I think Dou Zhao fell for white-haired, charismatic Song Mo just like we did. She can't give up on him and has flashbacks lol

I don't want Song Mo to go astray, but that white hair tho. Can we get it back, pretty pls? 😂

My gosh! I absolutely loved episode 10—it was a masterpiece! Honestly, I wasn’t completely sold on this drama at first, but it just keeps getting better and better!

“Even loyal subjects would end up in unjust death. Then why shouldn’t I turn into the very traitor and villain they fear?”

This line gave me chills! Such a powerful moment—I’m obsessed!

Paused ep. 10 just to come here and say how cool that scene sequence was, where the Eunuch gets knocked unconscious and wakes up on the upper deck. It was so well-executed! The cinematography with its blurry effects and first-person perspective, was incredibly immersive—it felt just like a scene from a video game :D

Is it melo?
Not really. Past with young cast a bit more melo. Present is romcom.

This "i pick on you cuz i like you" thing does not work well with adults in their mid to late thirties. The drama…
Agree 100%!

Both lead actors rarely act in romance dramas lately and will less likely in the future, so it's really disappointing...

Okay I appreciate you have acklnowledged that the imaturity is part of the com side(unlike so many others on here)…
Sure, they bickered as teens, but they were never as childish as they are now.

There's a big difference between being naturally immature as high schoolers and behaving childishly as adults nearing 40. I don’t even mind the bickering itself, but their antics—ignoring each other, pulling faces and using others to relay messages while in the same room—feels overly juvenile. Honestly, I’d be embarrassed to act like that as an adult, especially in front of others.

I get that it’s meant to be comedic, but to me, it just comes off as cringe.

The constant immaturity has overstayed its welcome (we're already halfway through the drama). Worse, I’m bracing myself for the same level of cringe when they eventually get together. Maybe I was wrong to expect a bit more maturity from a romcom featuring middle-aged leads.

I’m struggling to connect with the adult characters because they act so childish and annoying. While I understand this is meant to serve the "comedy" aspect, it’s starting to feel draggy and repetitive.

This kind of story would shine so much more if it leaned into slice-of-life/romance genre rather than romcom. A more mature approach would amplify the angst and tension to incredible levels. But imo, the adult leads have almost no chemistry because of this immature approach.

Also I love Yumi, but her acting is not doing it for me here. Or maybe it's the FL's leads personality. It feels overly exaggerated, reminiscent of a 2010s FL archetype. Obnoxious and wide-eyes... lol Where are the emotions? I was hoping for more mature leads in this drama, but ironically, they come across as less mature than their younger counterparts.

It’s easy to predict they’ll end up as a cringe romcom couple, even though their dynamic as teens wasn’t cringe at all. That said, the comedy in this drama seems tailored for that kind of pairing, so I’m keeping my expectations low for their adult romance.

This is my first comment on this drama and I’ve given it enough time to form an opinion. It’s still enjoyable in its own way, but definitely coded with that romcom-cringe energy.

Finished first 4 episodes. Good start, but I definitely didn't expect it to be a "dream" or 2nd life... I actually thought in first episode that we get a drama of these two leads with their respective lives that they already lived. Being hurt, scarred and so on... So yes, I was actually disappointed by this "fantasy" element, which was not stated in the genres nor the synopsis.

So now their romance will live of by this "destiny" laid upon them rather than the natural encounter they had in the 1st life/dream. I guess while watching ep 1, I built up totally different expectations...

I liked their former characters and hoped for them to develop like that, so that "dream" sequence through me totally off. I missed Song Mo's white hair immediately lol He had so much charisma as the infamous Song Mo. I doubt we'll get him back, right? Because FL will change the course of the story.

First episode was full of action and exciting, that 2-4 felt kind of dull in comparison. But the built-up is needed, so I understand.

Still, I'd have preferred a drama about the 1st lives/dream characters. Let's see where this goes...

Great... poisoned leads again ... Cdramas and their love for poison and SE this year. And I don't trust novels endings anymore. Screenwriters can change whatever they want.

K-dramas have been a bit of a letdown for me this year. Even when I started off loving one, the story always seemed to lose its spark along the way and I ended up losing interest in most, though there were a few exceptions.

That’s why I usually hold off on sharing my thoughts until I’ve seen more. But here, I couldn’t help myself! I’m really enjoying it so far. Here’s hoping it keeps the momentum going and lives up to my excitement. I desperately need a 10/10 K-drama this year… or maybe it’s me that’s the problem, haha 😂

How did this drama end up having 7.7 rating, what happened?
I'm actually really surprised as well. As unreliable as MDL ratings sometimes are... 7.7 is way too low. Honestly, I can't believe this is authentic rating. I also didn't see much haters nor displeased viewers on this page, so I'm genuinely confused where that rating came from.

I've watched so many dramas in my life and even the quite bad, low-budget, short-length dramas with the most ridiculous plot and horrible acting have better rating lol

Well, I liked it 😊

Liang Dai Wen's father is actually such a thoughtful and well-spoken character. Honestly, the reconciliation took far too long, in my opinion—but at least they finally shared some truly heartwarming moments in the end. I especially loved how Dai Wen brought Gu Yi to his family after her mom passed away. It was exactly what she needed: a change of environment and people who could genuinely understand her pain. Having shared similar experiences of loss, they were able to support and confide in one another in such a meaningful way.

The family dinner scene in ep. 30 was a standout moment for me. It carried a powerful message for both the characters and us as viewers. Death and loss of loved ones is terrifying, yet it’s the most natural part of life for all of us. I feel like this drama handled such a heavy topic with incredible depth and grace.

This drama had it flaws, but it was better than a lot of dramas I've watched this year. And I've watched a lot :D It was consistent and the pace was never off. It had wonderful emotional scenes, wholesome conversations and the acting was great. I really liked the lead couple, even tho their push-and-pull in the middle was a lil bit of a drag. But as I binge-watched those episodes, it didn't feel too long for me.

I agree with most, that the "stand-up" comedy was not really funny and even cringe sometimes. tbh I skipped through a lot of those. But I guess they make more sense and are funny, if you understand the language and therefore nuance of it. Also the workplace scenes were not my cup of tea. I feel if they made this drama shorter and the focus only on the leads, this would be a solid 9 for me.

Additionally the cinematography was phenomenal! It was beautiful and I loved it!

The current rating is not justified for me at all. This drama should be no less of 8 in MDL standards. But well, this is my opinion, but I'm sure a lot of viewers do agree with me.
