knows. So from his POV, he fell in love with her in high school and she suddenly said nasty things to him after high school for no understandable reason to him. He had an idea that something was wrong, but no idea what and to what extent. He maintains his distance to let her take things at her own pace, and to also remain guarded and closed off because he has been hurt. He is also taking care of her without making her feel like a burden. I thought his character was brilliant.

I don’t remember exactly, but I think it’s because he didn’t want her to get involved with the immortals and thought she would stop pursuing it if he gave her a hard time.
