I know how you feel sad about JY and XY backstory because trust me, I feel the same too, but for me, I accepted that their past was inevitable. What I mean is, if that didn't happen in their past life, then there wouldn't be the FY and BS that we come to love in this story.
Also, it is not all lost because for FY he still carry personality traits of Jing Yuan in him. E.g. the woman they come to love will be irreplaceable to them. Jing Yuan is like this towards Xing Yue, Fan Yue is like this towards Bai Shuo. And when Jing Yuan returned 60,000 years later in FY body, the first words he said was "those who hurt her, and want to hurt her will all die", and this is the same for FY as well, since do you remember how Fan Yue go to personally kill those flowers that hurt Bai Shuo during the Bodhi Village arc. He killed those flowers because they attacked Bai Shuo earlier. So Fan Yue still carry traits of Jing Yuan personality in him, so the core character(and his belief/feelings) didn't change.
In terms of pairing, I feel that their past regrets had deeply rooted into both FY and BS in this lifetime because despite their slight bickering or slight arguments at times, they will communicate properly to avoid any misunderstanding and how they go through it together just makes them a better version of their past life.
And I also have a feeling why BS is so determined to live her life, walk her path the way she wants to and doesn't like it when others decide for her is rooted deep down how she felt in her past(subconsciously) because in her past life, she didn't have the freedom to live the life she wants on her end and be happy. So this is why BS character is the way she is now and why in this life, she just wants to be herself(as Bai Shuo), and live her life according to what she wants by following her heart and feelings truly.
So this is why to me, JY and XY lives on in FY and BS(as their reincarnated self), and like you, I am also glad that FY and BS got their happy ending because they truly deserve this happy ending. In their second life, they can finally be together and live freely.

How I understood this is reincarnation.
When you are reincarnated you will carry your original soul to the next reincarnation cycle and that will be who you are in the next life.
Same soul doesn't mean you need to be the exact same person again as your past life because that is not how reincarnation works.
Bai Shuo is the reincarnation of Xing Yue, same as Fan Yue is for Jing Yuan.
I think the theme of MM is through the process of this reincarnation, despite their past is Jing Yuan and Xing Yue, but for Xing Yue when she died, that part of her is no longer in this world. Since her "soul" has entered a reincarnation and become Bai Shuo in her next life.
When Bai Shuo said she is not Xing Yue, she did not mean that she's not her reincarnated self, but she wants others to respect that Xing Yue is the past life and it shouldn't let that dictate herself in this current life as Bai Shuo.
She doesn't want to be anyone else, but she just wants to be herself(Bai Shuo).

We feel the same for ARP here. I feel the same on my end. I'm also glad ARP got this role and he got to show his abilities in bringing the character FY/JY to life. It made me fell in love with him too.
As for BL, that is how I feel about her role as well. This is why I prefer to watch modern dramas since it tends to be better and less toxic. At least I liked her in Love is Sweet and Only for love
I don't mind angst, but I don't like seeing a pairing hurting each other, this is why her character LSS and TTEOTM was a big red flag for me when I watched it(only watched to the end for TTJ but then he got given that ending 💔)
When it comes to my favourite onscreen couple that I ship, I feel the same, this is why I cannot watch Neo Hou and Zhou Ye pair away with someone else or Ding Yuxi pairing with someone other than Yang Chao Yue(or vice versa) since I love them as my fav onscreen couple.
I feel like I am feeling that way for ARP and BL too since I want to see them collaborate again as a CP in a modern drama with lots of sweet and passionate scenes ❤️

Yeah the dubbing in his character is good too. I also like it.
