Title Ancient Love Poetry Spoiler
I can tell you that the drama ending is better than the novel ending, because at least they get to hug and be…
Omg, I am so glad I am not the only one who felt that way about the FL in FIYS lol. Because honestly, romance side of things, Xu Kai really makes it up for me, but the FL, her facial expression, and the way she portray the character, makes it feels like she's not really 'in love' with Lu Si Cheng (Xu Kai's character). I do feel her awkwardness, that's why for me, as much as I enjoyed FIYS, I am not 'in love' with the pairing, because it lacks the chemistry for me. I am not blaming Xu Kai here, he showed me his love, and the way he expresses it, but it's mainly on the FL ability to act these emotions out. I mean, if it's not because I know they are a couple, and the story said they are a couple, and them doing couple things, like kissing etc, I can literally just take the way she sees him as a friend. I feel like I will be offending many fans in here who loves that pair, I personally don't hate the pair, I did like it, thanks to how Xu Kai expresses his love for her, but I don't love it, because the FL lacks these emotions to show me like she's really in love with Lu Si Cheng you know. It's like between the pair, Xu Kai is what saved this pairing for me. Imagine having a Male actor who can't portray it, then this would have been the most awkward pairing ever.

That part when Hou Chi/Shang Gu stabbed him, will forever hurt me too T^T but yeah, that scene was really powerful. And Xu Kai is really good at expressing it with his eyes, it's not the first time, when you watched the later episodes, especially in Ep 48, when he spends time with Yuan Qi, all those scenes, it made me teary, and it was so touching too.

It's okay, some fans may really love a certain drama, some may not. Just like I know many loves Ashes of Love in here, personally for me I don't. And wish people would stop comparing Ancient Love Poetry to Ashes of Love, because in my eyes, Ancient Love Poetry is heaps better than Ashes of Love IMO, but this is how I see it.

I am also hoping SAHPH will be good, since it's a drama I am looking forward to watching when it's out. Hope we will have news on when it will air (soon).

Well, that does sound like a lot of potential. The possibility is there if this drama is popular enough.

Yes, if TMOPB can have a sequel/spinoff for ELOD featuring Di Jun and Feng Jiu, then Tian Qi and Yuemi deserves it too.

Only this time, if the drama decides to do the sequel, I honestly hope they will bring back the same casts, because I love the original casts for these characters. I will be here to watch it if that's the case of having the same casts. I was disappointed that Mark Chao couldn't make his appearance as Ye Hua in ELOD, despite in the novel to Pillow Book he was in it for a few scenes...

I am still sad about the ending for ALP because I reckon Bai Jue and Shang Gu deserves a more fulfilling ending than what we were given, TMOPB and ELOD got a more fulfilling ending than ALP (on the drama side of things), so that was sad in comparison. I am honestly trying to make peace with ALP ending, i.e. At least they got a hug and are in each other's embrace, that's definitely better than what the novel ending has to offer.

i am not going to lie, the ending was a little too underwhelming for me.

I don't know... I think I love Hei Jue more than Bai Jue. But Qing Mu so cute. I can't believe they all played…
I love them all! I see them all the same i.e. Bai Jue

Oh, if Yuan Qi comes back, that would be nice, but I have not read the Tian Qi and Yue Mi's book on my end so don't know of the scene you spoke of.

If they do a sequel to this drama, with the same cast, that would be nice because we can see the story follow up from Tian Qi side of things (ofcourse in this sequel, we can also get to see some Bai Jue and Shang Gu sweet moments too). Tian Qi deserves his happiness and a sequel, and definitely will be worth watching as a sequel, and interesting to see Tian Qi chasing Yue Mi this time. Tian Qi with his memories of her, but Yue Mi doesn't (but will later), talk about potential there!

I jumped into that page in MDL in here, and saw that yeah, he is the MC and watched the trailer to see what it's like. I can tell it's totally different to ALP haha. But the FL, doesn't look Chinese, she looks white to me, or is it just me? lol.

Is it a happy ending?

I didn't read the entirety of the book. Got spoiled in the comment section, and then read the last chapter, to answer your question, Yuan Qi sacrificed himself, it's not a happy ending, not where Yuan Qi is concerned, so I don't recommend it. Pretend it doesn't exist.... Yuan Qi is alive, happy and have his happy bliss with his parents (Bai Jue and Shang Gu).

Xu Kai is not the main character in that one right? So no, I have not seen it on my end. What's his character like? You can spoil the details for me here XD

It's not that I don't like the actress but idk it looks like she doesn't fit the character ? Like her aura is…
You're not the only one XDD I felt the same way too when I started, and it did take me a while to get into it, but later her acting convinced me, where my opinion of hers changed for the better, and I even felt that in the end, she was made for this character. I even love her chemistry with Xu Kai as well. And then when I got further into the story, into their world, when I re-watch the drama again from episode 1, I came to really love/appreciate the beginning developments between the characters, it makes me pick up some of these details which is endearing to see that I have might have missed on my first watch. This is why rewatching a drama from the beginning again, once you got into the story is a good thing, because you can appreciate it to a whole new level

His First/Eldest Uncle is True God Zhiyang. Yuanqi calls him this in E49. He wouldn’t call Bai Jue his Second…
You can always make a thread in here, it's easy trackable that way. I know what you mean about the link will be buried in this page, since I felt the same way, that's why I did a thread in Bai Jue's perspectives since it's easier to track back to on my end 😂

That's why I feel it cute when he call Tianqi as 三伯 but ahh the translation didn't help. I'm relieved I understand…
We can let our imagination do it's work. Sorry, I didn't know you have not watch the final episode yet. Tian Qi in the end, did find all those wines that Yuemi kept for him, but he said he will not drink wine anymore, because he wants to quit drinking on his end (it's actually sad looking from his side of things), maybe there will be a sequel featuring Tian Qi and Yuemi's relationship and she have return/reborn or something.

Since some characters, who you thought it is dead did come back in the end or implied they are back (but just left off-screen/like an open ending).

Yes, Yes, Xu Kai definitely is a great actor, the first drama I watched him in was this one (Ancient Love Poetry), but while it was airing, and I was tired of waiting for the episodes to air, I found that he acted in 'The Legends' also, so I went to watch that one at the same time. While I also love him in the Legends, but I love him as Bai Jue even more. Between the two story, Ancient Love Poetry is better (for me personally), although I agree that he and Bai Lu does have great chemistry, and I am also among the fans who hope they have another drama together as a couple. Arsenal Military, I know about, but didn't get into watching it because I am not fond of the setting being about military, and since I was spoiled there's no kiss scenes, I will pass.

FIYS, I have watched too, and I love his character in that one, Xu Kai really have a talented way in expressing his love, sadness, pain through his micro expressions, especially his eyes! Honestly, when I see that his eyes is watery and is holding back the tears, I feel like crying, and when he cried, I cried too T^T

"She and her perfect husband" is definitely a drama I am looking forward to on my end, I know the actress Yang Mi. I won't say I am a fan of her, but I do like her in TMOPB, so I am interesting to see, how she plays her character in this modern drama. Ofcourse, I am watching this drama for Xu Kai there. Saw the trailer, looks good.

I also hope Xu Kai will film more Xianxia genres as MC, since I will also be watching it when those time comes ^^

That will be so nice to see Tian Qi have children and his children calling Bai Jue, Uncle two ^^ [Too bad Yuemi didn't come back in the end, since Tian Qi deserves his happiness too]

This is why is is a blessing to understand the language and what they're saying so you don't need to rely on the English subs being lost in translation. I notice, that some of the translated subs is not word for word as per what's written in Chinese, but as long as it's not completely out of context then I will just leave it lol. That being said, I rather they stayed as close to what's been said as possible though.

Oh nice, maybe you can share the link to fans in her who can refer to those subs instead hahaha

Someone shared the link to a sequel to Yuan Qi's adventures, in Chinese and well, I got spoiled by reading the comments and the final chapter since that friend of mines, despite she shared the link, she didn't recommend it and after reading the final chapter, I agree. It was just wtf to me, so I wouldn't recommend it in terms of novel side of things....

But in terms of a drama sequel or a bonus episode to wrap things up, I would watch it, because some changes made in the drama and additional scenes (when compared to the novel), makes the drama better to me.

As for Tian Qi and Yuemi, I saw someone shared a link, but I have not checked it on my end.

If they make a drama sequel, I hope they will have the same casts... as for novel side of things, I will pass, since I didn't like what I read from the Yuan Qi one(I won't spoil it, best you dont know so we can all imagine a happy family bliss for Bai Jue, Shang Gu and Yuan Qi)..

P.S. thanks also for checking out my thread. Bai Jue really have suffered so much to be misunderstood, I can never hate Bai Jue, he will always have my love and respect!

Xu Kai's acting sure is great! I will definitely check out his future works since he's added into one of my favourite actors list.

Same here! And you are not alone! Some of us felt the same way! That ending left me unsatisfied and Bai Jue and Shang Gu deserves an extended bliss and happiness after all they've been through :( I even made a comment in here yesterday time stamping the scenes of their ending in the drama, showing how disappointed I was :(

I want like one more episode to wrap up their story in a fulfilling note, because both Bai Jue and Shang Gu deserves it and we as audience deserves it :(
