Do you guys have any other Wuxia BL (censured or otherwise) donghua recommandations ?(I've seen SVSSS, HOB and…
I don`t think they are uncensored bl donghuas, not matter the genre. The only other bl donghua based on a cultivation novel, that is from the Xuanhuan genre (xianxia mixed with sc fi and magic elements ) that i know of is Legend of exorcism made by BILIBILI It has two seasons made. The second season is airing right now. https://myanimelist.net/anime/40735/Tian_Bao_Fuyao_Lu https://myanimelist.net/anime/44068/Tian_Bao_Fuyao_Lu_2nd_Season https://www.novelupdates.com/series/tianbao-fuyao-lu/ -the novel the donghua is based of. MDZS is from the xanxia genre SVSSS and HOB is from the xuanhuan genre as well Only Thousand autumns donghua is from the wuxia genre Anyway, the differences are not that big, all the novels the donghuas are based of are cultivation novels, but i tought it would be informative for you.
Yes. I was just gonna write about this. Everything Eddie Broke said is true. Both ZZS and WKX were not writed in…
As i said, i usually relate more to and love more novels that goes deeper in the characterizations of the characters, especially flawed characters or wise and true to themselves characters who went through hell to be who we see them to be. And i can`t accept when characters in general are changed a lot in adaptations , small changes are okay, but changing completely a character i feel is an insult to the writer and it make me no want to to watch it, as i can`t relate to them as i did with the respective characters in the novel. Because of this, i watched more than half of the eps of WOH, i know what it happens in WOH until the end as i spoiled myself a lot, but i have a hard time finishing watching the drama. I had the same feelings with The sleuth of Ming Dinasty, that is an adaptation of Fourteenth years of chenghua by Meng Xi Shi. I am still vey grateful to the live adaptation of the novel as it have give me a face to imagine the characters when i reread the novel, and sometimes i really enjoy watching the OSTs of the drama and some wonderful fanMVs that can be found on the internet that revolves about WKX and ZZS, as i can imagine what i want to see from those MVs I wished a lot of things were not changed, in comparison Thousand autumns donghua is a wonderful adaptation of the novel in my opinion, as even through Yan Wushi is as ruthless as WKX and ZZS is, they made minimal changes to him, keep the story the same, and they had him be consistently to the core of his character in the novel. Also what i appreciated the more is that the donghua in my opinion managed to satisfy both fans of the novels and other non- novel fans. I was really impressed how TA donghua despite the story, that is not easy to adapt, managed to make possible to have different interpretations for novel readers to be able too realistically deduce what they want to see, and for non-novel readers to imagine what they want to, is not an easy feat. They make such good changes that are noticeable and not noticeable at the same time , but managed they retain the main story line of the novel. I can only hope the drama adaptation will not fall too short compared with the donghua.
I do recommend you to reread Faraway wanderers again if you feel like it. I started reading Faraway wanderers more than one year ago, and completed reading it with mtl translations, and when i reread it again recently i was able to see things with more clarity and it given me a more full picture and touched me much more than when i read it the first time. This happened to me with other Priest and Meng Xi Shi novels, i enjoy them more the more times i read them, is like they were writed in a way that make you discover new things as you reread the novels after years pass and people gain more experiences and thus see the novels in a new light.
I’m still super obsessed with this drama so I kind of wanted to do a final review! I’m putting this in the…
Yes. I was just gonna write about this. Everything Eddie Broke said is true. Both ZZS and WKX were not writed in the novel in a way to make the readers pity them, but in a way for people to understand them well and relate to them. Just like how Yan Wushi was writed by Meng Xi Shi in Thousand autumns, Priest also wrote them to give the impression from the start that they are bad guys, have blood of their hands, are in no way better than the overly vicious villains from the novel. So even through Priest give a heartbreaking backgrounds for them, in not moment it tried to excuses their actions, or portrayed them as they having not choice. People who read Lord Seventh before reading Faraway wanderers know even better of how many ruthless and cruel actions ZZS has done before meeting WKX. WKX and ZZS are portrayed as both of them being who they are because of he choices they make and how the circumstances shaped them to be, but not excusing their actions in any way, and not having any of them deceiving themselves and each other as being anything they don`t are. This is the reason WKX and ZZS dynamic is in my top three in my favorite novels, after Thousand autumns ( because of how true to his evil and bad nature Yan Wushi was writed, and i think is one of a kind character in the world of bl novels) and Mo Du ( this is because of how charming the dynamic of Fei Du and Luo Wenzhou is, and how deep Priest has chosen to explore the darkness and gloomy part of Fei Du and how it managed to explore how his experiences managed to shape him the way he is). Beiyuan and Wu Xi is close to how charming Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing are, the novel Lord Seventh deserve to be more popular. But i know why both Lord Seventh and Faraway wanderers are not as popular, as is obvious that they are one of the earliest novels, the loose ends and endings are not as well wrapped as Priest later novels. What can i say, i enjoy more novels that goes deeper in the characterizations of the characters and not shying away of describing the flaws and dark traiths that the characters may have.
I dream of the day when china will remove their censorship and we will finally be able to have fully faithful…
I agree with Etnaa, if censorship towards bl dramas adaptations will be removed in China, good and experienced actors will not play anymore in those productions, not at this point in time at least, maybe in the future. Either they will still made the productions as before the censorship is removed or they will cast unknown actors, who have not experience, like how Taiwan and Thailand is doing it, and the adaptations will not be as good. Korea it started making changes little by little but it will take a while. They still at the stage of making webseries, with casting rookie or inexperienced actors who are willing to play on those productions to gain exposure, but depending of the mindset of those actors, some productions are very good, some are very lacking. Japan is the only country who has taken the step to cast good and experienced actors in movies starting from last year, with Cornered cheese dreams of mouse and Restart after come back home, and dramas like Cheery magic and Life sejou no bokura (all four productions are based on mangas, as usually Japan make adaptations more frequently from mangas than novels). And people have to keep in mind, Japan is the origin of the bl fenomen in asian countries, they have been doing bl productions consistently for many years, ( at least from 2007 until now) so the changes has come after years of making them and the general public becoming more accepting towards lgtbq community. I think more and more good productions will come from Japan in the next years. Narita Ryo from Cornered cheese has even won an award for his role as Imagase.
Yes. All that happens in the video is in the novel, every conversation in video is in the novel, the audio drama…
The private moment and the morning after dialoque is even more funny in the novel, as you got to read their toughts too. GOD, i remember i laughed until it bring me to tears. The extra chapters in general are really funny and they feel like a sort of reward for getting until there.
@Ximmich -- is this section found in the novel? The special parts definitely won't make it to the live version!!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6b_J3-H8Ho…
Yes. All that happens in the video is in the novel, every conversation in video is in the novel, the audio drama cut video didn`t skip almost anything. The subs are not that good sometime, but i recognized the parts from the novel and i understood them more easily. This video is probably a cut from the last chapters from the official audio drama. I heard Thousand autumns has a audio drama too. It has to be a cut from the official audio drama as the voice actors for SQ and YWS are the same as those from the donghua, and i heard that both the donghua and the audio drama has the same voice actors for SQ and YWS. This cut from the audio drama coresponds with the extra chapters, that will be translated in the future. It has parts from about 3 extra chapters, and they are 13 extras Yes, i am sure what happens in the video won`t make it either in the donghua or drama adaptations, but parts of the extra chapters can make it since they are many and some of them contain information of what happens to others characters and is possible they can include something from there. If you don`t know Thousand autumns also has a mini theatre version, with someone in youtube actively translating the eps. In my opinion they are entertaining and funny. I will add the links of some channel in youtube. Autumn sugar channel is the one to check if you like this as well, as she translate the eps frequently. The mini theatre version also has the same voice actors as those from the donghua and audio drama. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChjinO74SJhsgGfSgggtLyw/videos https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoKc29lgTkYu-1WPmLySgCA/videos
i just saw ep 16 too. It was impressing and it followed the novel closely. This episode really made me pity Yan…
I just saw it, god i get what you mean that you screamed in excitement. I usually don`t listen to audio dramas as i get bored not matter how god it is, but this video is cut to show all the spicy and essential parts from the extra chapters, so i really enjoyed it, thanks a lot. It helps that i read the novel, even if the translation from the last chapters was not that good, is still understood what it happens. I can`t wait for the latest translator to finish translating the novel to give it a reread. When i was listening to audio I was grinning at some scenes, especially the kissing scenes, it hits differently to actually listen to them, and some are longer than in the novel. The conversation SQ has with that guy asking subtly to help him on what to do to placate and reconcile with YWS is one of the most memorable ones from the novel, it always make me smile when i think of it. The way SQ manage to ask questions but not directly mentioning YWS, but that guy having not ideea about who SQ is talking about, and thinking i want to see his reaction if he will found out in the future , is just hilarious. Thanks again.
Hello, I am sorry to ask but I have been having a bit of trouble finding full translations for the novel. A lot…
Hi. I will send you the links directly since i am too lazy to discuss more. All the links i send you and more can be found on the discussion thread of this page named Thousand Autumns English Novel -----For chapter 90- https://docs.google.com/document/d/1okJ75gRZV0RzQ9fTBcWs76G2j8yc2LJAh4kxAIzzHs/edit Read only chapter 90 for the above link as is mtl edited chapters. Until recently it was available another good translation of chapters 86-90, but it was deleted https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aqWwg_GuhBjobE2_sNBZHtarKvuL_6Fpy_WFcmYqunY/edit# - you can see is deleted, so i don`t have other choice but to recommend people that fpr chapter 86-90 to read from these mtl edits. It`s unfortunately as until recently the novel would have had all the latest chapters in good translation, if it wouldn`t have been for that deleted link. ---- For chapters 91 onwards, a new translator has picked up the novel to be translated, and it assured it would translate the novel until the end, the last chapter translated now is 110. https://qianqiunoveltranslation.wordpress.com https://twitter.com/ysuperglue - the translator twitter account to check more easily the release of the chapters.
This community got really mad because I made an account the same day I posted my review (I admit I tried to balance…
It shouldn`t matter how people rate the dramas, and on what basis they give a higher or a lower rating than what a person think is acceptable, as is people right to rate a drama how they want to. I also take into an account the overall rating of the drama when i rate a drama or a novel, and if the rating is higher then i think if i should, i lower the rating and if is lower i give the drama a higher rating. Comments like how people has given to you here should only be based on how well you expressed your opinion, and not be preconceived because you`ve given the drama a low rating. I think you argumented what the issues you have with the drama quite clearly and you summarized them well, i got the core of what you wanted to say. The thing i am bothered a lot is the fact that people who made an account to rate and review this drama after watching it, not matter if it was because he/she did it because it wanted to give a lower or higher rating, if the rating is low and it has some criticism, that person is automatically placed in the category of toxic fans of Untamed or another fandom , who want to bring down the drama. This actually happens more often that it should, and even in other danmei adaptations pages, and is unsettling me to watch this. Usually people made an account because they want to be part of giving a rating of the drama, write a review or share an opinion. That`s how most accounts are made in MDL, people have to start from somewhere, but are feeling looked down and dispirited when people label them like this when they didn`t even settle in MDL properly yet. Some people just aren`t a fan of a specific drama, i started appreciating Untamed more after i watched the adaptations released after, but i don`t consider myself a fan of a drama only, i am fan of bl asian dramas, movies and some bl chinese novels, who is disappointed on how the drama has adapted the novel. Honestly, the majority of chinese bl novels are not that great, but i assure that the majority that get adapted are one of the best ones, their popularity in China was the reason their license were bought to be adapted after all. Almost all novels that danmei adaptation dramas are based of are worth reading, with the exception of S.C.I Mystery for people who don`t like reading crime/detective novels and The Husky and His White Cat Shizun ( the novel Immortality is based of) for people who can`t stand forced intimate scenes, as it has a lot. I think the novel The Husky and His White Cat Shizun has more hype that it should, but i understand why people will like the novel, all people taste should be respected and it also change in time. Faraway wanderers by Priest, that WOH is based of, is one of my favorite, but i can see is not as good as Founder of diabolism (FOD) and not as well writed as other novels of Priest, but is still one of the best if i compare with the majority of bl novels curently translated in Novelupdates. If you hesitated reading the novel because is bl, in comparation with FOD who has some explicite intimate scenes, Faraway wanderers and the majority of Priest novels, and almost all the novels the drama adaptations are based of, have minimal descriptions of intimate scenes, sometime just some mentions so people know that the characters took the final step. For the great bl novels, the rich world building, clever storyline, complex and intricate connections between the characters, charming and strong characters are the strengths of the novels, and the romantic same sex relationship are just a bonus and it can be even ignored sometime. I am also very picky to what i read as some novels don`t deserve my time. Everyone time is precious.
uh oh, i think this drama is getting too popular for some untamed fans again, needing to make accounts to write…
I want to speak those words especially to penutbuterjelly, since it seems she has to comment in every comment of mine, and those i made are really rare, since i really don't like comment to this page. She and many people are commenting here like they know everything, like everyone that post a comment that hint they start to give criticism or point a flaw this drama has, even if they give a reasonable argument of why they think like that, it means that person is a fan of Untamed or another danmei adaptation, is jealous of how succesful the drama is, and because of this they have made a new account to give negative comments or low rating, reviews or things like this. Maybe they are some people who do that, i don`t say they are not, but why do people like to generalize like this? Why people like to intimidate, give opposite opinions on comments that are not as positive as they want to be? This limit freedom of speach, and honest and open discussions to be made, and some people are just plainly rude, like how peanutbuterjelly was to me recently. It has said to me that i am toxic, and my thinking is disgusting, when i was nothing but respectful to anyone in this page, just based on a polite and diplomatic reply a made on a review. I don`t even comment on this drama almost at all . I usally prefer to stick to others danmei drama pages, since some of the comments made this are just disrespectful and ignorant. I was commenting on a review that has given a low rating to the drama, yes it has given 1, but he made some reasonable opinions that i could relate to, as i read the novel and compared how the drama adapted the drama and what the impression it has given me. The fact that i have given a comment where i agreed with some of the toughts that person did, don`t mean that i also will rate the drama as 1 or i agree with how he rated the drama as 1, just to be clear. I am shocked that people will think that, agreeing with some words writed don`t mean i agree with everything a person writes, and this aply to everyone usually. Maybe people has encountered my comments in a lot of damnei adaptation dramas, since i have a lot of favorite novels that will get drama adaptations. I hope peanutbutterjelly and other people here who only like to judge people so easily based on some few comments just because they feel they don`t match their toughts will not take a liking on any of other upcoming dramas adaptations and make comments like this there too. I just don`t get people who think two dramas who are different can`t not have aspects that can be compared to make a point what some drama did better, and what some other drama lacks. Comparing dramas is a way to show and argument that it ca be done, that it was done, how things could be better. I can`t wait to see how the upcoming danmei dramas that will be released are compared to Untamed or Word of honor, Guardian and others. Yes, the story is totally different, but you can always find similarity or differences that you can compare. Comparing dramas is a way to also recommand to people in few words how a drama, or how a novel is, usually is not a bad thing. I also usually when i recommend novels, i compare a novel with what that the person has already read, so he can quickly figure it out what to expect the novel to be quality wise. Anyway, i am a bit disappointed of this page, for a while now, as i am not a new user in MDL. I know of this website for years, and i made an account in 2018. I also especially from this year i enjoy helping people with information or giving my toughts about different things in various bl asian dramas and movies in general not only danmei adaptations, and people are usually very polite, helpful and open to disscuss and exchange toughts, but this is one of the most stuffy pages i encountered.
are you just replying to yourself on a different account now? you need to change your style of writing when you…
I didn't find anything disgusting in the review, omg. I don't want to lower myself at your level. Yes maybe the person was not expressing herself as well as she/he wanted, but you can tell he was honest and he argumented well the opinion.
are you just replying to yourself on a different account now? you need to change your style of writing when you…
Lol. I was replying his comment, who i found many points where i agree too. I don't mean that i agree with the rating. Maybe he rated the drama so low to balance the rating a bit, since they are plently of people who had given a higher rating.
are you just replying to yourself on a different account now? you need to change your style of writing when you…
OMG. Really? . Nobody can have a honest, open discussion here without you commenting something. Do you actually saw me criticizing the drama frequently on the drama page? Even when i found some people who has similar toughts like me, i can't have a decent discussions without you saying something or anyone else. I think also this person has expressed why he think this way about this drama quite clearly. I am really getting angry now, you know. What is wrong with you? I am an user in MDL for years, you desperate woman. You can find me commenting for years on asian bl series, not only danmei adaptations. I watch bl movies and dramas from all asian countries. No offense but you're getting paranoid, not everyone make new accounts to criticize the drama without basis or to pull it down. Some people opinions is made after watching countless dramas and movies over the years and honestly thinking that the drama could have been better and it has many things that was disappointing personally to them.
I'm so confused... did Imagase leave before the beach scene or after. Because it looks like Kyoichi broke up with…
Imagase left at the beach scene and he reunited with Kyoichi after he already got together with Tamaki. The second scene at the beach that was shown much later in the story was the continuation of the first and it was added later as per director wish probably. It was his choice for the remaining of the conversation they have at the beach to be revealed later. This choice of montage appear in other asian movies too, is not unusual. Also when Imagase was planning to sleep with that other guy, but started crying because he couldn`t continue , added at the end of the movie is also an inclusion with different interpretations. It`s most likely it has taken place not after Imagase left Kyochi at the end, but much earlier in the story , for exemple after the beach scene when they were not longer together or even much earlier, as before Imagase moved with Kyoichi. I suspect they added the beach scene as two cut scenes at two separate times, to hint that that sleeping scene of Imagase with that guy has also taken place more earlier, the interpretation left to the viewer ( as if the scenes shown are not liniar, that scene could also taken place at another time). In the manga the scenes were liniar, Imagase has never cheated in Kyoichi when he was together with him, but not even when they separated after things got serious between them, he didn`t sleep with anyone. The beach scene and the sleeping with other guy scenes don`t have anything to do with Kyochi waiting for Imagase at the end. Pretend it wasn`t shown. Kyochi is waiting for Imagase because Imagase left in the morning after they slept together the night before, so after they had that conversation that Kyochi will break up with Tamaki and has ask him to live together. Imagase has panicked temporarily, as he didn`t wanted to trust him again, he was let down again and again after all, and Kyoichi really appear he is seriously with him this time. Imagase probably tought what if they can`t make things work again even if Kyoichi is serious. Who can blame him, Kyouichi didn`t given him any reassurance before. In the manga, Imagase reunite with Kyichi, but the movie has chosen to end earlier and change some things to make it more realistic. For more details, go read the comments in the discussion thread named Analysis, Insights & Info Thread *SPOILERS*. I am sure you will find all the questions answered there, i also posted some comments there.
I want to thank you for writing this, as you mentioned all the issues i have with this drama, that me as well, could notice them without even reading the novel, but as i read the novel, are also much more easily to spot and make me disappointed even more. I relate with some things you said and you even convince that is the time to give this drama a ever low rating that i given it initially. The fact that you clearly saw all the inconsistencies in the drama when you didn`t even read the novel, make me think that they are even people out there like me who don`t watch dramas or movies only to pass time and like for the story told to make sense at least and to make me think that i know how the characters are like and then based on this, i can deduce why they `re acting like this. The fun of watching dramas is to feel that you relate to the characters, understand their actions and be touched by their convincing actions. And they are too little scenes in this drama when i was able to do that. The novel is ten times better, ten times consistent and is on the short side, an early writed novel when the writer didn`t probably had a richer experience in writing as the other later novels, but is still ten times enjoyable to read. The drama changed a lot the characterization of ZZS but they kept his background and his personality from the novel for the first 6 eps, and then they have him have a big change of behaviour, that`s why he is in my opinion the most inconsistent main character from all danmei adaptations made until now, including donghuas. They also didn`t manage to keep the characterization of WKX consistent, even through he was the most ruthless one in the novel and in the drama it seems it will be portrayed as wiling to kill anyone for his goals until the end, but in the end, they tried to excuse his actions too and make him seem less bad, sigh. Also yes, it`s obviouslly this drama has a lot of fanservice included that don`t bring nothing to the plot or the characterization of the characters, and make the relationship even less genuine and like it has bloomed from pure air. The reason for this is because they made ZZS warm up to WKX much more early than in the novel, being much more warm and friendly in the drama in general, more warm than even in the part of the novel when they knew they loved each other, and because of this their closeness in the drama feel a bit unnatural, like it can shatter in any moment, it isn`t as deep as in the novel. Essentialy the drama hadn`t given then properly chances to build their relationship. And you`re right, in this page, people are silenced and bullied if someone try to call out any flaws they think about the drama and is not right. Any page has people who criticize the drama and if the arguments brought forth are reasonable i enjoy reading them and give credit when is duo. Even on Untamed page, who as you said it has little aspects that can be criticized are discussions where flaws are aborded and i think are reasonable, but in this page is straight bullying. I am one of the people who really wished for the drama to be succesful and to give me the excitement i felt for the first episodes, but i was brutaly disappointed, and i don`t think i am the only one and it make me feel sad that people are attacked left and right when they dare to speak openly about this. I also love the novel Thousand autumns a lot , the donghua is such a wonderful adaptation, and the drama that will adapt the novel will start filming this year, also a lot of dramas based on the novels that i like will be released in the future, and if i observe that the adaptations are not in par with the novels, i will not hesitate to criticize the hell on the inconsistencies made. Discussions like this are refreshing and enjoyable, i really don`t get most people on this page, is like the hype had got on their heads .

In the drama ZZS was portrayed to be much more righteous than in the novel, with him even giving WKX the cold shoulder and arguing with him that by continuing with his revenge plans, he will indirectly made people get hurt, or killed. They also made ZZS warm up to WKX much more early than in the novel, being much more warm and friendly in the drama in general, more warm than even in the part of the novel when they knew they loved each other, and because of this their closeness in the drama feel a bit unnatural, like it can shatter in any moment, it isn`t as deep as in the novel. ZZS also was presented in the drama as having regrets, feeling qulty, and have a hard time moving on, accepting his past and starting anew, by having him be relieved that CL wanted to be his disciple and that WKX family was part to his sect too in the past, so as he still found some other people that are part of his sect, and even this plot didn`t end up going anywhere. In the novel, ZZS was described as accepting his past, being in peace with what he has done, knowing that it was not only his fault, he was also a child at the time when he was manipulated in joining forces with Prince Jin, so he didn`t have some remaining wishes, desire to start a new sect, and for any moment didn`t he judge any of the bad guys for the actions they take, as he was one of them. The story of ZZS and WKX is as interesting as it is. because they can empathize with each other, but at the same time, not trying to change each other, but only intervine in each other life to give each other hope and willingness to continue living, because they have each other. The drama also changed the dynamic ZZS and WKX has with Wu Xi or Great Shaman and his partner, Beiyuan or Lord seventh in the novel. Because i also know very well how they are in their own respective novel, as they are also the main characters of another novel By Priest, and how iconic their scenes are in the novel Faraway wanderers too, i was even more disappointed. Also yes, it`s obviouslly this drama has a lot of fanservice included that don`t bring nothing to the plot or the characterization of the characters, and make the relationship even less genuine and like it has bloomed from pure air. Does anyone know if after episode 16 of the anime, will there be a season 2.I love the anime so much, and I watched…
i just saw ep 16 too. It was impressing and it followed the novel closely. This episode really made me pity Yan Wushi being ambushed like that exactly how the novel made me feel, even a bit more. Yes, things were changed a bit, but not a lot. God, i liked that even through you can see that Yan Wushi was surprised and a bit touched that Shen Qiao came to save his ass, he was still being himself by ironicaly pointing out that he is still kind and merciful as always. That phrase was something he would have said in the novel, this is what consistently writing is, when you have to divert from the novel but not make a big difference. I am just so grateful to the production team of this donghua for managing to stay true to the novel. This ep give me the exact feeling when i was reading this part of the novel, the same sad, hopeless feeling. If you`ve seen the last seconds of ep 16, after the ending song, you saw they set up everything for a second season: Yan Wushi moved his finger similar to something he did in the novel (this confirm he isn`t dead) and it was hinted of Hulugu appearance in the future (who also isn`t dead as he is tought to be). The fact that Hulugu is hinted this early i think they will only make two seasons with many episodes, maybe 16 as well, but i am sure they will make a second season, everything seem to point to this.I didn`t read anything about a second season yet, a confirmation was not made yet i think, usually it takes some time until the next seasons of a donghua is confirmed. Is still too early, in youtube, they released today only ep 14, it`s possible news will be released after all the episodes are released in youtube too, and maybe much more later, it`s not unusual to no be anything released about this matter at this moment.
The characters do separate at some point in the drama, but thay reunite after, and they end up together. This drama actually is based on a manga, and Japan usually adapts their dramas and movies faithfully when they are based on a manga or novel.
The only other bl donghua based on a cultivation novel, that is from the Xuanhuan genre (xianxia mixed with sc fi and magic elements ) that i know of is Legend of exorcism made by BILIBILI
It has two seasons made. The second season is airing right now.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/44068/Tian_Bao_Fuyao_Lu_2nd_Season
https://www.novelupdates.com/series/tianbao-fuyao-lu/ -the novel the donghua is based of.
MDZS is from the xanxia genre
SVSSS and HOB is from the xuanhuan genre as well
Only Thousand autumns donghua is from the wuxia genre
Anyway, the differences are not that big, all the novels the donghuas are based of are cultivation novels, but i tought it would be informative for you.
I am still vey grateful to the live adaptation of the novel as it have give me a face to imagine the characters when i reread the novel, and sometimes i really enjoy watching the OSTs of the drama and some wonderful fanMVs that can be found on the internet that revolves about WKX and ZZS, as i can imagine what i want to see from those MVs
I wished a lot of things were not changed, in comparison Thousand autumns donghua is a wonderful adaptation of the novel in my opinion, as even through Yan Wushi is as ruthless as WKX and ZZS is, they made minimal changes to him, keep the story the same, and they had him be consistently to the core of his character in the novel.
It has parts from about 3 extra chapters, and they are 13 extras
Yes, i am sure what happens in the video won`t make it either in the donghua or drama adaptations, but parts of the extra chapters can make it since they are many and some of them contain information of what happens to others characters and is possible they can include something from there.

I will send you the links directly since i am too lazy to discuss more.

Read only chapter 90 for the above link as is mtl edited chapters. Until recently it was available another good translation of chapters 86-90, but it was deleted
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aqWwg_GuhBjobE2_sNBZHtarKvuL_6Fpy_WFcmYqunY/edit# - you can see is deleted, so i don`t have other choice but to recommend people that fpr chapter 86-90 to read from these mtl edits.

Yes maybe the person was not expressing herself as well as she/he wanted, but you can tell he was honest and he argumented well the opinion.
