Some of you may not like it but imma be real, I have many gripes with Chinese dramas and the new arc already introduced…
Enough with this - I cant marry her, I dont love her. This is not a kid's show or is it? Maybe it is more juvenile at times, its true, but come ooon. Its hard watching a grown man say something like this in a drama thats closer to a historical fantasy of sorts than a fairytale. But maybe Im wrong, maybe it is closer to the typical xianxia fairytale in this new arc. I mean, marrying for love is such a modern concept and its cute and dandy having it here but like..no, this is cliche for the genre and its boring. Give me a realistic arranged marriage, cant believe Im saying it - but just for once let grown people from the (imagined) time period just do what is to be done, uuugh. I get it mostly young girls are watching and they want the romance and the idealism every woman desires but sometimes...it takes away from realism, no matter that its fantasy.
ALSO, I was praaayyyyiiing the show writers would break the cliche of the man not going to their first night because "i CaNt, I dOnT lOoooVvEe HeRrrr!!" pity fest, but they didnt... unfortunately. Excuse meeeeeeeeeeee, but what man says no to sex with his new beautiful wife and is like "I prefer virginity". Its not in men's nature ,however idealistic we want to be - first night is not about love(in historical type of dramas). I get it, Chinese xianxia but this series is supposed to be breaking cliches. Its just not logical. Its not like I wanted so much for a sex scene, not that I dont lol, but it felt....juvenile, unrealistic, not on par with what weve seen untill now. At least its not TTJ and SuSu'story so from that point of view, maybe its okay to be more boring and cliche but for me personally - its not ok, I am bored from years of watching same plot lines, I have trauma from stuck up same characters and same decisions in this genre and I can't accept it here, too. These were little details that are not that important for story but they make for a boring experience altogether. I dont know if I will like this arc - and we have the same old delusional woman that tries to steal the guy, as if we havent seen that before .
At least its visually pretty but....I miss TTJ and YXW already
Some of you may not like it but imma be real, I have many gripes with Chinese dramas and the new arc already introduced some of them, I cant help but be annoyed
If you are talking abt anti hero ML then yes....but this one is on high doze steroid.....lolBut GMP authors loves…
Yes and also the fact the he too killed her family but the heroine here already knows it and I suspect tragedies befalling them
Also I read here, without wanting, that she would be his concubine or wife and will suffer from from him a great deal while he treats YBC well - like in GMP, sort of But this is fantasy so there would be a lot more twists and turns and possible outcomes that were impossible in a historical drama so let's see how it all turns up ^^
Is there anyone who is obsessed with the dancing scene in ep 8 as much as me??Like it's so beautiful and seductive!TTJ…
Bai Lu is a goddess <33 Also, how am I supposed to concentrate on plot when their chemistry is so good -every second they look like they just wanna jump each other and move on to the bed scenes already lol I dont think I ve ever watched another set of actors being like that. Im suspecting real life undisclosed desires 😌
How can two people have such good chemistry????? I watched them before in LIS and it was again sizzling and here, too , like...why they so good together?!?! And this plot gives them so much freedom
Also, ML really hurt but he also started getting out of hand lol I see little hope for him, he has deep psychological issues already. I cant support some of the things he thinks and does but story-wise its interesting. Interest in FL's development, too, she handles him quite well and stands her ground and principles - dont know if theyll "change" for each other (well see) but them i teracting together is crazy enough 😀 FL is not completely "normal" too, love her mischievousness, I think she doesnt quite know what shes doing - girls is trying though haha And oohh that dance scene was fire
yeah didn't the mother literally almost died coz of cancer? Or some other serious sickness after the dad left?…
100% agree! The house is an excuse for these hypocrites to play their guilt-tripping games that make them feel useful in the alwaful world they"ve created for themselves . And pretty sure by their behaviour - these are problems they hade way BEFORE the house thing and the father leaving. They were raised like that by parents that dont know how to express affection and only know how to judge both others and tbeir own children.
Your point for the father leaving the house to them out of guilt is totally valid! And also - how are they supposed to live there together, what- for all their lives??? These people??? Adult people together there?! It does not sit well with me.
Poor Dongjin, he was also raised in an environment that didnt give him the strength to stand up for himself and now hes going to take it all on his back while Nothing is his fault!!! And when the mom said to WooJoo - you can never see him, under no circumstances?!?! Whaaaaaaaaaat????? Ive said it again before - who is SHE in society to care so mich about saving face??? Who is SHE to define the border of right and wrong?!?! Have we heard of these "important" people on the news?!?! Or are they living in their own little delusional world where they believe their every move is essential to everybody around while in truth NO ONE CARES. Her daughter could date the son of a bigger criminal, so WHAT?!? Is Korean society's verdict on such relationships the end all be all? Like literally every country in the world holds their "values" and traditional way of thinking like its all there is, all they got. In such a big world - who cares? Who needs egocentric dysfunctional sense of "morality"? Life is for the individuals, for the young and daring - that old judgemental and narcissistic hag needs to STFU. Her sins to her kids(eapeciallt WooJoo) are enough already
There is no world in which Woojoo's family has the right to be like this to her
Hoping she fights for her happiness and absolute freedom from baseless and useless selfish judgement. No matter from whom its from, especially if from her absent (mostly emotionally) mother . People need their sense of self more than a particular house. And yet I know how difficult it would be for Woojoo(although she already is putting a fight by stating her feelings and standing up for her person!) not because of the whole house narrative but because of the way she was raised, be ause her familly instilled in her massive deep feeling of guilt from her childhood days till this day.(and with the guilt - loneliness) Same for Dongjin. They deserve everything. Without regrets. And his crazy "mom" is in big trouble, finally
I find this absolutely engrossing, how children's lives are affected by their parents actions. The siblings mother…
Agree 100% and think it all comes from lack of proper loving parenting from mother! Just yesterday I expressed similar stance but was called unreasonable for finding faults in the mother of the siblings and her unjustified rage and guilt-tripping(guess personal calling out like that when someone expresses opinions is ok on MyDramalist?)
Think theres something cultural but also, or even more so, particular family dynamics. In their soruation They're all not behaving really healthy(actually, with the exception of the brother who copes better with life and is in his right mind) and have difficulties communicating or finding ways to deal with their emotions. And after last two eps Im sure why - not only the missing father figure but especially because of the way their mother raised them, without direct and enough affection, with fear and guilt-tripping(for me its evident even by looking at her, she's screaming at them with her eyes and I cant find any excuses). They're copying her behaviour - she is silent and not expressive and they're the same or find unhealthy ways to fill what is missing(in the case of Hye Sung - she seeks from relationships what she didnt have as a little kid - probably not enough love).
Its exactly like in MLN where the siblings had similar difficulties because of their father and his emotionless and ignoring parenting style(basically, missing parenting). He was the one setting the tone in the family, here is the mom. For MLN there was even a psychological analysis of the father-kids u nhealthy dynamic by a professional. Would be interesting to hear from her an analysis of this series
Its ok for her to feel what's shes feeling but Im definitely siding with the siblings - their mother is thinking practically but she's not showing understanding and quite honestly is unfair after all the time she was not with then. They all tremble before speaking with her, I dont find it normal but Ive seen it in other Kdramas too. No wonder they hid things from her, given how she is
I cant comprehend why is she so angry and cold towards them, specially WooJoo. Ok, they didnt tell her? Understand…

I am SUPER disappointed with Sim Hye Seong's story line or her character progress........Initially i thought,…
You know, I think I agree. I was really hyped that she and Joon would be together and still want it but for now her progress is not enough for it to happen naturally. She needs to love and respect herself otherwise she will never be able to love someone else and be loved and respected in return. Her relationship with the younger guy should be a learning lesson for her, at least I hope it would be...
I cant comprehend why is she so angry and cold towards them, specially WooJoo. Ok, they didnt tell her? Understand…
I find her expression of what shes feeling quite out of place in some situations, especially when she found out from the aunt about WooJoo going to the house to Deal with that woman, then going to the police and meeting her son. She was so taken aback, her own son had to hold her hand in the bus. I know she probably was being sorry that her daughter had to do it by herself and suffer humiliation but she became even more cold and upset over this. I cant take it for normal. She could have said words of support(finally) - "Its ok, you tried to fight, I also know what happened is wrong. I am proud that you also feel deeply for out family! Sorry you had to go through that" Instead, with her silent suffering(as you said it is) shes making it difficult for her children to share things with her and makes them feel guilty. I hate that parenting style and way of communication. It really IS coming from pride. I see it in her kids sometimes, especially WooJoo.
Its ok for her to feel what's shes feeling but Im definitely siding with the siblings here - their mother is thinking practically but she's not showing understanding and quite honestly is unfair after all the time she was not with then. I dont think it was that clearly shown in the drama that she was upset because of them not telling - it really did look like she was blaming them(suspect it was done on purpose). It was easy to notice that her judgemental demeanour was in both the last episodes, not just one evening. In every conversation she had with some of the siblings she didnt express emotional support for her kids and showed a sort of disappointment. Her character hasnt had that many scenes, so maybe she gets to show more sides to her in future eps but also kinda suspect where this is going with her sense of pride . We'll see
I really dont understand the siblings' mother and I think writers overdid her coldness.
I cant comprehend why is she so angry and cold towards them, specially WooJoo. Ok, they didnt tell her? Understand as its important but to stop talking with them? As if she expected for them to fight harder to keep the house. She herself is not a lawyer so from where this high expectations from people?
Also when she got to know about WooJoo going to the police and meeting the son. What was that about? "How dare she not tell me?!? Im soooo disappointed that someone from this distinguished family fell so low to go the police and now I should carry the burden of this embarrassing child for generations to come!" As if that were her thoughts, so absurd! And illogical, unfair and arrogant even. From where does her pride come? Who is she to be so important in society and care so much about saving face? She didnt hug them one time, just the same cold prideful expression . I mean, does she get the right to be so angry and stuck up? Her emotions dont come across or come across so forcefully overdone just for drama in the series - just to have the character who will go against the leads
