I watched a YouTube video with some spoilers, and apparently Ms. Du sends someone to kidnap the FL and have her sent to a brothel as revenge. That’s where the FL runs into Ji Er, and I believe Ji Er will help her escape.

I know this isn’t a romance-focused drama, but I hope our ML gets some supportive wingmen like the four boys in The Prisoner of Beauty. I mean, every ML needs a little support too! 😂

For me the last one that i enjoyed with great chemistry and lots of silent tension was splendid match.

Maybe OP simply had different expectations. Perhaps they were expecting a more theatrical, almost cartoonish type of villain—the exaggerated wide-eyed stare, sinister smirk, evil laugh, side-eyes, sudden bursts of rage, aggression, meltdown and all those obvious “look, I’m the villain” mannerisms.

Yoo Seung-ho chose a much more restrained and psychological approach. He made the character unsettling through stillness, subtle changes in expression, controlled emotion, and the contrast between vulnerability, awkwardness, resentment, and menace. There are a lot of emotional undercurrents in the performance even though the script never fully fleshed out the character’s backstory.

So for me, he wasn’t lacking in range at all. If anything, he overdelivered. His portrayal feels like it belongs in a psychological thriller of its own—he basically delivered a great performance in the wrong channel lol.

I think this is what separates truly skilled actors from standard ones.

In typical idol dramas, even average acting can make a romance feel believable because the script does so much of the work for them—the injured ML being cared for by the FL, the FL falling off a cliff only to be rescued by the powerful ML, piggyback rides, forced proximity, kiss scenes… all the usual romantic setups.

Then you have actors like our leads, who can create incredible sexual tension without even touching each other. No dramatic setup needed—it’s all in the eyes, the pauses, and the way they look at each other.

Agree. I love how her character is not revenge driven and she doesn’t have victim mentality. Instead she just focused on living. And that itself is a form of being strong
