please tell me about your thoughts on ITSAY? i stopped for personal and political reasons but i personally think it is impeccable filmmaking but maybe that's bc i'm lloking at it from that aspect. i honestly dont have complaints for the show minus like sociopolitical stuff so i'm really curious to know what people's complaints are (i havent read reviews or anything, i no longer have an interest in that im just very very curious bc in my mind it's like....great lmao.) btw, there's a reason so many are praised but it's ok for you not to get it like....there's some dramas i HATE HATE that people love but more often than not if there's a lot of buzz around something it means more ppl will enjoy it. also word of mouth is hUUUUGE. i try to just go into things and feel them out bc there are soooo many dramas i love also that everyone does lmao same with music and art; i refused to listen to nirvana for a long time and now im a huge fan...jpshoaugijioka

trapped is....not great honestly but it's better tahn most of the rest of history which is an insane poorly written nightmare. i love trapped though and it's fun. i can't put it on par with this story tho bc it's not really...extremely well written? idk.

honestly a lot of it is not great, but it's the same as any genre right? a lot of women and young girls like it because there's a safety aspect i think, or desires they can't let out esp in asia, and for SOME not all bc a lot of ppl in the LGBTQ+ community do not care for it inside and outside of asia or "global south" (i am not a huge fan as a black american woman but the user below is an asian person but mentions ones worth watching_ but there's some decent stuff. it depends on the mood you are in and what you can stomach. just know there's going to be a lot of rape culture, misogyny, patriarchy, and all the pitfalls of "regular" romances and dramas

this one in particular is great escapism but also uplifting. like another user said "it's my thing" and that's how i feel about dramas in gen but particularly BL rn...it's hard to take seriously many times but you can definitely get into it. so many great comments in this thread. just think about it the same as "regular" dramas (gonna be dramatic here and say it's all capitalism) and youc an find many you enjoy. judge it on the same level you would anything else you want to watch and be able to understand where certain dramas are coming from. many of them are not to provide solace or a story but salaciousness but dramas like these you can tell it's just....more of a story? man idk what i am saying LMAO GODSPEED OK

this is really true about the romance aspect. i have a lot of problems with BL in general but that' spart of the whole media/mainstream as a whole. i personally didnt understand why i was drawn to it but it's the same reason i am drawn to asian dramas. the plot, story, and many of the romances are significant and magnificent (well mostly in j and kdramas not BL) but as an american there's very little pressure to watch so i feel less anxious about it. but woah the romance thing is very true cos i dont like to just watch two men kiss for no reason and i also like women so lmao.

im rewatching cause i never finished and i'm picking up on more stuff that i didn't notice. it' much better for me to wait until "hype" dies down so i don't feel so anxious in finishing and understanding. second watch rn on ep 3 is great. good character development, they have chemistry even knowing there's no like full on making out or whatever, also and also and also fuck keita is so fucking hot oh my god im a l o n e but i love his acting. i dont want to watch alice in borderland cos i saw sweet home and loved it and my brain is too much for the comparisons but he's a great actor idk i love watching him. by ep 2 or 3 we realize that adachi is actually made of a lot. i wouldnt do half the shit he w beould andeven though i am younger in a sense still. i'm headstrong but my anxiety would have gotten the best of me. i didnt pick up on this before but him running after kurosawa is a huge step i m o and he always had it in him. that's behavior i wouldnt exhibit not out of anxiety but immaturity and my coldness. didnt pick up on this the first time. good stuff.

my best friend loved HYD but she was so young you know. so i came to dramas when i was older and i watched this, kim sam soon (idk if you are more of a dorama fan but im guessing, this is from SK), pasta (SK) and it's pretty much all the same shit like very very VERY controlling men; sam soon's was abusive for sure but nothing like...shocked me like HYD lmao

i was so surprised that so many people loved it. i tried to put my mindset into like a teenage me but i couldnt i guess. it must be weird for people coming into adulthood to watch that. i tried hard to finish it like i watched the first season and there's like a follow up movie???? he is SO AWFUL AND ABUSIVE
