Haha. There has been lots of controversy about parenting and on the mother’s behavior on this topic. You will have to keep reading posts regarding this below.

Like you I thought every episode from ep 1 was so riveting. Not sure why some people didn’t like the early episodes either. Maybe not the genere they like? To me they set the stage and give the Leads’ background story. If these were glossed over, then there’s no depth and we’ll keep wondering why he or she is doing this and that for every episode following. Just my thoughts

For sure Niao Niao’s mother has tempered her angry tirade but still giving displeased glances and remarks. Why is Naio Naio’s behavior annoying to you? That’s her personality though and she is still learning. I am not a brave person myself and wished I would be more brave and stand up for myself more like Niao Naio. Look how she held her own at the Lou manor with those nasty women. It caused the future sister in law to speak up for her. Not saying CSS should marry into it, but a lot of people said she doesn’t know how bad it would be etc, but it’s nothing she hasn’t experienced before though. Actually all the hardship she endured prepared her for such situations but I’m glad she saw what a viper’s pit she would marry into. Noticed her mum does not object anymore to the marriage. And here coming the white knight LBY to their rescue - what a good man.

Yes and I think because of the 3 men’s interest, CSS’s mother is having second thoughts on the worth of her daughter. It’s beyond her wildest dreams that her daughter could marry so well.

Oh lord. Some of those people need to get a life! What day and age are we living in? The hate needs to stop. Watch more dramas and spend less time hating. :) if this drama is delayed for this type of nonsense, I’d be pissed..

I agree with you. She always said she was unlucky so she wanted to hold on to Lou Yao who is so innocent and good. He does everything for her. Even LBY thinks he’s good even though he’s in love with her. So big of him to wish them well.

My take is that since 3 very eligible men are very interested in her daughter is letting her know CSS is not a daughter to be shameful off. She is beginning to see CSS’s value.

The emperor is super cute, not like other emperors in other cdrama but history says he was a benevolent emperor. I don’t know about the other royals. Haven’t got that far yet but I read snippets that some of them are bad

But I read translated excerpts of the novel by Scaffie in the Discussion section and it was the scene where she played the flute in his room after he was beaten. The emperor and empress also heard CSS’s flute in their room so Concluded that he lived in the palace but that may not be so. will have to see if later episodes show this. I corrected my above posting in case my conclusion is wrong

I thought maybe she didn’t accept the cape from him because she was already engaged to LY. She’s also a bit intimidated by him at this stage. She s 15 and he around 0. You can read chapter 7 0f the translated excerpts of interaction between CSS and LBY. They left CSS’s mother. Apparently, it was approved by both CSS’s and LY’s fathers and they may not know or care for the matchmaking etiquette and don’t even rely on Niao Niao to know. She is clueless due to being locked up. I doubt if she every attended a wedding - don’t get me started as to who’s fault it is.

No CSS does not marry LY. She marries LBY at the very end so he is no longer the lone wolf

She has such poor self esteem being told by almost everyone she is unworthy. She said many times she’s been unlucky since birth and as she tells 3rd aunt, she is selecting the best fit though we all know she does not know who is her best fit at this time. We all think LBY kits her the best but at this time in her left she is not prepared to live like a high status noblewoman. Whether to bow at people or not, she has to look at others first and follow their lead.
