One thing that hasn't been mentioned enough is how amazing the child actors are. The little Eun Gyeol is sooooo…
I would also like to emphasize that such child actor has been on a roll. He was also the young actor for See You In My 19th Life and left a huge mark on the viewers, along with other child actors in the drama.
And I agree, South Korea is really blessed with great child actors. Not only for the current generation but also in the last 20 years that I've been watching their series.
I remember the child actors used to be Moon Geun Young, Park Eun Bin, Yoo Seung Ho, Park Shin Hye, then eventually Kim YooJung, Kim So Hyun, Yoo Jin Goo, Kim Saeron, Kim Hyang Gi, Jin Ji Hee, etc. Almost all of these wave of child actors managed to transition to adult roles seamlessly and are still huge names in the industry today.
ohh I just commented above this too hahaI also wonder what happened to ChungAh's mom, so I rewatched the clip. My…
This is a nice theory. However, there was a scene where the dad was looking at a family picture of him, a woman, and young Chung Ah. He looked wistfully and painfully at it. The woman was the same woman that Chung Ah referred to as her Mom who got separated from her.
Also, basing from the reaction of the Nanny/Tutor who was peeking at him, this was a usual sight for her and it made her insecure.
Also, the sign language was not really despised by the Chairmn. He only didn't allow the usage of it because the Nanny/Tutor forbade it, making him believe that it would become a hindrance to ChungAh verbal skills. She capitalized on that one time when ChungAh finally uttered "Appa". The Chairman, wanting the best for his daughter, blindly believed on the Nanny/Tutor considering how she was able to make Chung Ah miraculously speak.
am I the only one wondering about what happened to Cheong Ah's mom?
It was implied that it was a painful divorce. Considering how the Chairman took full custody of ChungAh and how the Mom got separated from her entirely, then she must have been the party at fault.
The last few eps showed us the Chairman's wrath when he's hurt. He managed to get rid of the Nanny/Tutor easily so it must be similar with ChungAh's Mom. Perhaps, even more so since the Chairman loved his first wife so much.
Also, in Korea, once spouses get divorced, the ex-wife gets removed from the family registry and both parties sever their ties entirely. Meaning, the Mom essentially no longer becomes the Mother to her children on paper. The minor kids stay in the Dad's family registry, and if the latter remarries, the kids become the children of the new spouse.
So to avoid confusion and also in respect to the new wife, the ex-wife's family would opt to no longer get in touch with the children, also considering how conservative they are to a fault. Unless of course the husband would still allow the bond to continue.
Case in point is what happened to Actress Go Hyun Jung after she got divorced to her husband who was the CEO of Shinsegae Group and the grandson of Samsung's founder. They divorced in 2003 and in her interviews then, she was barred from meeting her son and daughter. This is why she still acts in the hopes that they'd watch her shows one day.
Although I expected Yi Chan's accident to occur, Writer is soooo cruel to write that Eun Gyeol is the cause of…
IKR?? We all feared this, that Eun Gyeoul will be the reason Yi Chan would lose his hearing. Most of us thought that wouldn't happen but oh well. πππ
I'm not ready to let go of this series yetttt πππππ
P.S. That actual accident scene was amazingly done. I didn't know it was coming. Ryeoun also did great in his acting. The scoring was great too! Can't help but feel emotional.
what happened at the very end ? after they bury the box. the ML holding the spell book ? what does that even mean…
Hi. It just means that Jang Mu Jin managed to protect Aeng Cho's spellbooks. That although the crown managed to have her killed, they weren't able to get hold of her much sought after spellbooks. Perhaps, Mu Jin hid it that time when Aeng Cho was asleep in the hut and lured the royal guards with the fake books.
This also answered as to why the shrine was established in the first place. And it was to keep her books safe and also he's hoping to meet her in the next life. Basically, he orchestrated their next meeting. Asked his descendants to keep the shrine safe with a Shaman always on guard. Back then, shamanism is banned as Joseon era was following Confusianism. So the fact that Mu Jin managed to do all that was amazing. He realiy wanted to meet Aeng Cho again.
woah woaaah I didn't realise that many people did not like the show?? Yes it has a very typical k drama plot but…
IKR? I guess we just have to respect their opinion. Other platforms mainly have praises for this series so I guess, it really depends where you check. At least MDL gives us, viewers, an avenue to voice out dissent.
Soβ¦ we got a petty 40 year old virgin and a widower who is apparently a master of disguise with just red lipstick…
The thing is, the widow was a Madame of a noble household. She's expected to just stay inside the home and serve her in-laws through cooking, raising the heir, and other domestic activities. The only persons who may have known her are their servants who are also just working within their home. It's uncommon in the Joseon era for these married women to be out and about. So naturally, she could get away with just a little tweak on her appearance because no one knows her outside. Besides, she's been married for so long that if there's anyone who may have known her in the area, their brains have been wired in seeing the lady/unmarried version of her, and not in a married fashion (braided long hair around the head, etc) so they won't recognize her right away.
I have only seen the first 6 episodes and then lots of clips but the fact he was awful to her in the beginning…
Was he really that awful? The fact that a trespasser who insists on destroying a place your family holds dear is still being entertained by this very busy big shot lawyer means that he's nice enough to give her a chance to do her job.In real life, Hong Jo wouldn't be able to come close into his law office. Let alone be forgiven for getting in without appointment, and she's done it several times.
If we would really evaluate it, the rude one was Hong Jo for not respecting enough his boundaries, and she's a civil servant at that.
The wall that Sin Yu had against Hong Jo was actually reasonable.

Thank you for the wonderful 16 episodes πππ
