Bronze madel of year! How moon yong's mother Survive? How Gang Tae and Sang Tae Living Without mother? This drama…
The best part is the argument of this being "character-driven" rather than "plot-driven" drama, therefore illogical plot points and plot holes are , what? expected? acceptable? I could excuse the missing mother and the kids fending for themselves (the story forces you to take on faith many things that happen off screen - they could've lived in a foster home, for example, or maybe they were beggars on the streets, but somehow the one had enough money to put himself through nursing school? maybe he had a sugar mama?) but they went to such great lengths to show the mother dying and dead, why bother if you're just going to bring her back to life with zero explanation? This is bad story-telling. A character-driven story is meant to drive the plot through forces within the characters' psyche/behaviors, it doesn't mean the plot is illogical.
A movie like Burning comes to mind - you're left to wonder what the heck actually happened, and draw your own conclusions, but only because there are several ways the outcome can be interpreted, and ALL of them make sense. Not because it's illogical and there are plot holes. This cop-out really annoys me.
TLDR: i finished this drama out of FOMO, because the last 4 episodes didn't make sense. The ending had some good moments, but it was mostly fan service.
I love dramas I can relate to, and sadness puddles are my catnip. This is a 1-2 punch that I didn't see coming, and I'm loving every second of it. I'm glad for whatever article I was reading early last year that made me discover Song Weilong, because I otherwise wouldn't have checked this drama out, and what a huge loss would that have been, phew!
I dropped this series, on episode 13. I just can't deal with how they portray drama, the worst part is that the…
FOMO kept me going through the last 4 episodes. The last one has some good bits, but it had lost me already. This would've been much better with 12 episodes.
I am loving this drama beyond words, I'm not even skipping the credits at the start or end because they're so emotional even on their own, but there's something that's niggling at me. As I was watching ep 6 today, it struck me that there isn't a single adult female character with any redeeming qualities (yet.. hope springs eternal).
A good female character doesn't negate the importance, the love, and support of the two dads. I'm glad they're representing the two dads as completely capable of raising a loving family - kudos to the production and the censors for gifting us this dynamic!
Ziqiu's aunt seems to be turning around, it's good that she seems to take feedback and is supportive in a constructive manner. Her growth is encouraging, as a positive model in the drama's ecosystem.
Did you watch live? It's a good kdrama too and shin dong-wook is so perfect there ?❤
I had to come back and tell you I started Live and it's lovely! But I'll be damned, SDW giving me SLS again? Can't catch a break... I may have to rewatch Soulmate lol. Got through Cloud Stairs as well, it was a fun watch, even if the acting and production was kinda bad.
The young ones have a brother/sisterhood, yes. There will be some sort of rivalry when Bang Won is pushed out…
The fact that she refuses to be a concubine *from the beginning* because that's all that she could be, because she's a peasant, sealed the deal. This never changed. It doesn't mean they stopped loving each other, but if she was unwilling to marry because she wouldn't want to be a concubine (and when she thought doing it would give an advantage to her group, that wasn't for love, hence still the relationship was still doomed). I also just finished rewatching it recently, funny how our interpretations are different.

Concubine isn't the same as wife, no? She never wanted that anyway, thus the doomed to fail. By the time she agreed, only to save the others, it wasn't the way he wanted it to be. And still, no love triangle
Thank you! Glad to know I'm not alone. I stopped at episode 5 for a long time, as soon as their childhood connection was revealed. After a loud groan and push of the "back" button, I didn't look back for a while. I picked it up again because I was bored and the JCW visuals was what got me through.
I didn't get (or really didn't care) why Yoo Ji Tae's character was looking for the girl, nor what the big boss guy gained by luring his brother the way he did, and propping him up (just to cover up a story? With the money that he has, was it even necessary?). That whole story with the corrupt people, whoever they were, left me bored and not caring about the story.
You're right about the reunion with the mom, it was anti-climactic.
I'm glad I watched for the smiles that JCW flashes, they were worth the slog, but I wouldn't recommend it either.
I'm so confused by the people who like this drama. It's so dry and a bunch of people looking seriously unhappy.…
Too many stories that move at glacial speed? I love makjangs, and was excited that this one turned out to be a makjang lite, but I'm with you, there's something that doesn't sit well.
The two sisters annoy me - one behaves like a child and the other looks eternally bothered by everything - mainly because she plays the victim under all circumstances, to the extent everyone walks on eggshells around her - they've both gotten very repetitive and boring to watch. The other thing is what led to the breakdown of the parents' marriage. Really? An underlined passage in a book? Really?

It's on my list! I finished Soulmate a couple of days ago and it killed me, it's so good! He's soooo good!! I'm working forwards from there, watching Cloud Stairs now haha. I'll get to Live soon, thanks for the recommendation!
Just finished this gem of a drama and my heart is full. I love it when a drama makes me smile through tears, also when it makes me belly laugh, and this one didn't disappoint. I enjoyed it from beginning to end, what a great ride!
The best part about My Unfamiliar Family was that it brought me to this drama, through Shin Dong Wook. He and this drama are part of my favorites now. I feel I'm so late to the game, lots to catch up on now :)
Same tbh. Just want to see how it wraps up. What is the little brother hiding?
Personally, I have a feeling he's just a nervous kid and there's no depth to him. That whole dynamic in the video production office is annoying to watch, with the girl, too.
