I dont think they really need star power as much as a good acting it was both Joo Ji Hoon and the rest of the…
I can see you want the classic to be as un-tarnished as possible! :P As a fan of the manhwa, I thought nobody fit their characters, look or personality-wise so I'm not too hooked up on the original cast.... I'm sure fans of the original-drama will have really high standards to satisfy!.... Plus if they make it too modern & politically-correct.... it might face the same-problem as Meteor Garden reboot did... :)
I see you're a manhwa-reader/ fan as well?!Agreed on the teenagers bit. Adolescence-fueled rage and toxicity happens…
Yup, I have read the full thing, twice. xD Was one of my favourites!... I would read it on mangafox, the scan-lations that got done by fans. However, as far as I know, mangafox got axed very brutally. I don't know of any other site that hosts it... Recently I found a blog that hosts the last 20/30 chapters and has discussions on it, but again, it's not the full thing! But I'm sure it exists somewhere! :) I'd highly urge you give it another shot... totally worth it! <3
It would be awesome if Song Kang or Lee Do Hyun plays either Shin/Yul, both are so versatile. I also think Cha…
Many will check out the remake just for the sake of nostalgia. They don't really need traffic-actors to attract viewers..... so I'm hoping CEW is not picked just for the sake of his popularity, to play yet another rich, cold and aloof ML based off a manhwa/ webtoon character.
MGY's role in true beauty is quite close to this (with the low self-esteem and blossoming into somebody more confident)....…
Same, KSH looks and fits the part. But I think she has outgrown her 'idol-ish' drama phase full of traffic actors and is considering only 'serious' scripts, kinda like a mini Son Yejin.
Honestly I don't think cancel culture really exists in the way people think it does. it's like you said- it's…
Oh, delayed justice cases usually have the judge declare: 1.) acquittal for the perpetrator if he's been a law-abiding citizen already absorbed into society and degree of his crimes aren't severe. 2.) juvie instead of jail-time, incase the crimes are severe but the perpetrator comes from a background of influence and has been able to negotiate a settlement for 'leniency' with the victims' families. Yup, sad, but true.
I bet they’ll cast Cha Eun Woo for the ML. Like, I’m literally sure of it.
This. THIS is what I don't want. CEW looks nothing like Shin, neither does he have his body language. Folks would say 'hey, that's what acting is for'... but we all know he's a little green in that department. CEW is a ray of sunshine and a total puppy, he CANNOT play the dark and brooding Shin. But the way hallyu-fandom stands as of today..... you're probably 100 percent right T_T
If they don't deal with Shin's imposter syndrome here, and candy-wash the entire thing with some silly high-school romance, Imma have an angry-talk with the writers. Come on guys, it's 2021 already and we need to talk about serious topics. We also have the full source-material now, so you better not chicken out from Shin's issues, okay?
rightttt i hate when they have older actors play the role of younger characters but they don't look the age AT…
I am really horrible at thinking up of dream-casts. T_T Plus I don't know too many of 20-25 y/o actors to imagine their faces. I distinctly remember JJH's first project was Princess Hours and he admitted he was quite green in terms of acting (we agreed too!)... So while I hope they don't pick any inexperienced idols to portray these characters, slight inexperience may come off as 'teenage charming' if they're young, but also come off as super annoying, if they're older. It's a catch-22.
So for Shin, tbh.... the artwork portrays him with cold eyes lacking warmth, with a broody countenance and air of aloofness, and severely down-turned lips. Shin is someone who is very guarded with his facial expressions, but his eyes often betray his emotions. And his posture too. And it's veryyyyy different from being wooden or robotic. He expresses affection and his emotions with gestures instead. There are times he looks bored out of his mind, but deep down he is heavily burdened with anxiety about his eventual future.
Somehow, I think V from BTS gives off very similar vibes and also kind of looks the part? I haven't watched him in Hwarang, but he has come miles from his days there. If he is picked, he really doesn't have to do much as Shin, because the character resonates with his persona? Shin himself isn't a very likeable person if you view him initially through Chae-Kyung's lens. But as a reader, you sympathize with his situation and feel like he deserves all the love in this world. I think somebody like V will help endear the character more towards viewers! ^^ (this is coming from my interpretation of the artwork and not the 2006 drama lol)
Whoever is casted as the 4 leads for this, will be catapulted to astronomic-fame, overnight. That's what all shoujo classic manhwa-based dramas do. Look at Meteor Garden/ HanaDan/ HanaKimi/ Playful Kiss/ BOF/ ISWAK/ Goong, etc.... so I hope they pick somebody talented and deserving of this fame. Ps. whoever pitched Lee Jaewook's name... I completely agree, he's a good choice too, plus he acts decently well! :D
The actor Ji Soo was a child when he started bullying and a teen when he became a delinquent. The adults in his…
Sexual assault accusations are a serious matter and must be dealt by police/ and in court (as per laws of SK) You'd be surprised but there are legal frameworks s there atleast, to deal with cases of delayed justice (in case of minors perpetrating crimes against other minors, but having been found out and investigated after one or both parties have reached adulthood).... Let it take its natural course with the legal proceedings. Public can at max determine whether he gets to have a comeback or not after his MS.
Honestly I don't think cancel culture really exists in the way people think it does. it's like you said- it's…
Cancel-culture is the moral treatment of the accused, by the public. More severe crimes deserve a legal addressing too, as will be in this case. I don't think being cancelled is the end-all/be-all of it. Cancelling (or rather not) decides whether he can make a comeback or not. The judicial system still exists to mete out punishments as per the severity of the crimes committed, and cancel-culture is never a replacement for court-proceedings..... I have a fair idea how this is going to play-out but that's just my opinion and I want others' too! Nonetheless, curious to see consequences happen in real-time.
Please drama-gods.... let the ML be young enough to look like he could pass off for a high-school student, yet let him be tall and ripped enough, so he looks like he does kickboxing in his spare time (Shin's hobby like all other sexy 2000's MLs)... Please let it happen! _/\_
Lee Jae Wook and Moon Ga Young would be perfect for this.
MGY's role in true beauty is quite close to this (with the low self-esteem and blossoming into somebody more confident).... She's convincing for sure, but dunno she'd take something similar. But then again, Goong-remake = shoot to massive stardom overnight.
While I definitely like the concept of modern world kingdom (I loved Kings on NBC for example), I feel like Goong…
The manhwa had really nice social commentary though. The whole 'existence of woman and her identity beyond that of a partner to a man', 'bodily autonomy of a woman versus a scoail construct- aka the palace, owning and controlling their women', etc.... The drama made it more about the romance, and diluted the gender-role aspects talked about in the manhwa. The remake would do wonders if they remain faithful to the original work.
Plus if they make it too modern & politically-correct.... it might face the same-problem as Meteor Garden reboot did... :)
