Road to splendor started great and then once the ML climbed up the ranks, the script writer decided to bully him Non stop. It was too much it lost the balance. I also dropped by last 6 episodes.

No i believe that is what good actors and good writing do. They let actors do the work, leak out emotions and make viewers think.
However in a more standard idol drama, the script writer would have added a cheesy line like ‘ i didn’t realise you are good looking” then let the FL lean her head to the ML. That way the actors don’t do much work because the scene is already set up to be fluffy.

I haven’t watched him in anything before, but I can already tell he’s a good actor. His microexpressions are incredibly subtle, yet expressive enough to speak volumes.
You know what I think? Seung-won’s character was probably originally meant to be a relatively small cameo role, which would explain why his backstory feels so underwritten and underdeveloped. But Yoo Seung-ho delivered such a compelling and layered performance that the character ended up feeling much bigger than what was actually written.
It almost feels like the role needed to be fleshed out more to match the weight of his performance, but there was only so much they could do when he had just four episodes to show everything—his childhood trauma, relationship with his mother, psychology, murderous impulses, vulnerability, and eventual unraveling.
That’s why there’s such a noticeable gap between the writing and the performance. Yoo Seung-ho made Seung-won feel like a character who deserved an entire psychological thriller, but the script only had enough space for a four-episode villain arc.
