I knew that he won't die and that she would be the Empress. everything pointed out to that sort of ending. Death would have been a quick end for him. This arrangement though where its "so close, yet so far"...is truly the sort of miserable ending. They probably get to see each other regularly as he is the Crown Prince's teacher but they can't lead their lives as husband and wife, well in a clandestine manner prolly, but never in broad daylight. Though I wonder whether FJM would do that with HS as the Empress...or he'd be too ethical to do anything of that sort.

It's the pain of seeing his bestie die, and that sense of responsibility is not something he will ever run away from. I think HS knew when she heard that the Emperor had died, that very moment, it dawned upon her that there was no way they can lead their own lives as planned. She was a little startled when FJM told her that they can't go back to the fishing village. And he hinted that someone trusted will have to stayback to rule. She said she would stay on as Madame Hu Zhu but I think she must have also been smart enough to realise that there was more to it than that. FJM was already hinting to her that she would have to take on more ....

Well, if we write our own fan fic, FJM and HS can leave when the CP is in his teens, HS would be in her late 30s and FJM would be in his 40s. There's still a few good years left of their live. Provided the CP doesn't get injured and FJM doesn't have to bear the brunt of it.

Emperor and Ti Lan die. To protect the young crown prince who was born premature and is very weak, FJM binds himself as bai xi to the baby again!

Our HS becomes the Empress and takes care of the crown prince. We don't get to see FJM again, but the little crown prince refers to him as his teacher and says that over the years, his health has gotten better. And that regularly (make that daily) someone is checking in on the teacher's health.

He also asks his mother to visit the teacher today as he is going shortly for his class. And here's the hint, the Crown Prince says "Don't you want to come as you enjoy going to listen to teacher teaching? Though HS is worried that today it will make the teacher tired, the little crown prince insists that the mother go, because the teacher will be happy to see her.

So, we can infer from this that FJM didn't die, he became bai xi to the crown prince and his teacher. But it seems that HS kept her distance, they don't get to live as husband and wife but they are likely to have met/stayed in touch as he teaches the crown prince regularly. Though they are in close proximity with each other, they are apart and she will never have his children.

So, that folks is a wrap!

Note: My only consolation is that she can seek his council when she needs it, and though they can't live as husband and wife, both are comforted to know that they are really not that far apart, and can look out for each other. And she has a valid excuse to see him, when she wants to.

Ikr, strange that the sister doesn't watch dramas. Even stranger, WC revealed his mother's age, his sister's age and his brother's age. He even told the whole world when the sis's birthday is on. I was thinking, erh... is that a good idea, revealing how old ur sister is? You know how sensitive women are...unless she's really cool about it. I know he was trying to make a point that his family maintain their youthfulness... he's quite sweet in that sense to wanna brag about it.

I can't wait for that scene too - I was rather anxious about what that scene would mean, not that anything else can't happen after that, it jolly well might. But now that tencent has revealed those photos and phrased it that way, I feel way much better.

lol, even Willam Chen's sister who has not watched his dramas is watching, because she says YM is so pretty. And his mum is watching too!

I was thinking to myself in amusement, if it were the Emperor, this is what he would have said "You blockhead, you've just told a girl how much she means to you and at the slightest rejection, you back down so quickly. How come you can win battles and outwit politicians, but you can't even sweet-talk a girl!"

On a different note, I would have given almost everything to overhear the conversation between the Emperor and HS before FJM came in. (Did they cut that scene too because of lack of time??)

that thought did occur to me too, but as some of you are saying, then HS explained that they are going to start a life together, away from it all. So, we'll only know tonight if that's true. If it is, FJM is quite the thing to get it spot on in so few attempts. LOL

Agree, there's one particularly sweet and candid conversation they had. Someone in this forum nicknamed them the comatose couple, meaning to say, they are only upfront with each other when one or the other is unconscious or with eyes closed, but awake. LOL.

I would say it's one of the better ones this year, the visuals, the budget that has been put into it, and the story line is quite palatable. Needless to say, any drama will receive its fair share of criticism, you can't please everybody. But with the ratings, you can get a feel that mainstream audiences subscribe to it. You can come in and check to see if it's a HE after tonight, 8.10 pm (give us about 10 mins to size things up, LOL).

WC says he would wanna act with YM in a modern drama. Given how popular this drama has been, what do you think are the chances that someone will capitalise on this and get them two together for a modern drama? The only think I can imagine them in both is something to do with Police work. LOL, given how they are comfy with action scenes.

I was also wondering, is it possible they filmed several alternates... and they would show the one that they think would really boost the ratings and make it into a bigger cash cow (to sell to the international market) when they get a feel of the ratings.
