I really don’t think it’s aimed at just teens. China has a big aging population and the desire for romance do not die with age, myself included. This historical slice of life romance mixed with intrigue is so well made that it will appeal to all ages. Also we’re socialized to like young looking stars, so to have 2 gorgeous stars are a big plus. Besides, everyone can relate to this story at any age. If your mums and grandmas watch, I’m sure they will like. For a drama to be wildly successful, it takes all ages. Hesitancy to invest could be due to many reasons. Covid lockdowns and protocols are big issues everywhere, especially in China I would think. These are additional expenses and complexities. That’s what a friend of mine who produces ads said. And, I would think that after TLB, ZLS and WL would be hot items and in addition, the author is famous for having written Minglan.
