the trend of murder to solve societal problems in kdramas is stressing me out lol . i just want to watch something weird cry. it seems good but that was never my cup of tea ;-;
This might be random, but can someone make an article and discussion about the weird bandwagon hate of some kdrama…
idk abt the rest but a lot of these gritty dramas are exhausting bth i wish they'd switch it up. but DP is a bit different for me. the issue with netflix getting these shows isn't something most ppl talk abt but for me it's a sociopolitical reason not losing culture. bc their culture will always be there nominally bc they /don't speak english/ and language is a huge part of it.
guys it is not that fucking serious about the sex in this show; there's no instance that showing it is actually "bad"/"unnecesary" just by showing it. like are we joking. i thought it would be crazy lmaooo only one comment has touched on and explained their discomfort in a way that makes sense wrt sexism. i do wonder if the show contends with female sexuality and sex back then and how it translates to a modern audience. the women bathing him shirtless, blindfolded, and in loincloths (masculizing the maids/prostitutes/harem—i put them all together because functionally in this show they are the same types of subjugation and often merge).
is a viewer interpretation of this—while his wife who also fits the bill of a captive in patriarchy but has (unearned) power over these women and eunuchs—just my belief and my preferences for art? there is a sociopolitical meaning but does it go in the proper direction? (even if there's a latent male gaze ish situation. which is always going to happen lol even from women). i'm not sure. artists aren't stupid but is that what these men are saying? i don't know if the rest of the team is women but the director and screenwriter are men while the story is focused on a woman and a king in a society where non-monogamy is to ensure power and capital and sex is not a mechanism of pure pleasure which mirrors our reality still (though the nuclear family generally takes its place in our capitalist societies). i'm not sure though i know jeo jeong seo talked about being a woman in this male dominated work and depictions in sageuks. so.
that being said i don't think this show is that fun or engaging (actually idk i am going to watch again and pay more attn) lol and some of the acting is sometimes low...but if this went from an 8.1 to a 7.8 to a 7.7 because of the tame ish scenes and the frequency of them then idk what to tell people lol. that's rly sad. sex is not going to go away and if you ignore it you're worse off for it imo
no lol i wish. not even GOT rly tbh which was oversaturated and dumb so idk what is so upsetting for ppl lol
i don't think that's really true lol i think you need to venture out a lil bit nor do i think it is important to uphold. they could and should do whatever the fuck they want in their art and that means a bunch of things.
but another counterargument: this idea is part of sexism and doesn't help women at all.
Surely there might be sensual kisses else that would be a waste of jung hae in, but not heavy makeout or sex,…
sorry i didn't mean it like that lol like any physical affection not be so chock full of awkwardness and women not moving their mouths. kissing is one of the best activities!
Both Jung Hae In and Jung So Min are known for their great kiss scenes and creating great chemistry. That’s…
her kissing in that one show with seo in guk left a little to be desired but i need to watch more of it to see. they had chemistry and sig is a good kisser.
i love the intensity. love it. bright star is bri'ish but one of my fav movies it's emblematic of that but a) they kissed like people do b) american and western shows suck at intimacy too and even if they have people getting freaky it can lose its sensuality. c) they can move their lips (i have seen it!) d) why do they do that lmao not every show does this, and it's not just on cable/streaming that they show more. it really bugs me and a lot of the audience and not just westerners
If you are after sex, nudity and lots of steamy kissing, then Kdrama is not the place to find them. Not this series,…
i have been watching kdramas since i was in my 20s and now im 100 lol it is absolutely possible for them to at least look human and physically into each other. and entired funding by an american company is hilarious i think koreans don't need americans to be able to show this in their art and thank fucking god
sorry if i sound rude but it's like....yea i know what kdramas have and dont have. this is a common trend and if an actor is putting it in their contract that they don't want to move their lips i want to know why lol what is the point in having all of that and they cannot even express themselves the way one would irl im not saying get naked and fuck just like. look alive!
I recommend you to go watch telenovelas if you want steamy romance. Kdramas won't do that, maybe sometimes only…
i have been watching kdramas for yeaaaars i think i just meant wanting the physical chemistry that comes along with the other forms of chemistry. we are waiting for it to physically manifest! (and not take so goddamn long) lmao but thank you for all these recs! that's so exciting omg! saved these. i want to reiterate it's not the sex itself or wahtever i need or "steam" bc we can fuck that up but just. liking each other actually liking each other in a space. into the ring is a good example of this!
the wailing is one of my favorite movies of all time—it also touched on colonialism and japan. such a great film. what a shame about this but the review was helpful!
