The way I have made peace with it, is to think the writers wanted to troll us. We all know HJP was the 'fated one' (even dodal shippers have to acknowledge that)....HJP was SDM's soulmate (as has been established through multiple parallels between them)... and Start Up is an effort by the writers to show 'fate' the 'cosmic middle finger' by making SDM end up with NDS (because of his 'big hands').... I mean, 'fate' does win in every k-drama, so yeah this was different for a change. Hmm, this is also a proof that 'different' isn't always good.
With all the remakes, I wonder if they gonna remake this one too? Hoping for a Korean one !!!
This and Mars definitely deserve it. Look at True Beauty.... it's such a tropey HS drama from the 2010's.... but they took such a fresh spin to it, and people are loving it! The updated visuals are an added bonus ^^ I wish AC & Mars get their k-drama adaptations. It could be a revival of Makjang-melos from early 2000's, like winter sonata & stairway to heaven! <3
I've done some KSH research. Which is the best one to watch if anyone's seen them?Catch the GhostEulachacha Waikiki…
You Drive Me Crazy, because there is this one scene with KSH eye-acting his SOCKS off, and it's mind-blowing to see somebody with theatre background have *such* impeccable control over his micro-expressions.... oh man.
I don't see what's fake about him? He's quite honest and passionate about his life, ups and downs included. The…
Yeah, EO's *front* was just a 'persona' that had a name (yoon seon-ah)... whereas an average person''s * front* usually doesn't. Deep down, we're still the same people. Just like JW's *collected, successful architect* is a front...EO's *beach-girl* was a front too. Each of these sides of the two people garner completely different reactions from people. There is a side to EO and JW, that is seen as a loser (EO's old-ordinary self, and JW's alcoholic, pining-lover, interview-self)....and there is a side to both that is seen as effortlessly charming and cool (EO's beach oersona and JW's surfer-boy/ successful architect side).... these are all different facets of a unique personality, and it is the 'world's judgement' that makes a side of you, fake....

Well, Jae-Won's 'fakeness' is only having a 'front' to the world, pretending like he has stuff under control when deep down he's losing it. Infact, we ALL are guilty of the same, when things don't go our way and we are a mess, we pretend like we got it under control. What struck me aa ironic is the fact that we as people are the first to accuse somebody of being 'fake' without realizing we too, somehow, somewhere, are guilty of the same....and Jae-Won ultimately calling her a 'fake' to her face, encapsulated this irony pretty well, because just a moment later after this confrontation, Geon, who'd been thinking of JaeWon's character as a 'pathetic loser from the interviews', immediately identifies Jaewon as a 'what a cool, good-looking guy he is' with his 'cool whiskey, expensive clothes and watch'....without really knowing he's the same mopey-kid as in the interview. Anyway, what I meant to say was that people are quick to pass judgements, without really knowing the person in and out, and the script today brilliantly captured that.
Also, did anybody notice how Jae-won is 'perceived' as cool and suave (somebody who drinks expensive alcohol, is gorgeous looking, wears expensive clothes & watches and is a smooth-talker), and yet, as viewers, we and close ones (like his Dad, cousin and other characters once they get to know the 'embarrassing' bits of his life) think of him as a 'pathetic loser' that he is...
I know what EO did was drastic (with her fake name & persona), but I think the show does a good job depicting how *every single* person has a front they present to the world, and deep-down inside, one you get to know them.... are quite different instead. I know the show won't go in the direction of airing out Jae-won's 'fakeness' (as it was only a minor detail today)... but I kinda felt how hypocritical he is, calling EO a fake, when he himself on a more generic-scale, is doing just that (presenting a 'fake' front to the world), albeit un-intentionally...
First of all, what an amazingly beautiful soundtrack this has got! ^^
Secondly, since ratings went up, I guess more people liked this week's episodes than the prev ones. For me, that's definitely the case, because I no longer *hate* Eun-Oh. It's important to make leads *likeable* in order to want to continue watching... Though, hating her any less or understanding her any more, doesn't make what she did with Jae-won okay. I'm still mad at her for hurting him.
I haven't watched TB, but I get the impression the love triangle has ended or is ending soon. Also aren't the…
Nope still dragging it... Start Up- Halmeoni: "Hypothetically speaking, if the IRL Nam DoSan and the letter-Dosan were different, who'd you pick?" Dalmi: (after having a torrid rooftop makeout-sesh) "I'd pick the 'Dosan' from the letters"
True Beauty- Second Male Lead: I like her, but she has a boyfriend.... what say, should I give up? Female Lead: What? Noways.... !!! Ain't no girl gonna reject you! You better go and steal that girl, make her yours...
So far, Mr. Queen has set the record for being the MOTHER of all love triangles.....
Primary Love triangles... 1. Cheoljong X SoYoung X HwaJin 2. Cheoljong X SoYoung X BongHwan 3. Choljong X SoYoung X Creepy-but-Hot Cousin 4. Cheoljong X HwaJin X Dashing-Hyung (?)
Secondary Love triangles: 5. Cheoljong X HwaJin X BongHwan (initial episodes) 6. Hong Yeon X BongHwan X Three-Concubines (cutie-sexy-innocent) 7. BongHwan X Hong Yeon X Cheoljong (ep 13.. wink wink)

Please feel free to add to this monstrous list! ^_^
Xiumin to sing the new OST (no. 7) for Mr. Queen to be released on 31st January! ^^ Mr. Queen got the honor of his first comeback-song after MS! yayyyy! :D :D
