It is evident (in your face evident lol) that Bai Jue remembers his time as Qing Mu, but he can't be honest with Hou Chi because he didn't want her to involve in the danger, but it is also hurting him to hurt her, that is why he's been using indirect methods/ways to minimise the pain for her, but you will see later.

From my understanding, Bo Xuan is Bai Jue behind a mask. He uses another identity as "Bo Xuan" so he can take care of Hou Chi before she's grown up. He is also hiding the truth that he's alive from the Three Realms, that's why he changed his identity and hide behind a mask, so he can ensure no one can interfere with his plans. No one knows he's alive/he's Bai Jue, aside from Gu Jun, since he's the only one who knows his plan.
While Bai Jue have meticulously planned all this, but nothing went according to his initial plan when Hou Chi and Qing Mu got together. It was 'Destiny' changing it, to make it ended up the way it is now, but this whole 'destiny' thing is more leading to their happy ending in the long run.
Originally, Bai Jue just want to sacrifice himself silently, but with the whole Hou Chi and Qing Mu getting together, and then Wu Huan's intention to kill Qing Mu, which escalated the process of Bai Jue's awakening, he had no choice but to wake up/combined with Qing Mu sooner, because Wu Huan was plotting to kill Qing Mu. Even after his awakening, he already said that he does not have his full powers, but only 40% of his powers. So the whole plan of his, and destiny changing it have complicated things for him to have him do some of the things now i.e. being cold to Hou Chi/Shang Gu (which was never in his intention to start with, because Bai Jue never wants to be cold to her that way, this was revealed in the later episodes, but because of Hou Chi and Qing Mu getting together, he have no choice but to be cold to her. As Bo Xuan, he have also told Gu Jun, which Gu Jun told Hou Chi to not leave Qingchi Palace, because if she didn't then, she wouldn't have met Qing Mu, if she didn't then she would have been safely protected inside her home, but ofcourse that didn't play out the way both Gu Jun and Bai Jue wanted)
It gets explained in the future episodes. But to spoil it for you, after Bai Jue's awakening at the end of ep 38. He have complete memories of Qing Mu and ofcourse Bo Xuan, since he was Bo Xuan back then. He only acts like he doesn't remember, lied that he didn't remember, because he didn't want Hou Chi to know what he was planning to do on his end, to keep her away from the danger and being hurt in the long run. But all this will be explained in the future episodes.

On my rewatch it isn't as bad as my first watch, I am really trying to find peace with this lol. Like I keep telling myself, they are happy and in each other's arm. I keep rewinding to that part where they are in each others embrace expressing their happiness, and try to make peace with it, oh it's definitely better than my first watch, but I am still bitter, because that is the shortest reconciliation ever! It's worst because I know they can give us more, but they didn't T^T
You know, that part about Xu Kai where his acting is concerned is so great because, to him, he can really act with these micro expressions to portray his emotions. And it isn't simply just reading it from the script, but he puts his heart/feelings into acting those scenes out with emotions. The scene between Yuan Qi and Bai Jue in ep 48 is really powerful to me, because he really expresses his love for Yuan Qi, like a loving father, and his eyes, his eyes!!! Every time he feels like crying, and his eyes is watery, and when he actually did cried, it makes me want to cry with him!!! (T^T) Well, I did anyway (T^T)

Oh my god, this hurts. If only she knew, well, she knew in the end, anyway. I still cherish the time they have in the God Realm before all the tragedies happen. If the tragedy never occur, then Bai Jue and Shang Gu will have had their own version of Qing Mu and Hou Chi much sooner, because Bai Jue already showed me he can be sweet to her and show that kind of sweet love to her. But if the tragedy never occur, then there won't be a touching story to tell.

The attraction started in ep 2 when Bai Jue helped her open her god vessels, and then it just became a gradual process. Shang Gu definitely is more upfront with her feelings when compared to Bai Jue, where he keeps his feelings/love for her deep inside. I see that Bai Jue already have feelings/love for her, when he shows me his jealousy when Tian Qi wants to get Shang Gu's attention etc etc. And the part, when Shang Gu is upsets, which upsets him/bothers him, it's definitely a sign that we take that he already loved her then.
From the remaining 3:22 minutes is when we see signs of Bai Jue coming back with his fire essence gathering into one placeā¦. That took 1 minutes and 32 seconds for it to happen.
From the remaining 1:50 minutes, the shape(spirit) of Bai Jue was formed. So now, we only have 1:50minutes remaining for their interactionsā¦
Remaining 1:50 to 1:43 (7 seconds), finally showed a solid Bai Jue standing in front of Shang Guā¦.
From the remaining 1:43 to remaining 1:00 minute, they had that interaction, where Shang Gu asked him if heās Qing Mu or if heās Bo Xuan, and then Bai Jue replied to her, saying: āShang Gu, I am Bai Jueā, so interacting (minus them hugging/in each otherās arms) started from the remaining 1:43 to 1:00, so 43 seconds for that.
And starting from the remaining 1:00 is when she ran up to him, and are in each otherās arms, so from the remaining 1:00 to 37 seconds before the camera starts to zoom out, we get to see 37 seconds of them in each other's embrace. BUT the whole 'get to see' part, it's only 33 seconds because 4 seconds was given to Tian Qi and Zhi Yang looking at each other, expressing happiness Bai Jue has returned.
If we are talking about the full close up shot between us getting to see them hugging is only 33 seconds(not 37 seconds, because 4 seconds was given to Tian Qi and Zhi Yang as said), this was before the camera zooms out. When the camera began to zoom out, it starts from the remaining 33 seconds up to the remaining 8 seconds, so literally the zoom out effect is 25 seconds...
So, for close up angle, the hug didnāt even last a full 1 minute, my god!!
Good for those who loves/appreciate this ending, but honestly, considering, Bai Jue and Shang Gu have waited 60,000+ years just to get their happy ending, and Shang Gu waited 503 years for Bai Jue to return to her, and us, going through an emotional journey along with the characters, this kind of ending, while it's a happy ending, and thank god they got a hug, although that was less than 1 minute for what we want to see.... I still say that I feel robbed, and if they can give us an extended happy ending in TMOPB, ELOD and AOL.... Why can't we get one for Bai Jue and Shang Gu?! They (and we) deserves a more fulfilling ending T__T
P.S: I don't expect those who appreciates this ending to understand. But this is something I want to express in terms of disappointment. I still love ALP, and will rewatch it, but this kind of ending will never fill my void/emptiness that I am feeling. Well, good thing I get to see them smiling at each other, in each others embrace, this is at least better than what the novel ending has to offer...

It's the same as the Drama Ending Bai Jue came back, Shang Gu saw him again, and when Shang Gu asked him whether he's Qing Mu or Bo Xuan, Bai Jue replied: "Shang Gu, I am Bai Jue". Except unlike the drama, where Bai Jue smiled when he said that, and in the drama, they get a hug where she ran up to him and they hugged in each other's arms, in the novel, they don't have that, it just ended with words/texts saying how happy this moment is to her, because Bai Jue is back. In this comparison, drama is better, because at least they get a hug, but still I will always say (unless they release a bonus clip to show an extended scene for Bai Jue and Shang Gu and their happy blissful times together), I am still somewhat unsatisfied with the drama ending. That hug was less than 2 minutes (sad really)
