Yeah, it's terrible! They were super behind schedule, I think because of COVID delays + the director being a perfectionist. Eunwoo and Gayoung filmed the kiss in the car at like 1am the day ep 15 aired. :(

Your feelings don't change to romance just because someone is next to you, especially if you had no thought of romance for them. Otherwise, the only difference between Sua and Seojun for Jugyeong is that the latter confessed to her - which he didn't do until it was too late. Why wouldn't she fall for Sua instead?
Suho and Jugyeong tried to keep their romance going for months long-distance. When he broke up with her, it was because he couldn't handle hurting her by making her wait. We clearly saw her miss him for the next year, even as Seojun was her friend and comforted her.
Then he came back a year later, and she clearly wasn't over him because she went to the spot hoping to somehow see him. IDK, I've definitely had feelings for someone that lasted longer than the relationship we were in, and I've definitely not felt the same about a friend who liked me "like that," so I have no issue believing Jugyeong's feelings stayed the same while she's focusing on school and work.

Me too! I think the ship wars brought down my enjoyment over the course of watching, but when I watched with subs and muted my timeline, I only felt satisfaction!

Since they literally were not sleeping to get the final two episodes done in time (they finished filming the same day 15 aired), that's probably why it was so visible.

Honestly, she gets a lot of development and I think her arc is good. A couple of episodes lean too heavily on the love triangle and/or romantic angst (7, 10 and 15 specifically are the culprits imo), but for the most part it's a two-person romance and the romance is there TO help her grow rather than halting her growth like in other dramas.

THANK YOU! Someone had to say it. This drama would be nothing if Jugyeong wasn't the fully fleshed-out perfectly rootable real girl she is, and Gayoung brought that to the role with a flourish.

I love reading the director's comments about the cast! I think Eunwoo will thrive in a role where he can use his full range the entire time, and his strength is definitely emotional/dramatic scenes imo. Gayoung can give him some pointers on low-brow comedy, and then we're good to go!

I think every culture has their tropes that you can guess right off the back. A drama like True Beauty is comparable to what you would see on Freeform or the CW in the US, you know? And there's always stuff you know is gonna be there - in kdramas, childhood love connection is a given haha.

No one has written about, but he's talked about it on his vlives before. And Astro fans have always noticed it when there's a lot going on for him, since stress and lack of sleep make it flair up.

Right, people are really acting like this was supposed to be a masterpiece of arthouse cinema instead of a feel-good romcom. The story was laid out clearly in the synopsis, and I for one enjoyed every episode of it except for one.

Nah, as a full obsessed Eunwoo stan, I can't give it a 10 because it wasted so much time dragging out a one-sided ship that contributed nothing to the story of either character. If they had ended Seojun's crush after ep 11 and focused on the respective career goals of all the leads after? Then my biased butt would give it a 10 for sure.

I enjoyed it too! If it hadn't stumbled with the time jump, I would honestly have no real complaints. But if I remove episode 15, I can say it was a sweet, funny, silly, healing drama that showcased how different people overcome their traumas and find comfort in themselves and each other.

Of course, I'm overjoyed for my bbs Suho and Jugyeong, but I thought Seojun's debut was especially touching. He's singing a song that Seyeon and Suho wrote together, and you can see that both boys are thinking about how this is what Seyeon would have wanted.
Extra bonus: Sujin getting to give a complete apology, free of her monster dad, and reconciling with Jugyeong and Sua. I AM SO HAPPY.

I could have done without episode 15 altogether, lol, but I think episode 16 wrapped things up nicely and gave everyone A happy ending of one kind or another. Staying in high school the whole time would have been the stronger choice, but the finale was still satisfying for me!

Absolutely! Precisely because he only has time to do one drama a year, and he's always booked and busy with something, I'm sure it must be hard for him to find the time to work on his craft as an actor. But it seems clear he's passionate about it, and I think he grew by leaps and bounds as Suho - especially when he was allowed to open up more.

The day Park Yoona finally gets to lead her own series is the day we will have achieved world peace. She's SO talented and so underrated, it kills me!

Seojun told Jugyeong she owed him 3 dates to see if he could win her over, but she's still thinking about Suho on the first of them because he's back in Korea and wants to talk to her. SJ walks JG home just as SH is coming out of Prince Comics, and then SJ gives JG a hug (it seems to be an "ending" hug because he can tell she's Not That Into Him) as Suho watches.
