I noticed people usually don't like academy arc on cdramas. Your reaction reminds me of the lady whose I read tumblr posts and who has been gushing about JOL2. She loved everything about the show but dreaded the exam-centered episodes 😅. Good that part didn't last long. 😁. I hope the academy arc will end quick here.

The slow motions as long as this Xiao Heng work for me because of the red and black colors ? The vibrance of the color red matches slow motions on a visual aspect for me. But when this is other characters I feel weird about it especially that annoying princess.

Am I the only one that doesn't think Xiao Heng is cold at all ? He is rather flirty and teasing even lowkeye approachable. He is more of a joker type of character that enjoys watching dramas surrounding him. The thing is he has no qualm at unaliving corrupted people (that characteristic reminds me of FanXian) and he gives me the feel of someone that also enjoys torturing people. Zhang Zhe is a character I will definitely call cold, reserved, taciturn and keeps to himself, not Xiao Heng ! That guy has no notion of distance at all ! So when you say "cold" I am lowkeye surprised. And from all accounts he perfectly embodies the character in the novel.

Zhang Zhe was so pure a litteral fairy as you said. Xiao Heng would have teased him a lot had they been in the same show. Two completely different psychologies

I wonder what Zhang Ze would have thought of Duke Su had they crossed path. He would have been like "you are a person of a very bad morality viewing people tragedies like a stage drama" and Xiao Heng would be like "well trolls like us always win the girl 🤷‍♂️🤣"

Apparently cause of censorship they couldn't keep the soul swapping stuff -kind of like JOL PD changed the transmigration story of the novel to the sci fi storyline. Also in the drama they are not in the capital, at least she is not in the capital at the beginning -reason why she begged ML to bring her to the capital.

She and her team listened to the critics and decided to start from scratch by taking smaller roles so they can learn from more experienced actors and build up her skills and career the right way. I think this is good and I applaud her team for that. They show they are not driven by their ego 👍

Guys read that tumblr page about Joy Of Life2 -I put a link of one oh her posts below- and you understand why S2 worked but in a different way from S1. Here is an example down here of how S2 was very characters driven -even more so than S1- and were more establishing in that department - Wan'er character growing a lil bit on me especially on ep 32 with LQ good acting here. Don't get me started on FanXian diverse emotions concerning things going on around him and his identity recognition - the scene when he sees his mother for the first time and his discussion with his scary darthvaderlike father that wanted his baby son to see his mom, and FX reaction to this -give ZRY his awards- , lives rent free in my head. It is one of the most touching scenes of the show imo. Talking about FX character again click the link below here whose post deals a lil bit with his
persona and it talks my mind - Fan Xian is really the son of Ye Qing Mei and the emperor. Like his dad, he can be an unforgiving cold killer -he showed this since S1 when he almost deleted Fei Jie as a kid. The difference is he doesn't kill good innocent people -look at ZRY expression on the pictures in the link below, again great acting at showing people FX also got the emperor bloody Dna. This is when I understand how f cking lucky Si Li Li was since she was part of the plot that deleted his best friend in S1. He could have unalived her if he didn't need her to answer to the myrade of questions he had about the whole situation-lucky for her that in the process he could decipher who she was aka a pitiful trapped pawn in both BeiQi and Qing so he let her go.
