these kinds of stories are really heartbreaking and they're hard to witness. not only being a red flag but the self-flagellation of the women and manipulation with dudes like this—men are fucked indeed. i'm glad that there's talk and notice of a sexual relationship but from what i've seen adn put together the self-respect....now this is something common a lot of us go through, and some of us don't and while this is a refreshing story in terms of the literal content it's the same type of men, same type of women, same bullshit. however...........

sorry my brain goes a mile a minute. you don’t have to reply to all of it, you got the gist. i believe a common sentiment on this website can be very juvenile, fandom in general. the idea that critique that skews negative, distasteful, "mean" comments is invalid because it is hate and therefore you shouldn't say it and that will upset other people...what is this?

these are typical responses when others have issues with something: “just enjoy it, take it for what it is, don't think too much, stop being woke (?), what do you know, you’re hating, what do you know, why are you taking it so seriously, it's just a show” etc so on and so forth

there's a perceived tone of superiority or implications of stupidity maybe that users may feel as if their feelings are invalidated. i think you’re putting the responsibility on other users for how /you/ react to their thoughts. i wasn’t on a high horse in my original message; i was replying to your overall comment because it seems as if you are approaching this solely from what you think and your feelings towards that.

i very much doubt most people are thinking they are making genius observations so much as they are just…obeserving. viewers who aren’t artist are extremely intelligent and know more than they believe so which is it? you must know things to critique or you must not? by your logic's no one wins except on your own set goalposts.

if you think people are writing things and that is coming for you, your thoughts, what you like, your feelings or trying to degrade you....then that's on you to interrogate. if you have issues determining tone—and i think many users do for a variety of reasons and that's ok—then that's something that needs to be worked on.

it's for discussion and to comment. not say things everyone wants to hear fairly innocuously.

i have dyslexia too but not bad and adhd. i am a native speaker and so many people have an issue understanding me. one because they believe it to be an insult and another because they don't care. you're improving it and that's what matters. i had a scandinavian friend with very very bad dyslexia though he was fluent in spoken eng but he worked on it. we get your meaning. hope you don't feel bad it upsets me when people say that to me and it's worse when you're truly trying and there's the language barrier on top. good luck! also there's no such thing as true fluency we eng speakers don't know what is right/wrong with talking lol

purely from a larger standpoint i think it does more good than harm. also there is no pirating redirecting traffic basically which is a misconception i don't love given that availability changes and it isn't really any of our business. all the pirating sites have terrible ads-if you dont' have scripts for that—but it could still be more accessible. it doesn't matter why someone can't access it or the logistics—there's always going to be a reason why.

but the need for it is exactly part of its power. airing/sharing anything comes with a downside and it sucks when your work is taken but as one of my fav artists says....it's out there now so hopefully people can find the way back to her (i genuinely think it will.)

you're correct they arent big companies... to support your point... since it's a fact nowadays that we would rather pay for subscription to have things on demand/immediately than have to search for it then giving people the "proper" links would incentivize. should be a priority to make it known that there are free supportive options and one could support monetarily if they so choose

i am one of those suckers paying for subs (but genuinely cos i wanted to and feel bad that his stuff will inevitably be pirated and tht's a con but it comes with the internet unfortch) and in one of the mdl threads for a show he subs people will ask about links. if someone asks i mention this guy's patreon and then i'll just be like "if that's too hard just google i'm sure u can find it" and i have a bunch of scripts installed where i could do the same thing (pirate) but i made the choice to support, you know? so there's the double edged sword on the word of mouth thing (i hope this makes sense). people need to know it's there to get to it but need to get to it to support the owners

in other threads as well i notice a pattern, not specific to you, of people jumping to conclusions or genuinely not wanting to have a conversation and critique things (even if conversations can get heated/rude; if we can handle it we handle it and if we can't we should walk away) because it hurts their feelings or they feel some personal attack.

this site is for discussion and we all have diff perspectives—it seems to me like the words of others are being morphed and misrepresented and your approach is defense first then questions later. these are your opinions and if someone does not share the same ones you do and/or brings up valid critique on structure, technique, content sociopolitically then that's ok.

do you have a problem with the way people perceive the show and characters? if so, why does it seem to upset you so much?

if you are an artist then you understand this deeply and completely both how culture works and the audience's reception. this is par for the course; it's not like people are saying some out of pocket things that are homophobic, racist, awful etc

for others to perceive a character as a blank slate—which, let's face it, most dramas do this! it's a whole-ass trope—doesn't mean you have to or that other's shouldn't or can't make their own judgements.

dissent is simply not hate or being malicious.

unless people are getting real nasty or not bringing valid things to the table (like in a discussion, not casually) i see no reason for people to escalate their energy like who was even being that mad or upset or irritated you know?

i get you but maybe it isn't available to everyone? that is a complete possibility. not everyone has a VPN, or a computer, etc. google still exists and people will find it, you know? personally i find it fruitless and i understand where you're coming from but it also helps spread word it really does and i think there's value in that.
