i don't think it's great. but honestly c-novels tend to GREATLY oversimplify humanity. like there's actually a point of good for people and those who are oppressed of course should fight back; it doesn't make these things equal. and honestly i think that was....very bad writing lmao. it's like he was in this impossible prison and it was overdone and insulting. and it doesn't account for the pain he feels it just makes him look evil. also the fact that he can't live and his disability is like making him insane. like i dont really get it but again i think they inspect morality so poorly so. it was well like...it was creepy you know also we got some good scenes in that cave. but uh yea

but that's not what they said. they may not like the genre as a whole. they may be a woman who doesn't like the misogyny etc. there's lots of reasons why people don't like it. they may not like being reminded of rape every five seconds or they may want a more substantial and solid storyline. many BLs are simply not enjoyable and the user says "it was an enjoyable experience."

i notice in c-novels/dramas they really focus on morality. i think that's a pretty big miss since it's such a black/white view imo like the characters are so hypocritical and aren't thinking deeply. i had the issue with the novel though so i didn't finish it.

however that being said i was really engrossed in the story even when i would get pissed at the stupid hypocrisy. apparently the show had lses sof a budget and i think for china it's probably a big budget for like.....someone like me lmao. but even so, i think i saw some complaints about the cgi and shit and honestly.....they did a great job with what they had. i stopped at around ep 20 and i may finish or may not. it was interesting, well done, a lot of technical things i wouldn't do but there's some good material in there. and zzh? what a face! simon's acting is still a bit creaky but he has improved for sure.

from what i saw it was really enjoyable and fun and what they got to put in was really interesting. i don't think it's worth it to debate on the ins-and-outs of BL when talking about chinese censorship because it's an amalgamation of things. these people (as in cast, crew, and governments) know what they are doing and how to do it. the stories and scripts go through review and get through what they get through but these things generate MASSIVE money and soft power so the censorship is so fucked but it's also like....they all know it's gay. and i think that not talking about the censorship in a broader context—like how BL is a basically mainstream media money minefield esp from asia and even "queer" stories or BL if we could call it that really puts itself in its own constrains—and just the material conditions of lgbtq+ people also lgbtq+ people who are minorities (gender and sexual minorities, racial minorities like mixed chinese people, mixed black chinese ppl, even in the way that different groups are presented in these) these are all limited. in fact so much of c-novels i have read really have a "foreigner" aspect issue and do not treat them with respect. these are all connected. to me it's shortsighted to get bogged down with china without attacking this whole structure which is fucking bullshit. even as a participant (ie viewer) like. it's bullshit.

anyway that being said they did a great job with the money they had i thinkn and for the most part i really enjoyed the production. on top of that, the chemistry. and when they did dub it wasn't too bad. i doubt i'll finish it but i can see why so many people liked it. also IMO it is more engaging than the book but i also cant read so

this would hold more if the bl industry didnt rely on capitalism and salaciousness. there's not really going to be an ethical depiction. additionally, there have been queer stories that are silent, particularly in other countries. of course they are doing this for capital; it's soft power in a way even BL executes that. it relies on patriarchy and doesn't subvert many things, misogyny, racism, transphobia. it's too narrow of a view imo and doesn't give context or history. like i wouldn't say that healthy depictions of same-sex relationships are even close to the intention of BL and that's because it works at the behest of capitalism and soft power. and what even is BL? its pretty much an expansion on the idea of queerbaiting i mean this is just not an "ethical" genre that does what it says. it's pretty much BL in the most basic of senses of what BL encapsulates. like obviously there is heavy innuendo but it's not like people don't know what it is. i think this is just too oversimplified
