love sang hee. honestly it's just a decent movie but it's fun to watch girls fall in love and to think about how single you are. it was a bit sad and up-and-down which a lot of qu**r sk films focus on but it introduced me to sang hee and i'm happy about it. i wish there were more movies like this, shorts, tv shows fucking anything. god i never want expansion of capitalism but please for the love of christ can we get some goddamn homosexual women!!!

i think they mean in terms of prod value since the show is pretty much impeccable technically from top to bottom which the majority of these shows just are not. it's like a cinematic experience so i get being confused if that's a main reason why one would like this and why op made the comparison.

(i do not plan to watch s2 of itsay and i didnt finish the last 20m of the last episode in s1 so i'm not so much a fan anymore but a very big appreciator. i believe something can and will be done on that level whether it's BL or not esp in thailand in the "mainstream" and i cannot wait to see it!)

yep and well-said. the escalation on here is almost entirely based on preference and a need to defend things that aren't being "hated" or disliked to the extent that they are. it's bonkers to me what people say on this website as if it doesn't exist for the very reason that we are all here. but this is what happens when ur identity is tied to intangible things i guess?? kind of a draggggg. i love hearing what ppl dislike abt a show most of the time. when i feel too invested and like it hurts my feelings/pisses me off if i see "negative' comments i step the hellll back . critique = / = hate

i get what ur saying but we should encourage people to do what they can not say stop with the pirated links or sharing of information. that's the best thingn we can do to help imo

the opposite of pirating isn't anti-pirating it's making things available and affordable. everyone has different circumstances and the hurdles to get some of these things is impossible. just like they may have small budgets, so do others. even for private work i would support pirating however i think that individual subbers should take precedent over these companies that will be fine. their work being taken is an issue bc they get little to no compensation (i pay a patreon fee for this thai dude's subs bc i can and i respect him for what he does.) ppl have diff circumstances and pirating isn't going anywhere and it's not on the consumer

*say this as an artist who has gotten their work stolen. it isn't ideal but i support it for the very reasons above

and yes for the dubs there has this tinny distant quality to it. in faraway wanderers i could just tell there was some sort of projection and the pitch was off; to me it didn't fit her character or her.

honestly in film school i had to do a silent and we shot everything no sound and had to put in foley and do the edit and i just like gave up at one point i couldnt be bothered it was so annoying LOL and honestly they told us "i mean u can dub it...but it wont be good" LOL

yea agreed. and it makes me really sad it stifles artistry. and while i do agree that chinese as a language is complex and has many differences but this is not just a chinese phenomenon.

as an american whose dad is an immigrant there's the same type of concepts in his home of nigeria—he is from a certain tribe with his certain language (but the secondary language is english of the country.) so logistically....well it's just not as tight of an answer anymore.

also i highly doubt on a set there's going to be people who absolutely cannot communicate—in fact they all can on a set bc they are also in china so that doesn't hold up as much about the differences because i am pretty sure everyone there is able to communicate. there is a standard dialect, correct? being mandarin? since taiwanese people can very much also understand—people in the diaspora too. there must be something missing here.

also even with being from different places...does every VA have the same dialect? it's just a bit confusing and splitting hairs because there is simply a way to integrate all aspects and they have done it before. and many shows i have seen that are asian will have subtitles bc of the dialects as well.

there's a lot of factors into it that i am sure but there's probs some deeper shit there. dubbing is almost impossible to get perfect which is why there's so much ADR used when people arent near cameras or their backs are turned. most of the time it's just REALLY hard to get it right and audio editing is expensive sooo. but you can mostly almost tell esp if they dont mix it up. and once someone tells u they dub a lot, ur screwed atp bc ull just know.

we need more! some are mixing both dubs and real sounds/voices and that's even better i think. there's no reason to rely on sound editors that much bc it's honestly really hard to dub and it's also an extra cost (ish!??!?!? i guess MAN IDK lmao cos u have to pay the actors and the Vas...)
