I didn't like her character in Sparrow, but thought it was the writing.
She has never been the greatest actress around. It will be interesting to see if she has improved or not. That is a mighty role; she is trying to play, in here.
Interesting. Very interesting first episode. Sir Ice Cube, aka Bai Jue, aka XuXu is liquid nitrogen cold… So cold that he burns. Last time that I have seen him that serious was way back in Story of Yanxi Palace. I am loving it, here!
As for the god of chaos or should I say… The god of small, teeny-tiny mayhems… She is the definition of arrogance and entitlement. Let see how this itty-bitty actress has improved, since Sparrow.
So far the lead female is getting on my nerves!!!!
You are not alone, here. Liang Jie’s acting is really really really bad in this drama. By any means, she is not the greatest actress around but I have never seen her that bad before. What the heck! Which is sad because this Xie Xiao Man’s character is my type of FL… Strong and doesn’t take crap from anyone. My other issue is that the writer keeps on making her sporadically dumb, from time to time.
Just started this and… So far, so good. I love the color palettes, with all the pastel’s nuances. I love Joseph Zeng’s wardrobes… I really appreciate that they used the right lengths for his height. Sometimes, they make these historical wardrobes too short and I get distracted by the constant sight of their shoes. Joseph Zeng is winning me over, more and more, with all of the improvements that he has been showing in his craft. So, I definitely have a soft spot for him; with his huge, black-puppy eyes...
Fyi: If I am not mistaking, this is the same set used for Dance of the Sky Empire with XuXu (Xu Kai).
I wouldn't mind if it is even longer. I agree that most of the time they just play around, but it is still funny…
These are exactly the only two things that I enjoyed from that drama… The cast and the funny bits between the ML and the FL. Ok! And the surprisingly deep and husky voice from Gala Zhang.
Good cast but the writer behind this drama is seriously lacking imagination. It is a waste of a good cast. 32 episodes… That is exhaustingly long for this infantile sort of script. The most, 20 to 24 episodes would have been more than enough.
I get specially attached to an actor or to an actress when they win me over; despite of not being a fan from the start. Truthfully, I dropped The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty because of Darren Chen. Then I watched No Boundary/The Storm of the World and I started to think… Maybe I was wrong about him. Which brought me to My Unicorn Girl; not that it was a good drama or anything but the man did wonders in that drama… He literally made miracles in the scenes that were overly and utterly corny, cheesy and cliché… Indeed, DC completely stole the show. Yup! He won me over.
I can honestly relate to your review! I mostly watched it for Darren, who pretty much stole the show, despite…

Aside from all of the propagandas and all of the military slogans…This entire production was much better than…
Let me reconfirm on how much I love this military drama. Everything in it… From A to Z. The Glory of Youth has to be one of the most underrated Chinese military drama, released in 2021. Although, I am the black-sheep in my family who did not go into the military; I guess it is hard to remove that military blood, once one is born in it.
Did I hear it right? Our rigid Wanning and our overzealous Moran are being portrayed as father and son… That is simply ridiculous LOL.
If this is not an unfounded and a grossly over-exaggerated rumor, they might as well couple Moran and Shi Mei in a heterosexual relationship. This is simply absurd.
I really like the ML's voice and I like his laugh even more.
Did Zhang Yao dub his own voice or did he use a voice actor for the voice dubbing? I watched him in Love in Between and his voice-over was definitely different. I had to do a double-take in his first scenes because I am not used with this very deep voice.
you should watch prodigy healer the main leads are li hong yi and zhao lusi/rosy
You are welcome. Leo is already showing some utterly fantastic skills at acting… Rosy seems to be blooming right now, with her craft… Both of them together and same age group… I can not wait to watch that.
It was a nice drama. However, I wanted it to be more than nice. Since, the storyline was portraying the shady sides of the early founding NIS and subsequently its dark progressions among the other governmental agencies… I wanted the drama to be explosive. Unfortunately for me, it did not reach that level. The villains’ retributions just fell short.
*As always, Ji Jin Hee did a great portrayal. He is terrific at playing with whatever role they drop on his lap. As for Yeon Woo Jin, one of the most underrated Korean actor with phenomenal acting skills in the film industry… But somehow lacking major cinematographic projects. And as usual, Yeon Woo Jin always leaves us with the feeling of wanting to see more scenes from him.

Their screen performances and general acting were ok. But the script and the directing… Those were some utterly hot messes.
Rosy showed some substantial acting improvements in The Long Ballad. Truthfully, I have never taken her seriously before that. Now, I can not wait to watch her with Leo Wu in their upcoming Wuxia drama.
Darren Chen was without any doubt… The saving grace of this drama. He managed to transform the scenes that were utterly corny, cheesy and cliché into something charming, adorable and endearing. I give DC major props for that!
Corny as hell but still watchable. Darren Chen was simply a bundle of cuteness in this drama. DC was without any doubt… The saving grace of this drama. *Ever since, I watched Storm of the World/No Boundary… I am getting more and more sold on his acting skills. Interesting enough, I had a hard time watching him in The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty. Which, I eventually dropped.
It will be interesting to see if she has improved or not.

Too many from our XuXu, this season. My heart can’t possibly take it.
This better be freaking better than Court Lady!

It is always so nerve-racking to venture outside of our comfort zones…
However, it is also so rewarding.
