don't you think you are a bit too picky? I mean you don't have to love them at the same level but you do can set a standard. try focusing more on the positive elements of the shows, lower your expectations a bit and you'll soon come back to liking them I'm sure :)

I'm sorta beginner on the Cdrama road but if you liked ShenYue in Meteor Garden, I can recommend A love so beautiful with her, I liked that story better . There are some amazing Wuxia things out there like The Untamed but my personal favorite is Ever Night. There are plenty more, Mel and other sites also recommend the bests of them.
omg thankssssssss somebody already said it out loud why that Kento drama is a garbage. I hated the hype around just bc Kento is hot (not for me...), but all in all, leads: no chemistry, plot: exists?!, side characters: just whyyyy... B-O-R-I-N-G.
Quite interesting your pov in this regard bc I prefered JP version BECAUSE of the settings and actors, faces... to me this is the perfect adaptation, K one is a joke in many aspects (I read the manga and saw the anime too). I still feel the pain what K version caused me and I reaaallly feel sorry for the actorI Minho whom I since then found out to be a great actor (in many other more suitable dramas he performs very good imo). K version is the perfect example where there are greater potential in the actors but the directing is so horrible that it ruins everything, even good acting can't save it. The JP one is older than the K one, shouldn't forget that, bc that means that sometimes in terms of settings, clothing, hairstyles and such it is old-fashioned and classy, BUT (and this is a huge but) they really did everything pretty much accurately, loyal to the original story, they tried to be authentic and innovative at the same time whereas the K version sometimes really didn't know what it does... yup, budget is something you should really consider when doing adaptation of a story where rich boys, rich school, rich cars and rich everything are the elements. I felt that K version simply neglects this, although they tried but... maybe they shouldn't have even started to make a remake out of this if they didn't got the proper money for that. This is what the JP ver does very well, they recognized that where are the aspects they really should spend money on. All in all, I'm on the same page with you that this is the better one, in fact, K version settings and faces felt more poor to me, so JP version wins in that too. Btw the new version of the Chinese is very interesting (Meteor Garden 2018), very different approach and very modern settings but there are aspects that makes it likeable and there all the actors are very good actors, I really recommend them (tho for other jobs they've done) but Meteor Garden is also something worthy of your time I think :)

well, fair to say that IU's dramas are worth their price, Scarlet Heart and Hotel del Luna mostly. But a drama that had such an impact on me hmm.. I'd say Hometown Chachacha, although genre is different but it is really a gem, in quality it is the same as this one. I'd also been amazed by The Emperor's Cook (Japanese) and some romantic stories beautifully made.
Can't expect anything else than perfect and delightful from our beloved IUsshi :)
