i mean not everyone is as lucky as you or i. and of course people's internal lives are different. but the world puts children before parents always, particularly because children are not taken seriously and are very harmed by all us adults, and if someone had told me that this trend in all movies and tv shows—no matter the culture, but particularly in mine and non-western cultures (for a reason—is not actually the reality; where people forgive their caregivers easily and everything is okay with nothing to show for it...i would have tried to change my situation sooner. we can't change anyone but the same reason that hee joo stayed is the same reason that i and many others did in their varied circumstances. i want people to know, and see, that there ARE other options especially for people as egregious as those like her mother. the response above mine lays it out well, how she probably /won't/ change.
