Guys, I couldn't stop thinking about episode 7's ending and a certain very suitable song so I made an FMV thing! https://youtu.be/XK__Bfr-1Bg (SPOILERS IF YOU'RE NOT UP TO EP 8 YET)
okay i'm all caught up on the 4 eps now and i need to know, WHAT THE FUCK DID THESE GUYS DO TO NON BECAUSE I CANNOT…
My theory of what happened is based on ep 1 opening scene and the references they've made to the incident so far. They were a bunch of little punks when they were kids, grew up together obvs. And I think whatever happened at that lodge, was a prank gone hella wrong. Because that was Non in the beginning running with Jin, I think, and maybe the whole thing was a set up to scare the ever loving sh*t out of Non, and they were all on drugs and drinking and it got out of hand, and it backfired. And maybe Non went a little nuts after despite it only being a 'murderer hunting us' prank, and then maybe he was institutionalized and then he disappeared from there and now he's crazy and he's dead ass gonna' kill them all. Except Jin, who I found sus from episode 1, is HELPING him, because maybe Jin was also on the receiving end of the prank and he's dead ass angry and wants revenge too.
Jin and fluke are a question to me. Because I do not understand their friendship at all. We see on many occasions…
I think it's a great example of how people change as they grow up and also how their friendship has deteriorated after whatever happened between them before with Non, but they also have to stick together because of whatever happened. It's like keeping your enemies close but also who needs enemies with friends like these and then with the new friends, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, all happening at the same time π They are all ticking time bombs. I love it.
I'm not a fan of BL, so I'm hesitant to start this since I'm reading similar things on this thread to the thread…
Yeah, I think TU is def not for you. And I'm not sure what your drama/tv show taste is, but if you're looking for two ML's with just real good friendship chemistry and nothing else, including interesting plots, I can think of three good Korean ones I enjoyed (if you haven't already seen them) - Bloodhounds - D.P - The Guest
The female leads in The Guest and Bloodhounds are also likeable.
One of my 2024 goals was to get my mother to FINALLY watch The Untamed. We're 7 episodes in and it's going well π She can't remember anyone's names π but she seems to be interested at least.
I suspect the hell out of White. Do I really have a basis for this? Nope. Doesn't matter. I'm side eyeing the…
I suspect Jin, and whoever is the' ghost', are responsible. I suspected him since the first ep. As for the 'supernatural stuff, I was already suspecting drugs or some kind of hallucinogenic, and after the mention of the original group of friends using drugs, I think it's likely there's something in the 'water' that's making them see things and act so erratic.
Okay, I'm all caught up and I gotta say, YA'LL TRIPPIN' This show is good. Even if I decided to nick pick little things in each episode (which can be done in any show ever and especially in 'BL' shows), still, overall it doesn't impact that this is actually a straight up entertaining gore/thriller serve from Thailand.
I think if Wansarut was played by Freen, it would be much better. I don't care about fans getting mad or whatever,…
I agree, reading comments that people would get mad if an actor shoots a few romantic scenes with a different person than the main pairing (especially in this context where it's meant to be literally the same person) is just mind boggling to me π΅ like wow.
I personally would have been fine with the initial actress being in the flashbacks of today's ep, I also think it would have been better for consistency, that OR just reshooting those few initial river scenes with Babe as Wansarut, OR making Babe as Wansarut appear more female through make up or cgi.
But over all it's minor, I feel like this is not a big deal in the grand scheme of the show.
It was giving those tired BL 'sub partner' trope vibes, and then I wondered whether to blame it on Tharn's precedent…
Yeah, I was gonna be really disappointed if they tried to drag that trope out beyond his reasons for doing it before ep 7's conclusion, it's a really outdated thing to do, even for fan service π
I don't get. she keeps saying sister which means a girl but I'm seeing Babe who is a man. I don't get that part…
I kinda thought of it in the sense where Naga's shapeshift (from my vague knowledge of them used in other fiction) so I just figured Wansarat chose that male appearance in human form. But I did think that since they wanted to keep Babe playing both Tharn and Wansarut, they could have just made him wear something similar to Wanwisa, just covering his torso because then the past and present gender thing would have been a little more ambiguous at least. But they chose what they chose -(ΰ²₯βΏΰ²₯)α
Firstly, I'm gonna' just glaze over the police work side of things, kay. Best not dwell on ANY of that. Because overall I LOVED this ep. I LOVED the fight scenes (sans the gun fighting, where we heard the shots going off without any actual visual indication of such a thing) π The physical fights scenes on the other hand, both human and supernatural, looked GOOD. I love the fight choreography and cinematography of it! And not me laughing when this happened: *Νβ¨ πͺ β¨*Ν VS ΰ·΄ π£ ΰ·΄ and Wansarat going ))))))κ Κ·α΅α΅α΅α΅α΅α΅
But no seriously, without any spoilers, that was an awesome scene and this was an awesome episode!! In the beginning of the ep, I was a little annoyed with how Tharn seemed to be pulling a Katy Perry, Hot n Cold after how the last ep concluded. It was giving those tired BL 'sub partner' trope vibes, and then I wondered whether to blame it on Tharn's precedent as a character toward Phaya so far, BUT that got cleared up and after that first scene, it was all 11/10.
The CGI scenes were cool too, I never get very bent on CGI unless it absolutely sucks, but this didn't suck and it was actually kind of shiny and pretty, like mid budget video game. So it was fine by me. Loved the past life costumes, simple but effective in creating a past world aesthetic, and even though my knowledge on this cultural belief is borderline non existent, I'm enjoying the story.
Wanwisa though, like, gurl, man's HUMAN, he got lungs! Even if he were still part boid, she just dipped like she really thought he was going to okay after spending 20 minutes down there xD Also Khem is an absolute dork, very hilarious, and finally, WHY didn't they let Yai do his sideways core body lift shirtless? Is it because they know we can see it on IG??? Huh?
- It's good Mhok quit the job and found work on his own, the pair needed to separate his job and relationship…
(So at least their dramatic antics were reasonable right? π) - π Nah, it still doesn't make sense, had they not behaved that way, and just let him leave nicely after quitting, she wouldn't even have known anything else and become such a prison warden. Especially if Day knew what she's like.
As for the Asian household thing, yeah, that's what I suspected but it's very difficult to relate to, you know. If I were Day's age in that situation, hell, if I were 18, and my mother tried to put those kinds of childish restrictions on me I'd simply say "Nope, sorry mum. K ily bye" But maybe eventually that's gonna be what happens if the mother ends up being an even bigger pain in the ass.
It is really good, yes not so much on the cp part, but the story moves forward at a good space and the acting…
oh, yeah, that's fine, makes sense, because it's horror and they're tryna stay alive, not gonna be much room for that, probably why they laid it on so thick in ep 1.
Ep1: Not sure how the rating is so low, are eps 2 and 3 bad or something? Because episode one is helluva strong start. Here Thailand is finally giving us an interesting plot and genre (horror is a bonus imo) and it has good acting (almost the best in 'BL's I've seen, being the most natural and flowing in dialogue and shooting, without unnecessary stares and pauses and 'dramatic moment' scenes, or narration cues and whatnot), decent effects, good directing and ya'll be rating it low? That's a pity. I hope eps 2 and 3, and the subsequent lot, don't suck because this feels like it has the potential to be a good one.
Even the circle of friends could make sense LGBTQ inclusive wise, because it's a group of friends and we don't know how they know each other, they could be from different schools, neighbourhoods, towns, they could have met through other people, parties, friends or however over many years (Jin implied 'years' in the dialogue). The writers have made it a BL, sure, but basically just replacing what could have been het people/couples going on a binge trip, making it all guys with mixed sexual orientations (which hopefully includes not just gay and bi, but someone het too), which in 2023/2024 is actually plausible. It also kicks off right away, they dove right in to the action with setting the eerie atmosphere and scenes, the tension amongst some of them, the secret ominous backstory and the major injury (he'd be hella lucky to survive two days yo).
The 'explicit' scenes are even done more along the lines of how they'd be shot in a horror/gore film, or even just a 'teen comedy', except much less over the top if you ask me, and it also flowed with the story, no excess, no lingering, but still believable. I was just HOPING it wouldn't be supernatural, (more like Wrong Turn or Scream vibes), you know, rather just be a straight up murderer hunting them (ngl my money was already on Jin), but episode 2 preview and comments seems to make it clear it's supernatural, which isn't bad if it's done right. So I'm KEEN.
Judging by comments, if the next two eps are bad, it's gonna be the supernatural aspect to blame? xD
For a lot of reasons, this is probably my fave episode so far, but there are also bad points....
- It's good Mhok quit the job and found work on his own, the pair needed to separate his job and relationship after becoming a couple. - I liked the brief interaction between Night and Phojai, in which they hinted they'd been keeping in contact behind the scenes. I also like how he flirted without flirting, it was funny and her reaction was awkward and funny, but also cute. I'm guessing he must really like her to call the baby his. Also I like this actor, I didn't like him much in Only Friends, he's MUCH better here, this role suits him far more. (PS: The actress of Phojai is f*cking gorgeous.) - The relationship development between Mhok and Day is good, steady and healthy. - Day and Night finally resolving their differences was such a great scene. - Day and Aon's handshake greeting was hilarious, good friendship vibes.
Two negative things imo: - I feel like Mhok and Day both handled him leaving the job poorly. It wasn't like they were breaking up, they could have separated with much less drama had they simply said to each other, 'okay, well, we'll just see each other normally then' instead of making it a whole thing and giving that power tripping mother something to lord over him about.
- Which brings me to finding it ridiculous (and it's probably a cultural difference thing) that Day's mother tells her two grown ass sons what to do in their day to day lives, just because they live in her house? And they actually just accept it? I can understand certain expectations and respect while living in your parents house, but that doesn't extend to confining a grown up to the house because she thinks it's a way to 'keep him safe', especially not when he has safe options to go out. And then when he goes out with his sibling, she wants a selfie, like proof of where they are?? And taking his phone away like he's a kid?? Locking him out of the wifi?? What the dumb? And then he has to lie to his mother about where he's going on Christmas like a teenager sneaking around?? I have no idea why Day or Night weren't calling her out on that bullsh*t at every turn. To me, those interactions don't hint at decent parental behaviour. And that's excluding the fact that Day is visually impaired, and struggling to find independence, still having to rely on her whether he wants to OR NOT. She's on a power trip. Because of all this, their 'touching' family moment fell totally flat for me. Day's mother is sh*tty. #fightme
Side note: I will say the actress of the mother nailed the 'resting b*tch face in the final scene, right before she broke the good news. π

Just my speculation.

On another note, I made some TU fmv's a while back, just thought I'd drop them here to share. (don't watch if you haven't seen the full series, spoilers)

All around pleasing episode. Ep 9, let's have it!
