HELL YES I LOVE THIIIISSSSSSSSSSS

i wish that in the west (at least all ive ever lived is UK, US msot of my life, and france) we expressed ourselves with each other as physically affectionate as women do in kdramas. there's a certain aspect to the physical (platonic) intimacy they get to share. what i love about AOY1 is the pettiness and meanness that could come out but, even with men around, they choose each other over everything else and, at the end of the day, the arguments don't mean as much.

i cannot wait to watch WLDN particularly for sunhwa and eunji. i saw some clips from the hospital bits and i just loved it. i hope one day we can get more stories of accomplished women that don't focus on corporate. i think melo does this and it has really resonating messages but i never finished it.

i'd also like to put in: once again. this isnt' exactly a prominent female cast (i mean it is but it's an ensemble) but lee jung eun plays a bar owner turned food shop owner in a complex of markets/stores and basically supports two much younger girls that worked at her bar. it's really good cross generational female camraderie! also like someone said avengers social club which is also a good cross-generational thing and just the best.

OH AND: fantastic! i think it's a fiun light drama and the friendship is sweet

TY for this!

i adore sismance so much. seeing women support and love each other is so incredible to watch, rather than the…
or!! it gives us the space to argue and fight and be mean and petty and also evil and non-redeemable but see those as mistakes, or that those people aren't who we want to align ourselves with, rather than inherent to our social gender. it gives us a space to be humans i think (and youth dramas do this too in ways that a lot of adult things can't do!)

Terrible Review. Pointless and Mindless. Doesn't even count as a proper review
why do you keep posting the same response to every review you don't like?

I get that this is about the utterly painful sufferings of Koreans during the most devastating times, but did…
tl;dr -- your questions weren't egregious and with more and new information you can factor that into how you process the show and your critique. it's ok

jumping in even with no dog in this fight, LMH probably didn't have to audition in the "normal" way. a no-name wouldnt have landed the role though i doubt he (LMH) could demand a solo ep bc this is a inter-national (international but also inter as in between) production but peopel of his caliber have pull in different ways that help them and absolutely that would be in the casting decision particularly to get ppl to watch it. nor did you necessarily imply that he would demand it to be so (an episode "just for" him) but you did question, rightly imo, if they utilized him for an extended period of time that falls out of line with an established pattern in the show, if i am reading your concern correctly (perceived maybe but still!)

this focus on him, because of who he is, IS absolutely possible and a natural consequence of casting strictly for viewership ($). though i hope that isn't the reason if the show has artistic impactful integrity. you also have to think about how easy it is for these people to obtain certain positions; LMH has money and can get someone to negotiate with him for his best outcome so it can bring money to those who work to secure the best positions for him.

for ex, in this instance, there's someone who could help him in issues with language since he isn't fluent in english. or how he has a litany of work that he can present to others as evidence of his work which a no-name doesn't have (obviously), he has social and fiscal capital and there are certain roles that people don't want to take a chance on like, say, for character actors.

it happens all the time and to suggest otherwise is a misunderstanding of the way production works sorry to the original user but it's true (coming from a person who works in this field. and it isn't a good thing but it is what it is) i'm not sure how it works in SK but in the UK there is even a different database for more established actors for us, filmmakers, to access. not sure about the US either since i've only worked with casting in the UK when i lived there but it probably is the same and we have evidence that studios absolutely demand a-listers which puts producers and casters in huge binds when they want to expose others and have new ideas. it's not just cast and crew who are dedicated to what they are making they have to answer to there's a ton of moving parts.

part of the issue is the ease in which others perceive how things are made so an assumption that he was the best fit (i mean...like i don't particularly think he is a great actor and i know many others believe that too. it's fine if he's not) is automatic and a suggestion otherwise or questioning means you're challenging production decisions without realizing that compromise and beliefs on profit or interest are built-in to what we see.

!! i'm dubious about IU's acting however i'm happy for her and i hope she can hold her own. this sounds interesting i really like koreeda and shoplifters, nobody knows, life father like son are really really hard-hitting well made provocative films about family and the meanings of it particularly the idea of blood/water, the role of the state and society, and the cultural pressures surrounding what that means. hope that a lot of ppl in SK like it! didn't know it was at cannes

the cast is decent-to-good there's moments that are weak but instead of the story getting worse, it progresses…
same to you! and right? i love seeing all the diff perspectives here on death. it makes me a bit less scared abt it. esp when it comes to the people who have to deal with life after since the dead have passed. when uncle tong said "i promise that where i'm going i will be happy" i just wept; i'm getting emotional now. i really hope that's where the people we love are

This product placement at the very beginning of episode 10...I don't know if I should laugh or cry.Just at this…
there were two and i think the both of them were supposed to be garish as hell and obvious lmao. it's fascinating they managed to only put that little in there so (i could be making this up!) when they did it was gonna be loud and obvious. im kinda surprised by the shampoo one because it made this joke htat i would think advertisers would hate LOL but. ikwym though but i also get the constraints so maybe the crew thought "i can either make this PPL still bad by trying to be stelthy about it (which barely any1 manages 2 do in dramas) or just make a ridiculous joke"
