I've seen quite a few detective shows. Will there be new ones soon or are there any underrated ones I might not…
i'm just gonna throw out some thrillers in general that are either quirky and weird as fuck but thrilling or just some favs (not specifically detective but things that you may like if you like this genre)

All those cats who were bashing Yoon Gyun Sang for the 12 year age gap with Kim Yoo Jung in their drama better…
It’s not about the men it’s about the gap and how frequently it is a trope. And this webtoon is gross. So yea, they do

Title The World of the Married Spoiler
dr. foster is based off of medea, a greek tragedy, adapted into a play by euripides, that's about a vengeful woman.…
that's pretty traumatic holy shit, i didnt know that about the film! idk why i wasnt expecting there to be one. i guess i know not to watch it :(

honestly when i read the play i was FURIOUS. i understand the impact and it's a greek tragedy but part of it is that since she's a mirror to society she does things that make you hate everyone (in the 2015 play she is literally unbearable and it's so sad but i was like PLEASE SHUT UP) the angrier version of her is the scariest. but everyone was using her kids as collateral so i guess it was the split the baby in half sitch. still, children are never ever meant to bear the pain and mistakes of the people who brought them into the world.

i doubt she will. if she does, this will go down as a HUGE drma flub. pretty insulting if so. and me too lmao betrayed by her husband AND her friends are garbage? no maam!

it's based on another show and is ostensibly about revenge...unless you can't stomach the premise at all but what…
i wrote more about it in my comment which is the latest (and my spoiler rly explains things) but it isnt supposed to. you never know with remakes tho but i think because the director's previous project was misty that they will stay true to the real message. otherwise the point of the show is lost.

i understand what you mean. it's more complicated though because humans have complex feelings. and love can be different things to different people. but the interpretations of these adaptations keep in mind that love is possible and you can hurt someone else especially between men/women and in a patriarchal society. i wouldn't say people don't think about it. honestly, a lot of people, a lot of men, just don't care or they dont see outside themselves. so sure he may love her, so what.

in fact, that is part of the problem. "he loves you so stay" but that doesn't mean shit. you can love and inflict immense pain on someone else. why should she stay just because of that? unfortunately (well unfortunately to me) a lot of women do forgive infidelity. i have a lot of critiques of relationships and the way they are portrayed, particularly cheating, but this is part of why i love this story actually. because her survival, life, and sanity becomes about her, not the love he may or may not feel but can't seem to enact healthily and respectfully

Title The World of the Married Spoiler
i love kim hee ae. i just love looking at her. i don't even like secret affair but shes so regal. i don't want…
dr. foster is based off of medea, a greek tragedy, adapted into a play by euripides, that's about a vengeful woman. it's a complicated story and i have only read the 2015 stageplay (which isn't amazing imo, but it's short and online.) i warned you above so. in the play medea murders the new wife (glauce) of her ex-husband (jason), glauce's father (creon), as well as the two sons she had with jason. after, she runs off to a new place (i 4got) with her kid's bodies

in all the adaptations i know of thereafter it's either up to the viewer/reader to decide if she really kills he kids/went on a murderous rampage or she just flees with her children (this one i prefer.) so really she can't get back with her husband. in the plays they are already divorced but the shows she is suspecting an affair which leads to her revealing some crazy shit. at some point in the play(s) she apologizes for "going crazy" basically and making a big deal of the situation but other adaptations may interpret that as forgiving him whilst they are still married.

either way, medea is supposed to gain back her life in the end. the feminist reading is that it's about a mother existing in a patriarchal society; there are relentless expectations that limit her from realizing herself fully but any acts of pushing back are seen as unhinged/crazy or she looks barbaric. personally, i read her acts from dr. foster (lmao i havent seen it all and probs never will cos adhd but i know what happens——here is a review comparing the show to the 2015 retelling that i enjoyed reading https://dramaqueensreview.com/2015/10/20/from-doctor-foster-to-medea-almeida/) as cracks in herself. she does go insane or does crazy shit but how could she survive and be sane under these conditions? is she not allowed anger? so if she forgives him truly and ends up with him it would be a sincere misreading and degradation of what this piece meant—though obviously euripides wasn't a feminist—and has come to mean.

"Sooner would I stand
Three times to face their battles, shield in hand,
Than bear one child!"
- forgot about this line and saw it referenced on wiki, from the og play (but i think it might be at the end of the 2015 play but it's really not a memorable play, just interesting and the first time i heard of this story)

I am sorry but the synopsis is off on one small detail. "he loves his wife". Yeah, nope. He might like her, he…
it's based on another show and is ostensibly about revenge...unless you can't stomach the premise at all but what it's based off of, what happened isnt acceptable!
On The World of the Married Mar 31, 2020
i love kim hee ae. i just love looking at her. i don't even like secret affair but shes so regal. i don't want to watch her get back with him, though, i can't do it. if it's a remake i'm guessing they stay faithful to it. the director's last project was misty (which i hated) and the writer's isnt too promising but lets cross our fingers.

love a woman that lashes out on a world that tells her she can't when she's mad. btw doctor foster (so effectively both) are based on medea . i am going to write a comment with spoilers which will "spoil" the play (but not really because it's been out for literally centuries.) part of it pertains to the greek tragedy ONLY but is imperative to understanding all adaptations. it is incorporated into all endings. so if you dont want to read it dont click the spoiler

peeve: kinda sad this is 19+ because there's 'sex scenes' like..teenagers know what the fuck is going on. this gets as wild as regular tv. film sex scenes go all out (koreans rly be wylin too and i looove it) it's disappointing that it has this tag even though teens will see it anyway

It was planned hahahaThe early sinopsis, when it was announced before shooting, gave the ending away.
are u sure w that storyline? if so that's even worse if that's the best a writer could do.
Jeana Mar 16, 2020
the problem seems to be with the writing and not the characters. and the actresses. imo it's not a question about strong/weak. "strong" FLs can be written horribly (witch's court, itaewon class, misty) where their rhyme has no reason. or it could be a sky castle type deal where these strong women lean in to being batshit fucking crazy. like in kingdom with the queen. it's all in execution and care. i agree with your premise but the blame should be atp on the world created (and the poor acting.) but it's not who the characters are at their core? it's the way they are perceived? in fiery priest honey lee's character is screechy and so useless at fighting adn incredibly girly but she's so fucking funny, weird, cool, irritatingly conniving and here's a FL that you just. get frustrated with. and love.

anyways CH used to be my faaav kdrama one of the first i watced but i think i was like idk 21? and PMY chooses rly.......specific characters. atp most romances are shitty and wmoen who are competent in fighting still have to rely on men. this was tenfold for back when CH came out. i'm pretty shocked at how much i liked it at the time and loved her character when she had to be rescued by this dumb man 24/7.like they thought placing women there would be enough but didnt do enough to care.

another hae young is a shit drama imo. but i stopped in the kiss scene in the rain bc that guy was a piece of shit. i actually liked her she was messy but it was real enough and i like the actress. it was pretty sexist ^___^ where is the male responsibility? that isnt to say that these flaws are not there. i believe it. couldnt get past ep 1 of black cos i knew i was gonna hate her character lmao

acting is a huuuuge factor tho so that + just terrible understanding fo women or trying to pander to things women do like bc we are so used to seeing it in these shows are the failed results. not focusing on these women as people. or getting good actresses for some. oh and proof for all acting that looks just are not enough. that's something that rly pisses me off.but like wat do we expect lol. every1 has diff tastes tho (for ex i do not care for my ahjussi largely bc of IU but i know that's a pretty popular show across the board.)
