I read that analysis first before I came to this comment section. perhaps that’s why I don’t have such a bad impression of Shuyi than some of the viewers here.

I think Shan Shan is a good friend to Shuyi but that doesn’t make her a good relationship advisor for Suyi. I think Suyi knows Shan Shan dates a lot - that is why she asks her for advice. Each of us have friends whom we ask advice from but it doesn’t mean we always follow what they say. My thought is Shan Shan must have some sort of ‘baggage’ and though Guan Ji revealed his, I don’t know if we will know what Shan Shan’s is. She knows Guang Ji needs to know what he really wants and make a commitment first before they can be together because he is always surrounded by women. I think Shan Shan sincerely wants to help Shuyi but her advice is not always right for Shuyi.

There are lots of answers below with differing opinions. I hope you saw the Ep where her mother won’t believe that her that she has a love interest . So she can either argue with her mum till she is blue in the face or take the easy way out just pretend to obey and bring along the her intern as chaperone and she knows Yu You is ‘safe’

Also it was her mum who invited YY in. Once you are a guest in a Chinesefamily’s home you are to be treated with utmost courtesy. And she told him numerous times, she is not into him and she has a boyfriend but he doesn’t care. Also, he is a Titan in the financial world, her world and the financial world is a small one with a few top, elite players. Should she commit suicide and pissed him off? I too was trying to make sense of her response. The only think I can think of is this question is like the ‘ if I and my brother are drowning, who would you try to save first dad?’. So she might be chafing at the type of question asked - a trap but since she can”t stand her ex by now, why did she respond ‘can I not choose’ unless it is a rehtorical question on her part and she was trying to make a point that he really did not mean to give her a choice. Did he really expect her to be suicidal and say her ex? Given the scenerio, even a dummy would say it’s you. So I think if she could roll her eyes she would have.

It’s worse when you feel attacked for your opinions which may be different. And I am not talking about you phoenixfrost. Everyone have different experiences and will look at situations differently. it is interesting to hear different viewpoints and discussions but some don’t feel that way and make snide remarks about people who have differing opinions which makes this forum no longer fun and entertaining.

I think I am also more forgiving because I have told so called white lies when appropriate. They are not to hurt others but to just keep peace and goodwill when it is called for:

Thanks for the reminder. It’s all a blur when there are so many episodes. Regarding her mother, she did try to tell her she has a male interest and even sent her a photo but mum does not believe her. And Shi Yan has not confessed so I don’t think she can call him her boyfriend yet. So I think to keep peace, she tells white lies. From watching Cdramas, I get there’s a huge pressure from parents to blind date and they think a woman of 30 is old and past her prime.

you are jumping to a wrong conclusion that I have not been in a relationship. And I am sure you know what a breakup does to a person and to expect her to act rationally after 2 breakups is asking too much. All I was trying to say is she was getting too much hate and they both share the blame. We will have to agree to disagree and leave it at that. You’re killing me 🤣. I see that Cdramas love to portray CEO’s as cold, silent and stoic. Are there so many of them like that in China? CEOs needs to be good in most everything to succeed and at least be eloquent . Fortunately I like Dylan Wang and Bai Lu so the drama is already a winner in my eyes. First, Please see my response above. I am also interested in knowing why you think she made him insecure because I thought he is a very confident person. Is it inappropriate for Shuyi’s to flirt with him? She asked if she could pursue him and as far as I could remember without viewing the scene again, he didn’t say no. Clearly, she is mesmerized by his looks and Bai Lu does it so expressively. I think what makes me annoyed with Shi Yan is he implied he’s ok for her to covert his wealth and resources but not ok when he finds out it was for with revenge and he didn’t give Her a chance to explain or apologize. Again, I go back to the scene where he stood her up at the aquarium and by his words, she knew it was over for her. I think she knows him better than he realizes. And what if his conclusion after his driver’s reveal was wrong? So for me, it was important for him to speak to her about it and to hear her side and then react with his full fury if he decides to do so.

Ofcourse Shi Yan has the right to be angry and I would be angry too but he should also give her a chance to explain herself and apologize. As far as he is concerned, he learned this through his driver ( I don’t know if this is same in book as I never read it) and jumped to the right conclusion that Shuyi’s was using him for revenge but wouldn’t he want to ask Shuyi’s about it to confirm and hear her explanation?

And do you think it's healthy for him to think she got Close to him for his wealth and be ok with that but not ok when he realized it was for revenge? i’m not ok with either. And also, what many lies did she tell? The one that really mattered was the one for revenge. Unless you mean to say it was 1 lie but happened many times because she continued to avoid telling him? Also does it not matter that she gave the revenge up and fell in love with him instead? If she was still wanting revenge, she would have revealed their relationship to her ex and the homewrecker to shut them up and to really scare them.

She was going to apologize the next day at the aquarium (Ep 27)but he stood her up. She called him to ask if he was coming and he said to ‘Am I supposed to act with you?’ After that, she got depressed and couldn’t get out of bed while still in her hometown and he had gone back to Jiang city. And yes, maybe she could have texted or called him sooner but as angry as he was, would he have accepted her apologies or give her more flack? And when she did text, it was the inappropriate thing to do. At this point, damn if you do and damn if you don’t. It’s probably best for both to take a step back and wait for Shi Yan to cool down because everything he says will be in anger. He even blocked her.
