I actually dislike the FL for her acting. Like she never acted mature in any of her dramas. I am going to give…
are u sure is this the FL's fault? here I think the script is like this. Also, as an actress in the world of dramas, you are easily typecasted and you just have to do what they ask from you for a living. I agree that this is not the pleasant side of the industry but I don't think she's the one to blame for it. I get what you mean tho, I also see the similarities in her choices but imo there's nothing wrong with this method, she's just a beginner actress. However, I also saw the differences between her characters as none of them were entirely the same.

What exactly is the reason Qin Shen hates Ling Wei so much?
I think he doesn't hate her at the beginning, he's simply himself by experssing indifference to her because he's not interested in her. I think he's very clear about it but the girl doesn't seem to take it well (of course, if u had been in a situation like this u can understand her too) and that's what starts to grow something repellent (?) in him, she's kinda becoming more and more obsessed with him which is very frustrating if you can get the guy's pov and feel the frustration bc imagine someone you don't want wants you...

If you wanna kill time with soft and fluffy college-friendship-love cdrama with no deep acting needed, this one…
Thank you for saying it out loud!!! I'm totally on the same point with this, however, seeing the hatred it got from other people makes me feel like there wouldn't be any place in this world for dramas like this, however there is!!! at least I really need these bc life is way too serious sometimes...

OK now I saw your friend request, and I'm pretty sure you weren't sarcastic with your reply, sorry for the doubt!! It is really nice to get to know you, thank you for the request! <3

you mean for real or is this sarcasm? I'm sorry I really can't decide ^^"
I mean thanks if you meant that, great to have an agreement :)
I can recommend other dramas too if you'd like, however so far I'm only familiar mostly the Japanese industry, only these days (pandemia haha) I started to get to know Chinese and I can't help but love them so far however they reealllllyyyy slow sometimes. I only know a few Korean but I don't really like their culture, it is hard for me to adapt, especially when they're all immaturely shouting all over the place :S
Anyway, feel free to ask anytime :)

I think her look does confuse most of us, but I can't agree on what you said about the character. She is nice…
Thank you for your time writing this very detailed answer, I see that now that I misunderstood your previous comment. While I now understand what facial expression were you talking about, I must also claim that I can't see it as something rude or impolite, I usually accept basically any facial expressions people are doing in real life too, because I find it easier not to read too much into it. However, at the same time, I understand different point of views as well as yours, to see this something as impolite. I recently rewatch the drama and as far as I see it (I'm on ep8), she does that expression mostly to Song Siyi and that's understandable from the perspect of the story I think. Sometimes she does that with Qin Shen too, but not in most cases!! She becomes very cute and informal, kinda easy-to-get-along-with after getting to know him better. So far she did to him only when in uncomfortable/embarrassing situations she got into with him and this is why it somehow makes sense to me but I also admit that I am indulgent since I like the character. I am also an antisocial, a bit nerdy person so I really get the feeling when (as you described) 'You do that sort of thing so people would never talk to you again, ' so yes, that can be unpleasant for other people, especially if you are the more social type. Since I am also not, I can get that and I can sympathize with her.
What you said about the lack of appealing factors of her is very interesting because even the drama gives an answer to this. You know there's the other girl, Ling Wei who is seemingly the perfect match for Qin Shen, in terms of appearance, better social skills (as you remarkably noticed), probably even better educational achievements or better social backgrounds, the things, usually matters socially when it comes to someone. But when Ling Wei frantically asks him that in what way she's better than her, Qin Shen responses that (since he's a rebel) these things does not matter to him, only the fact that he likes her. And he saw the good side of her, there are moments where he can see her as hard-working, loyal (at the end, staying at the Departement), truly regretful after being secretive and in general, many times cheerful and lively, somebody who makes him smile, etc. OK these things are verrrrryy stereotypical in dramas, we shouldn't be surprised at these but the logic behind still works I think and although, very conventional (for many people to the point of being boring), overused cliché but holds truth that when in love, only heart matters, only the fact that how you feel about her or something general message like that. It is cliché so if you ar tired of it, you can choose not to watch, I personally love to be convinced about that simple piece of truth so I gladly come for more. Thank you for this interesting conversation, I am always pleseantly disappointed here on this site that people who are watching dramas are way more intelligent than I expected them to be.

Awful, just awful. At first I thought that this drama was created to dishearten young people from being involved…
Yes yes yes guysss it's all true in reality, but if you guys are not offended by my advice, you should watch these (if you wanna) with a different eye, as if you read a manga/manhua bc these stories are only imitations of them and made excusively to entertain us. If you read too much into things within these dramas, you would never enjoy most of them. Yes, I didn't like his possessiveness either but c'mon when we had seen something like this in dramas? I mean in a very cliché, unreal story, something very real, very humane flaw/trait is shown. That's where I laughed a good one and moved on, taking it as interesting and memorable :)

That is a really good point, it feels like they lost track of the conflict with the parentes and then had to squeeze…
I think these things were purposefully left out/swashed away since it's a romantic comedy first and foremost. I really think they just wanted to imply on classic uni student problems but not to take sides or stating firm opinions. When you're doing romcoms you simply can't do that, people come there to be entertained, to have fun, not to think about different perspectives of a problem, we have to do it in all our lives through...

It has many tropes I like in dramas: jealous/possessive ML, cold ML, warmish FL, enemies to lovers, cute friendships,…
For Aaron Deng (ML) it was his second role, I think he will develop in the future as he has talent. At the end I think he nailed this too, but yup, so much down the road for him. But I think he did what he could for now, however i must say these things highly depend on the director, not only on the actor. If you look up here on MDL their list of work, you see they havent done much so I think the level of acting here is understandable. Or my standards are just not that high anymore since I saw waaaaaaayyyyyyy worse acting than this. I really think that this was spot on (except for Deng in the beg.)

I watched till episode 5 and I couldn't make it past the middle of it. The thing that actually bothered me most…
I think her look does confuse most of us, but I can't agree on what you said about the character. She is nice AND funny, she does regret her secretive actions. Also, I never saw her as condescending not even for a glimpse, uninterested, yes. Bc she is, according to her character. Also, we don't see her much with males except for the 2 MLs so I think there's so little evidence on that, at classes and anywhere else she's just that kinda reserved and a bit antisocial (I can tell since I am totally the same), mostly she's with her girlfriends which is pretty normal. Also, we can't have enough evidence on her studies since story only implied on it, but I think she was somewhat talented in arts, seeing her drawing and sculptures, although not that much as ML (but we know this is just the story that ML is great in everything). What I liked about her is her being honest and just, yet cute, and adorable at romantic moments, kinda clumsy but never held any ill intentions at heart, she was generous and kinda hardworking, also when it came to others (shame that writers didn't do anything with their side-characters), thoughtful when she learned about her friend's depression, forgiving with 2 friends who did kinda wrong things... These are not likeable traits in your eyes? Bc in mine these are.
Lastly, I really think you just read too much into that look, I dont think she was looking down on anybody, she sometimes just didn't understand other's way of thinking or their intentions but never ever condescendent. Maybe the actress has a that kind of vibe that makes you feel like that but I really think she's just a warm-hearted person in reality too. She seems like so to me at least. Yup, despite her looks.

*****Q. To the people who have watched the full show can you pls help me gain some clarity to my complaints and…
To your 1. Point: I agree the concept held a bigger potential than it had been brought out, but I always explain it with the fact that it is a drama, there's a range within all these stories are portrayed, I think they simply just can't add any more kinda 'upper-intelligent' opinions/views on being single and why does it worth it or something like that bc it then wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, also story would loss its fluffiness, maybe becomes too serious.

To your 2. Point: Whatt 30 eps??? The whole is 24 in all...

To your 3. Point: You should watch other C dramas, they usually have a speed like this. sometimes they come together waaayyyy slower, like in Wait, My youth they come together only at college but first half of the story is in high school basically only the chase. But my latest experience is with A little thing called first love, we'll I haven't seen that much slowness anywhere, now THAT is slow really, and kinda too detached (esp the ML), usually it doesn't bother me since I'm a patient person in general but that drama (A little thing called ...) really tested me....

Same here sis, I continued the story in my mind where he learns how to be more accomodating in a relationship, just so that I can keep loving them together lol :P

You definitely don't.
Well, some people like both versions, but as much as I can see they're the minority. It's just my opinion, but yes it is THAT bad, I watched all eps of the K version bc I wanted to pull it through in order to compare to the J one which I immensely love, in a hardcore fangirl method loll :D
and yes, K one does differ in so many ways that I even got the feeling I watch a complete different story with the only similarity in the title. In this sense, it can be an average K drama but it is definitely not Liar Game. I think they didn't manage to capture the vibes, the whole message, the meaning of the original one. IMO tho..
