idk how i feel abt this and idc abt LMH but i love GHJ so damn much. it's just hard with how she picks roles of a certain type of woman and tbh this sounds boring BUT she's also just amazing so sigh. this could be cool
also seo sook hang has FASCINATING ways fo writing and her view of women so. dont care/like iotntbo but i do quite like her (or at least her thoughts.) could be better than i think and if it explores themes like in "arrival" thats cool too
the cast is decent-to-good there's moments that are weak but instead of the story getting worse, it progresses…
ahhh ty!!! hhahahah bc it is so long!!! but thank you and also your comments def helped me take the plunge esp the one abt loss and living after. i was concerned it would seem like his life was for naught (loss is a fucking beast and i understand the feeling and i am sorry you know that feeling, too) and altho im not done i know that isnt the case. it's about their whole lifel what happens now, what happened in the past, and what is there for any future
I watched the 1st 3 episodes and then paused because I found them to be extremely boring. I came back and watched…
this is why the categorization of BL is confusing then. if BL means two boys getting in a rship in any (romantic) capacity, why wouldn't this count? this is irregardless of the runtime of the rship or being shown it (which i would argue they develop the whole show)—if it is involving two men in this way does it not mean that?
the rest i think can be addressed with diff viewpoints but the issues you have with it are understandable and it isn't for you (which is fine and so is your comment that isn't what i am addressing) so i won't go into that too much but i think the question i posed is a fundamental one to some of the other points you bring up with regards to your reception
also, it's based off of an already existing, personal, work so to say the 'bl' was added to make a larger audience doesn't seem fair since that's integral to the show from its conception outside of the screen. that being said, i go back to my question because this is very clearly a romantic show focusing on diff rships, including a cross gender one, and the main couple happen to be two men (which does and does not play into their livelihoods.)
does bl mean that the show's central focus has to be two men getting together with nothing else happening in their lives internally and externally? if so, in what capacity and to what degree would the viewer then exercise it? if a drama has a very minor singular couple that is 2 men is that not BL? or do you mean you forgot you were watching a romantic drama? but in romance is the only plot always just the romance? and finally: if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it did it really fall
stayed up all damn motherfucking night now im on ep 8 and i regret doing this to myself so much but this is a…
the cast is decent-to-good there's moments that are weak but instead of the story getting worse, it progresses and the acting and things get stronger as we go on the way a TV show should do. frankly, nut's transformation is MIND boggling and i hope he continues to work on his skills because that's what working on the craft does. also the dude that plays ben is very good. he made interpretive dance actually look mad. think someone said slice of life aspects in the comments and i def agree there too. i know how it ends and i wonder what the contention there is now that i've watched almost the whole show because it is very consistent and hasn't stopped entertaining me in a real, genuine, not cringe or repetitive way
it also has very nebulous but very appropriate and well-handled positionings of social issues incorporated into our everyday and the parental rship aspects + casual glimpses to womanhood and criticizing aspects of thai(and subsequently world) culture and, at least for me, shows how stupid patriarchy is :) plus the literal beliefs things. things and themes to say in various ways..im impressed
also i dont get scared easily and, bc you can tell they are filming in closed conditions—evidenced by a sparse cast and location variation bc of covid and budget/logistics but like the allocation of budget was great and they utilize eveyr inch they have like the sound stages very well)—it relies a lot on sound effects etc but there were moments where i was genuinely uncomfortable and displeased and that's worse than being scary for me (i like horror but i don't like uneasy or queasy stuff; things that are just off enough to be wary like sneaking into peoples homes in the middle of the night or the idea of constant surveillance and you knowing it a la the mansons) man shout outs lmao color me surprised
and ironically and sadly this is one of the few shows that even acknowledge that sexuality doesn't have to be fixed at all and that doesn't have to be a pre-occupational worry either. no value judgement on the way things are but value judgement on the way people should be and who they claim they are and if that adds up. the ben storyline was interesting because it was literal insanity but like i said about problem-solving above it was an appropriate type of conclusion. one where you acknowledge that some facts given were wrong but that doesn't excuse the poor, gross, creepy, very "male" tendencies that he displayed nor does it mean that he is entitled to any more of phob's time. the fact that i binged this and only skipped parts that made me embarrassed or anxious (LIKE WHEN HE SAYS TO MOM THAT HIS BF IS A GHOST I WAS LIKE U RUINED IT. she rly was like "who cares who u date and what ur labels r bc this shit is dumb anyways i cant wait to meet ur bf" to "yea so hes a ghost" and i was like i cannot handle this lmao if i was his motehr i would lose it but all that shit is very realistic. there's points in the show where i was like oh no foot in the mouth type thing so i would ff) so i truly did spend like 8+ hours on this and now i dont want to finish!
stayed up all damn motherfucking night now im on ep 8 and i regret doing this to myself so much but this is a legitimately enjoyable, well made, interesting, romantic (literally and figuratively for both the feelings and the era) show. i'm actually shocked cos i dont think i've seen a "BL" (im not classifying certain shows like itsay as bl as we know it) that actually seems like a drama. i literally want to know what happens outside of the central romance, i'm intrigued as hale, and i am questioning things. also the way the show deals with mistakes is super interesting. idk man i'm surprised but this is a banger. i have a lot to say abt the production but also notably this is a show with women in it that literally serve a purpose besides decoration or identity points. what a surprise, very glad i took the leap
i do elaborate but everyone more inexperienced, if they work on the craft, can def get better and weren't terrible so that goes for faii. i didn't know she was an AKB48 member and thai but its' cool they were able to incorporate her culture and essence into her character as well. also her haircut is amazing but most of all: love the tattoos. i'd like to see more of her in challenging actually interesting roles
idt the show is leading to a reform oriented type of thing though. it's more of doing what you can and settling…
well i mean that the show's point isn't reformation but urgency—now, we can't wait (it's contrasted by nuch's char in a overt~*~*) way but i think we are on the same page for the most part; just that reformation for people means incrementalism and the sense that we can wait which is where i hit a wall. and also that it can, should, or will be reformed.
so i think anarcho-syndicalism fits better here i think with direct action: "Anarcho-syndicalists believe that only direct action—that is, action concentrated on directly attaining a goal, as opposed to indirect action, such as electing a representative to a government position—will allow workers to liberate themselves"
While this show more or less lost me in the latter third of the show due to choppy writing and characterisation,…
tbh i hope she wont but i hope she finds more stuff and won't get censored and we can see more stuff from her peers. also hope it gets more people interested in the more artistic side of this since there's a lot of awesome thai auteurs and artists
I feel like the ending was left open on purpose. As they said, their actions wont fix the bigger problem and rather,…
terrorism is a word that's used to act like the actions in the name of yt supremacy and the actions of groups like BPP are equivalent. they are not.
while i disagree with a lot of the "methods" they use (i go in2 in a sec), the biggest issue is the lack of plot and the things hindering the lack of plot. as a show, it should ahve followed up and through with that which is where i lost interest. since this is one of my favorite subjects (radicalism and art) and the director has expressed the same, the crew could have done things to adjust that and that it is its flaw not in their moral logic.
the bitter water ep is a perfect example of the contradictions there (the methods part) but the diff is that he is in college and tawi is an adult man with power and control of the state which coerces; whether that is your true belief or not, it is very clear in the show that this is the order of the world in 'not me'
and he didn't want to "talk" to him—a person putting on decorum and lying is pretty common even from people in my our own in-groups. these are also largely based on real events. not sure what about the gang makes them "terrorists" beyond the fact that they refuse the marginalization even as idealistic and misguided as they are. this is a false equivalence because it says to us that it makes sense now that a huge power (in comparison or at all or in comparison to their group AND part of a larger system which means the macro and micro matter) should face no consequences and anything that seems 'excessive' when one reacts or tries to find solutions (which is a hard determinant on its own because the expectations are in no way equal) means that a person reacting to their conditions is terrorism
but that's part of the lie so and it continues to marginalize people refusing their conditions and strengthen those benefiting and enacting them. again, the show made that clear. but it DID have its plot consistency issues and now it makes a lot more sense why due to all that shit that they didnt get which is crazy
I’ve been waiting on this series to air forever. So now that it’s finished I was excited to start it. And…
nah i think it's just aight and it should be right up my alley (kinda)
it's a show so. but the thoughts behind it and the director are the most interesting part and the romance is cute. there's pacing issues and some logistical issues and dialogue issues as well sooo. i think if you look at it more of what it is: a show that exists and has some ideas that are interesting and not at all grounded in reality due to the budget, medium, and demands of capital and also them being literal teenagers in the show it puts it into perspective
also seo sook hang has FASCINATING ways fo writing and her view of women so. dont care/like iotntbo but i do quite like her (or at least her thoughts.) could be better than i think and if it explores themes like in "arrival" thats cool too

ur review made me think abt this drama and then more perusing the comments. thanks mate
didnt know abt the work being personal but that makes a lot of sense with the familial stuff. very cool

ok not sad i guess but bitterwsweet sigh but it seems like it is enjoyable i just don't like 'longing' type of endings
except he dresses badly but that's ok, i love ur description. the type of person i strive 2 b
(but i dress better)
