Seems like people really aren't liking this. Not sure if I should start
Take these comments with a grain of salt. And remember, only those who dislike a project would take time to make negative reviews about it in third party pages like MDL. While the rest who enjoy it do not feel the need to comment about it here and instead voice their support through the official social media apps of the project. Hence the good engagement and high ratings of the show.
THIS. I also recommend 'Dear My Friends' if you haven't watched it already.
Ohh Netflix Philippines had it until April 30 only. I guess, Netflix' license for it had expired already. It's available in other apps like Loklok and Hitv
I looked at the title and was like I think this is up my alley since I'm doing a radio course but before I watch…
This one really touches on the life in radio broadcasting. From concept development to casting of DJs, and even to script writing and team dynamics--- they've tackled all of these at the start. Romance revolved around radio broadcasting but as soon as the leads got together, romance became the show's focus.
Him being not in an acting agency is also a factor. Unless he's under those like JYP Entertainment who has NPIO…
Oh no worries. And thank you for clearing that up. I was actually contemplating whether to respond to that comment because it's obviously harmless but I was worried some Fantasy might come across it and think differently.
And oh, I'm actually a Hottest (2PM fan) too for over a decade now so seeing my notifications with your PP in it is such a treat. ๐
Rowoon and Junho are quite similar actually. Sometimes it makes me think if only FNC was able to manage his personal and group schedules well, or if only he's not diagnosed with herniated disc, he must have stayed with SF9, and be like Junho who could juggle both jobs as an idol and actor seamlessly. I just feel bad for Rowoon, he's one of the two members who's trained the longest for SF9 (6yrs) and now he would have to deal with the fact that he's no longer part of the team.
Anyway, sorry for this long post. I just felt comfortable sharing.
I'd like to restate that it's a deliberate choice. DWY was created for the Korean audience, and they definitely understand the cultural nuances, e.g. what the talismans were for.
It might be confusing for the international audience as we lack both the ability to understand the cultural aspect as well as to read Hangul, but imagine if DWY's writer chose to spoonfeed every info to the audience, how boring and weird it must be for the Korean populace. They might lose interest in it.
And this is why DWY's narration really interests me. I loved how I was made to analyze the scenes and then feel proud whenever something just turns out as what I have thought it would be.
And I would never call a seasoned director or any one at that to have misdirected as each project consists of months, even years, of preparation. Storyboards have been made out of specific narrations from the writer's script. Every thing had been made in detail. It's up to the audience to digest it. If everything hits, then well and good. If not, then checking on why would help.

As a Fantasy, your first line definitely stings especially since the boys are too humble with each other's achievements and have a great friendship. They've always been supportive of each other, and are very understanding of Rowoon's setbacks. So Rowoon outshining them is like a taboo topic in kpop as the rest of the members don't deserve to be compared to his success. They all worked hard.
But no worries, I know you mean well. And you are right as well that Rowoon's been getting a lot of love calls every since Extraordinary You, and SF9 members have been always proud of him and his achievement. They even promote his projects when Rowoon couldn't even do the same for them.
Him leaving the team must have hurt them a lot, but it was nice of them to let him go and still support him in this new chapter. The fact that Rowoon still renewed with FNC also speaks volumes. He's being taken care of by the management and by his labelmates, and for that I'm glad.
What I like about Rowoon's portrayal though is that I can't imagine anyone else portraying SJW! His comedic timing is spot on. Yes, he maybe exaggerating in most parts but those were very suitable to the character. Like the character itself is described to act that way and is such an arrogant, narcissistic, and out of touch royal. And he's sooo into it already at ep 2. Can't wait till he fully immerse into the role.
The episodes are funny so far and I'm loving how it's edited, as well as the overall cinematography too. I love the flow as well. It's rare for a romcom sageuk to be this seamless in its narration.
Wardrobe and set-wise, we're getting the typical Joseon visuals, there's nothing new. How I wish the production capitalized on that to differentiate it from other Joseon period dramas but I also understand that the Korean audience is quite sensitive as well to historical accuracy so they're sticking to the standards.
Overall, I'm definitely on board!! Premise of the story might be shallow but at least it's fresh and hasn't been tackled in any romcoms so far. I love the bromance of SJW and his sidekick too, they are both comedically in tune. Plus CYH is sooooo cute!!! Green and red are great on her.
I know Rowoon is already a good actor but in ep 1, Cho Yi Hyun surprised me. She didn't shine in her other projects, at least to me, she felt like a rookie actress then, but here, she truly embraced being an adult actor and FL at that. She had a commanding presence on cam and I'm loving her scenes so far.
Really? they look like every other clothes from other low budget historicals. They don't do it like empress ki,…
Those were from different time periods than The Matchmakers which is set in Joseon era. If you're interested in centuries earlier than the Joseon period, then you might want to watch The River Where the Moon Rises (Kim So Hyun and Na In Woo). That drama was set in Gugoryeo period. Their wardrobe and sets were amazing.
I hope the next episodes would be more funny too.

And I hate having to read fast just to catch up.

So excited to call this my new home.
The first episode was just uploaded minutes ago on Viki and Viu.
