Since you watched ALP on your end, then I will also advise you to let you know, the father-son moment in ALP when Bai Jue took YuanQi to the Mortal Realm didn't exist in the Novel (to Hidden God).

YuanQi's character, the ML, is based of it's Novel Adaptation, so in the Novel, Kid YuanQi never get to have any moments with his father (Baijue), in it's prequel Novel (Shang Gu), so if you think why YuanQi view the God Realm is a cold place, it is quite understandable looking at his character in the novel to be honest.

Just something to keep in mind when you're watching The Last Immortal

It's worth watching if you have an open mind and is open for something new and not the typical over power ML from the start.

The Last Immortal talks about the growth on the characters especially the Male Lead in the story.

You also need to bear in mind that 200 years old in xianxia world is still quite young so you shouldn't judge him like you would be for an adult (which some people I've seen failed to understand). At the beginning you can regard Gujin (ML) as a young teen, where he's going through his own experiences into an adult in the end.

It's worth watching because at the end you see how much the characters have grown through their experiences and journey.

When you watch the drama, if you understand the concept and accept that every character have their own flaws but they will grow and improve on it later and you can persevere to the end, then it is rewarding IMO.

The angst starts at around episode 20 something, but even before then I already come to love and understand the ML and why he felt that way before all this. It is not hard to understand his feelings tbh

In the end, the decision is yours. You can ask the question and we answer you but whether you give the drama a chance is up to you. To me, those who don't give this drama a chance and just listen to bias reviews against this drama is missing out on this hidden gem.

My advise is that if you're going to start watching this then try to also take a step back and see it through all characters perspective and not just one person perspective.

For me, I love the ML and the Main pairing in this one. Yes he didn't start off as perfect but he's really grown on me throughout the journey that I've watched him experience. So in the end he's among my favourite character list in the overall.

If you're a Lusi fan then you should give this drama a chance since she really have great chemistry with Wang Anyu in this drama

And you do realize that you're actually comparing a Xianxia age to a normal human age don't you.. lol.

Immortals can live over 200 years or 10's and thousands of years.

What you're saying doesn't negate that fact that you're comparing two people with a huge age difference together in terms of their wisdom for said character.

Yuanqi at most in the drama at the end is 2200 years old

Bai Jue is over 60k years.

The two characters have an age gap of 57800 years apart.

But guess what, of course the person who has lived longer will have more wisdom and experiences.

If you want to be fair then you can compare Yuanqi to his father when his father was 200-2200 years old but of course we don't know what Baijue is like since we only first saw him when he's over 60K Years.

Except the time when we saw a flashback of Baijue in his childhood when the ancestral gods took him to the battlefield and he was scared and afraid but he was harshly trained by the ancestral gods to become who he is in ALP that we came to know.

But you know what, if that's how YOU want to perceive and judge YQ like that. I'm not going to go into this anymore.

I've said all I needed to say.

You are free to love Baijue better, I'm not going to stop you, but I felt you really don't understand YQ's character experiences if you can judge him like that tbh

You do realize that it is all part of a growing phase on an individual life experience don't you.

No one start off as smart but you learn from the life experience you go through and become the character you are at the end.

When you judge two characters with a huge age gap like that, that is when you called being unfairly judged here.

Why do you find the need to compare a 200 year old ML(at the beginning) to a 60K+ ML is beyond me.

Yuanqi at most is 2200 years old at the end.

Everyone starts off as a blank sheet of paper, BUT their experiences will shape who they will become in the end.

Honestly considering Yuanqi's age in TLI , he's still smarter than those immortals who is older than him.

1. God Realm has reopened again the moment Baijue (Yuanqi's father, in TLI drama, his name was changed to Di Juan ) returned, but those who is below God Status cannot enter the God Realm.

2. Yes Yuanqi(ML) and Fengyin (FL) did end up together in the end. It's a happy ending that makes sense for all characters. The main pairing have their happy ending too, for me personally not on a satisfying note since I wanted something more, but everyone is different. You can see for yourself when that time comes.

3. It was shown in a flashback in TLI, that what happened to his parents: his father sacrificing himself for them and his mother kneeling at the ancestral gods have impacted little Yuanqi on an emotional level where he lost his god powers... Perhaps this is something to do with how psychologically speaking about his feelings of being a True God . They never explained in detail in the drama but that was touched on when he actually lost his God powers.

Sometimes you don't need to die or whatever to lose the power lol. And you cannot really belittle the emotions and feelings of what a young child is going through. On an emotional level I can understand what he's going through and the reasons in the drama why he lost it could be because it was both emotionally and psychological too.

That's my take on the situation from the drama perspective and that flashback since from that day onwards, Yuanqi really did view the God Realm is a place that is cold and lacks love. He actually said it at the beginning, how he views the God Realm so yeah, that is quite sad to be honest from his perspective but completely understandable in my eyes. I don't blame why he felt that way.

From my memory when I watched ALP ending again was she started kneeling and then 500 years time skip showing BJ returning to her so she have knelt for 500 years from that calculation but in terms of waiting for Baijue that is more than 500 years since she didn't start off kneeling at the ancestral gods until she made up her mind

Well to be fair on Yuanqi he is only 200 at the beginning, 1200 when that part happened and 2200 years old at the end.

Bai Jue, Tianqi, Zhiyang and Shang Gu is at least 60k years. They have lived longer and have gained a lot of wisdom on their end through those years that they've lived

In the end I respect that people can love which they love better that's up to them but I find it unfair when people start to judge Yuanqi based on how they show a different side to their lover even if they're true gods.

Since them showing a different side when it comes to their lover is personally what I love in the character as added bonus.

What I'm trying to say is that no one starts off as perfect but their experiences is what shaped them to who they are in the end. In TLI we are watching a journey from Yuanqi growing up into an Adult. In ALP we already seen True Gods who has lived through all those years of wisdom. That's the difference between the two stories.

But even though Yuanqi is 200 years old from the beginning to 2200 years old at the end, being a True God, he still have made similar choices to his father, Baijue even when he had taken different paths to show it on their end.

You said it perfectly omg, this is why I love Gujin at the beginning too!!!

He never hurted A-Yin and I honestly love how he trusts her as well.

He definitely treat A-Yin specially as well and yes, I see him as the gentleman type but I also love the side to him when he found out Hua Shu true colours , although he doesn't outright say it but you can see that he keeps up a cold front when she tried to make her way into his heart again.

I love that scene when they were locked in that room by Hongchou how even when Huashu purposely cut herself, Gujin kept his distance and just gave her the medicine to apply it herself and didn't even express any concern as he would have if that was A-Yin.

His good qualities is endless for me and the more I rewatch the drama again the more I came to love and appreciate him more ☺️

Yeah I love that moment between Yuanqi and Hongyi since I really love their friendship and how they care for each other

They are similar and reminds me to Tianqi and Baijue as well to be honest since the sense they give off is the same except Tianqi and Baijue is more like brothers since Yuanqi calls Tianqi 3rd Uncle.

Happy watching in ALP. Hope you will enjoy that one too. Personally I also love the story of his parents in ALP as well.

But just FYI in the drama ALP, Kid Yuanqi didn't get to experience some of the things Novel Kid Yuanqi did (like spending those times with his father which was added in ALP), and since The Last Immortal Yuanqi was adapted from its novel, I felt sorry for Yuanqi in TLI even more and understood why he didn't want to return to God Realm at first and why he view the God Realm is a cold place. But that being said I still love how his parents is among those few people that is very important to him.

Ancient Love Poetry takes place before The Last Immortal timeline.

In the Last Immortal at the beginning, this takes place during the time when Shanggu (Yuanqi's mother) kneeled at the Ancestral Gods to revive Baijue, and when Yuanqi was sent to Daze mountain to cultivate

And you need to also keep in mind that what Novel Kid Yuanqi experience is not the same as Drama kid Yuanqi since in the drama the screenwriters in ALP added a bonus moment where Baijue spends time with Yuanqi which novel kid Yuanqi never get to experience.

During this time, in the novel, she closed the God Realm and made a rule that unless you ascended to being a God, you cannot enter the God Realm, so that is when she closed the God realm since her heart and mind is preoccupied with kneeling at the Ancestral Gods to revive Baijue.

So at the beginning when ML in TLI is under the identity as Gujin( his true god identity being hidden), Baijue is dead, Shanggu in the God Realm is still kneeling at the Ancestral Gods.

After the 1000 years time skip that takes place in The Last Immortal, Baijue would have already returned to the God Realm since in ALP, it was revealed that Shanggu kneeled for 500 years before Baijue was returned to her, like we saw in the ALP ending when Shanggu ran up to hug him at the end of ALP drama

In the drama it was shown through the flashback that he lost his god powers due to what happened to his parents.

That's why he was sent to Daze mountain for training

I also noticed it on my rewatch you can see the differences to how he treats A-Yin when compared to Huashu.

It is like what Qing Yi said to Gujin that what he felt for Huashu and the way he expresses it is more out of gratitude that she helped him back then, not love.

But on a side note I really love how he made a clean break with Huashu when it happened though.

I felt the chemistry from WAY towards ZLS in his character though.

As a matter of fact his feelings for her is more or so express through subtleness that I like and you can see it in his actions and his eyes when he expresses it.

But chemistry in the end and how we feel towards it is dependent on the individual person.

If you don't feel it even after watching till the end then I have nothing else to say.

I personally love and felt their chemistry in their characters as Yuanqi and Fengyin (to the point it brought out the emotions in me when it happened.)

Alright if you want to go there and compared Yuanqi in TLI and having double standard about it then

In ALP:
Baijue, Tianqi and EVEN Zhiyang have a childish side to them in the God Realm as well.

Anyone who watched ALP have seen it so why are you having the double standard here?

Did you not see their childish side in the God Realm?

Baijue... He was tricked by his divine beast when he wrote what to say to Shanggu to apologize and after he read all that he realized what he just said and have to leave immediately.

Baijue at one point even wanted to take Shanggu away because he didn't want her to go through her own tribulation when he found out.

Tianqi, he got the red thread master help to want to tie the red thread to pair him and Shanggu in the God Realm and have also played a role in contribution to what happened to the Day and Night God and ended up being punished by it.

Even Baijue revealed an embarassing moment on Zhiyang when he went down to the three realms at one point. The details was even revealed too.

What I'm trying to say is... In ALP, True Gods are true gods but when they are in love , they will show another side to them that doesnt act like a true god. They will just reveal the side to them like any ordinary man being in love. That's what makes us love them to begin with because it shows a more human side to them with emotions and not always carrying this true god aura of indifference etc.

Those who have seen that episode know why Yuanqi got Hongyi drunk. And those who understood him will not fault him either.

Yuanqi as a True God have made similar choices to his father, Baijue even when he have taken different paths to achieve it in the end. In ALP, Baijue will go as far as having his family hate him to go through with his plan(which from his views it is understandable why he would), Yuanqi would rather spend the remaining days he have left with Fengyin to create more happier memories so their won't be any regrets left for her when he's gone. In the end BOTH Baijue and Yuanqi, in their respective story will choose to protect the woman they love with their whole being and carry out the True God responsibilities in sacrificing themselves to protect the woman they love AND the three realms...So it is similar if you look at it.

What Yuanqi gave Fengyin as his wedding dowry shows his love, where it shows us he is willing to give his everything that he has to her, that was his sincerity when he did it. What he did in that moment was pretty much a slap to Huashu because she wanted YQ support(as a True God) and Qingchi Palace, but in the end she FAILED. So honestly, I personally really love that scene since it serves 2 purposes that I love. Yuanqi's love and devotion to Fengyin AND a slap to Huashu's face.

As far as chemistry goes if you don't see ZLS chemistry with WAY then we can agree to disagree since I felt their chemistry already from the beginning which extended to outside the Drama in the BTS, livestreams and interviews etc.

Because his true gods powers is sealed. So when he doesn't have them he is just like any immortals going through the stages of ascension with the thunder trial.

I guess this is only to show the fairness in ranks and hierarchy there. Everyone have to go through their own tribulation in their story.

...... I felt the chemistry between them(Wang Anyu and Zhao Lusi) right from the beginning and that only got stronger throughout the end.
