I'm not sure if you know but there is an episode 41 ending. But if after watching episode 41 and that's your feeling…
In the novel they both became the spirit inside the sword after they "die" and then they were able to cultivate a physical body afterwards.
There was a time skip of 100 years later and you can see them being able to go to the mortal realm freely and from time to time so judging by what I know of the ending in the novel it is similar. That's a happy ending in episode 41 for me already.
What I got out of that battle is that Yin Fan cannot be heartless towards her to forget his love for her to perfect the final stage of the Heart Mirror Spell. And he cannot bring himself to kill her again the second time. If this happened wouldn't fans be more upset because it's like back to square 1 in Chong Zi first life. So for me personally I saw that more like a development AND a contrast to how back then he had no choice but to kill her with his sword to protect Nanhua but this time, he chose to sacrifice himself to save her from being the matyre to the sword forever (since she already offered her body to the sword like what happened to Chu Bu Fu).
As much as people don't like that part and how it was written? But for me I can still pick up some details which makes me appreciate it for these details that it wanted to imply.
I may be a minority but that part when it revealed that it was an act from Yin Fan when he put his sword in reverse to have Chong Zi kill him(she was going all out), and when Yin Fan told Chong Zi to not be afraid and that it's now over. For me personally I did cry in that scene because I love how they play out their emotions in that scene... She is saved from Ni Lun Sword because she was cleansed by Heart Mirror spell. That did came at the expense of Yin Fan death though since he rather die than to let go of his love for her... I love that message...
It was Chong Zi choice in the end to want to go into the sword and them being a spirit together, because she couldn't live in a world without him in it. Yin Fan would do the same too if the situation was reverse since he made it clear to the immortals when he blasted his Min Shixiong that if Chong Zi is dead, he won't live on either... So to me it's just the reverse scenario of that scene from what Chong Zi showed me when she went into the sword as well.
The only thing I didn't like about how that ending was written in drama perspective is how they handled Wang Yue cuz that to me made no sense but for the other parts of that ending I don't have a problem with it from what I said above.
If they have ended in episode 40, I would have rant and be angry with it but they didn't end at episode 40 like that. We got a bonus extra episode in 41 where both Yin Fan and Chong Zi is alive at the end where they have a physical body again so that's a happy ending to me.
In the end, I agree it can be done better on some parts but comparing to some other badly written dramas this one is definitely NOT the worst to be given a rating of 1-3 or a rating of under 5 IMO. But everyone is different I guess...
LYF killing her in her past life, needed to happen for the progress of the story into their second life. At least…
Similar to "Wang Yue", but in the novel (Fly to the Moon) , he seems to be less ruthless to me. I mean he still want to accomplish that end result but you also get to learn more about his past as well.
He also has a loyal servant in the novel following him all this time known as Lan Chi. I wish he was in Journey of Chongzi instead of that woman though since I love his interactions with Yue(God of Moon) in the novel.
God of Moon in the drama Song of the Moon portrayal is very different to who he is in the novel. In the novel he is a "Grey character", in the drama he wasn't.. in the novel he was alive all this time and no evil spirits controlling him like how the drama has it.
Just a reminder that scriptwriters have far less power in the Chinese system when compared to their American counterparts.…
Chinese censorship has gotten even stricter throughout the years so there are censorship guidelines and process that they need to follow.
The script writer can write the story for a drama adaptation like this
The actors will do their best to play out their characters (actors should never be the one to blame since they only do their part to go with the script)
Then once they finished with the filming process comes the Editing process.
This is the final process before the drama gets review by censorship so if you see choppy editing like disconnected scenes is due to scenes being deleted to fit the censorship guideline.
At the end of the day it's in the editing process whether they are BOLD enough to test the waters and submit the drama for review.
If censorship guidelines isn't so strict and if people doing the final editing is bold enough than we may have gotten a better final product than what we were given IMO.
How is the ending? Can someone give me spoilers? How bad is it?
You need to watch episode 41 ending if you want a happy ending.
Unfortunately for now you have to pay to watch that ending. I did pay on wetv, but I wanted to download a copy on my end. Hopefully someone post it online to share so we can download it.
I do love the ending to episode 41 though. That's a happy ending for my favourite cp.
Can any one where i can watch ending with eng sub?
Episode 41 ending? Unfortunately can only be watched on WeTv app from what I know. I can't even screen record it sadly so I hope someone manage to share it online since I want to download that ending on my end..
Oh oh, you really let loose there 🤣 🤣 🤣There are so many rules around C-dramas, why can't there be one…
They became lazier as you can notice that nowadays xianxia dramas ending is not as fulfilling like how it used to be.
This could be due to censorship has gotten stricter over the years.
And yeah we can blame censorship guidelines for that but honestly one of the things I really hate is that when the actors and actress pour their heart into acting those scenes but when it comes to the editing side of things it got deleted or never made it to the final product..
I read that even the scene that Jeremy said he likes was deleted... That's just sad...
When it comes to censorship I see that whether they are BOLD enough to do it. I mean looking at censorship side of things, Word of Honour was more bold when compared to the Untamed. So I think it's a matter of will they test the waters or not just deleting all those scenes when it comes to editing which in the end loses its emotional connection when the drama finally aired...
Oh oh, you really let loose there 🤣 🤣 🤣There are so many rules around C-dramas, why can't there be one…
🤣🤣🤣 yeah I did, my original draft review was longer but in the end I have to cut out a lot so I can post the review LOL
When it comes to changes I don't mind if it's for the better, but if it's not and they changed something I love into something I don't this is when it annoys me..
After watching Journey of Chong Zi it kinda magnified how I feel and wish Song of the Moon was a more faithful adaptation to my favourite Novel (Fly to the Moon). Actually scrub the faithful part because that's not in its dictionary since it was completely changed in the drama 😭😭
If you like "Wang Yue" in the drama then I'm sure you will enjoy his spinoff novel (Fly to the Moon) where he's the ML , it's just sad that for those who can't read the novel and only watch the drama (SOTM) will never know what his character was really like in the novel.
This is one of the thing I appreciate in Journey of ChongZi is that at least through this drama they can somewhat get and understand his character in this portrayal better because in the novel (Fly to the Moon) he's more of a "Grey" character.
P.S. Censorship always ruin a good story IMO .. I think in dramas there's a set guideline where they adapt shows on the TV there are certain things that needs to be rewritten to fit into censorship guideline... This is why I hate censorship lol
Omg WeTv is so strict... I wanted to download a copy of episode 41 on my end but , it won't even let you screen record it on their end because it's encrypted... So does that mean we can never get a copy of that special episode.... 😭😭😭
Finished the series today and I really liked the actors in this. They kept it engaging but their roles were written…
LYF killing her in her past life, needed to happen for the progress of the story into their second life. At least we saw that he really feel regret afterwards to the point that he discarded the one sword that play a part in killing her as well.
As for Wang Yue, he is related to Fly to the Moon (Novel). Which that novel drama adaptation is Song of the Moon.
Now, please do not take Song of the Moon (God of Moon portrayal) to be the same as Fly to the Moon(Novel), because in his novel spinoff where "Wang Yue" is the ML, his character is not the same as how it was portrayed in the Drama for Song of the Moon.
Simply put, Song of the Moon, is not a faithful adaptation from the original Novel. Character portrayal and Story direction was completely changed in Song of the Moon.
Ok I’m going to be completely honest here even though some people may not like it. So it doesn’t take much…
I will tell you for me, I love this one better than Song of the Moon (that goes to say a lot considering I love Song of the Moon before, as a spinoff from the novel).
I don't know for me, everyone is different. It's just after watching Journey of Congzi, I felt like Novel fans can at least be a little happy in comparison to Song of the Moon because for the latter, it wasn't faithful to the Novel in terms of character portrayal and character direction IN THE DRAMA(Song of the Moon)
This Ending is even better than Song of the Moon for me, I will just cry in the corner because I can't help but comparing the two.
I am only comparing these two dramas because they are Story-building in their respective novel is connected.
I get why Novel Fans to "CongZi" is upset, because I can relate that to how I feel towards Song of the Moon, but Song of the Moon Novel fans had it worse imo(because we didn't even get a little faithful adaptation in the drama at all)
[Not going to ramble on], you can give it a try, without expectations and see if this is for you or not.
FINALLY FINISHED WITH MY REVIEW! I need to remind myself to NOT do long reviews!! When it was never intended to begin with but when I let my mind do the thinking and my hands do the typing, I just end up rambling on and on.
The whole character limit was annoying how I have to cut some of what I wanted to say in my review out (oh well, at least it's done)!
He actually got his own spinoff 'Fly to the Moon' Novel where he is the ML
Song of the Moon Drama, where it shows Luo Ge, Lu Li, Yue(God of Moon) is the same person, but it is very different to the Novel (Fly to the Moon). In the Novel (Fly to the Moon), Yue (God of Moon), NEVER die, he's the main protagonist in that story, where he is paired of with FL (Liu Shao).
This "Wang Yue" is the same character as "Yue" (in his spinoff novel that takes place a few generations after "Cong Zi") where he is the ML.
Simply put, don't take Song of the Moon to be an accurate adaptation to the Novel "Fly to the Moon", because the drama completely changed the story direction and character portrayal
I still think this drama did better than Song of the Moon adaptation from the novel Fly to the Moon..It was such…
I didn't read the novel Fly to the Moon before I watched the drama. It's only half way through the drama that I wanted to check out the novel (Fly to the Moon) and then I realized how the drama adaptation completely changed from the novel, characters and story direction was changed, so when people were asking what happened in the novel , how can we tell them when the story direction was changed?
So this is why when looking at it being a Novel Fan perspective, I am really disappointed how the script writers completely deviated from the Novel in SOTM...
In the drama he didn't have much of a significant role but the attention was given to the 2nd pairing (Luo Ning and A Fu) instead 😑😑
I don't know why the script writers and the production team have to changed it which deviates from the novel but it's sad that those who never read the novel (Fly to the Moon ) will never understand that Yue(God of Moon ) is MORE than what the production team portrayed him to he in Song of the Moon!
They probably DO have a problem with depicting ML as Grey characters or something...
So this is why for me, as much as I get people disappointment in Journey of Cong Zi drama, it at least did not completely deviate from the novel the way Song of the Moon did...
So at this comparison I like Journey of Cong Zi better.
It is a disrespect to the original source material from the Novel though it Wang Yue (God of Moon ) is the author Shu Ke favourite character..
The most painful thing about watching this shipwreck is imagining the potential it could have lived up to. If…
I still think this drama did better than Song of the Moon adaptation from the novel Fly to the Moon..
It was such a disaster for me being a novel fan how much they completely diverted from the novel..
Sad to be saying that because I do love SOTM drama for the positive scenes I like but still felt massively cheated with how unfaithful it is the original source material.
Looking at the comparison between the two drama adaptation, I still think this one was better.
But I get why you are upset and your criticism to this drama in your review though (have read your review in here).
I am blaming censorship and some of the lazy writing where I think it could be handled better but just didn't in the end.
In terms of ending where the main pairing is concerned I love Journey of Congzi ending better (episode 41)
I am still glad we get this version of "Wang Yue" in this drama at least.
I do love the casts though they all did an amazing job in their roles imo.
