Man I stopped at episode 33. Even though I have the spoilers I still want more than 2 episodes. I think it'd flow better if I watched 6 episodes at once.
should FL have followed them to the Shen mansion or should she have taken her behind home. she was just told not…
He has been known not to visit them for days.
Waiting for him is like a behaviour of s passive wife or concubine.
Its the Shen family. Why would she go home and wait? I hate passive people like that?
She has never gone into his office until today. Or that episode
She was threatened by the Emperor. If she remained quiet and did not understand the implications then she will be another cowardly character. We have a ton of characters like that in other palace dramas.
IMHO given her character... she is one that thinks more of others than herself. She will never compromise the…
Hasn't the whole drama been treating serious events lightly?
The men being exiled and the working on the mines? The torture in the Bureau? The Prince dying. Prince being suffocated and burnt. The domestic violence?
Everything has been done yet not emphasised on. The turnaround from the Shen family being punished to her breaking up was fast. They bought the wedding bed then the bed being put into storage was fast.
Even the 7 day coma was low key.
The break up significance seems on par with the way the writing is going. The aunt divorcing was done relatively well and not too traumatic.
A logical break up decision by a young woman who sees the chess pieces in life. Acceptance by a young guy who knows how the world works.
It actually seems on par with their characters that they whole thing didn’t descend into the usual histrionic. Besides it only happened today. Who knows what we'd see tomorrow and the Commander of the Security Bureau can't jolly well be crying or pleading while in his work place. Plus she purposely went to him at his work place because the break up happened because of his rank. So it wasn't written that they met later that night by the training yard and we have the whole personal privacy and tears and pleading happening.
I actually thought it was good writing. The subtle implications why the interrogation scene happened followed by the break up and them him going to the Emperor. Its all in a day's work. Literally. The timeline was practically a 24hr event.
It was a fast and brutal take down and resolution. All those long and prolonged emotional angst dramas? So happy it didn’t happened and it all came in episode 33.
Let's see what happens in episode 34. They literally just married off 3 girls and then had Shenyao progressed. Plus we still have one more girl to go.
Skimming through the comments, I think I'll skip today's episode and waiting for tomorrow instead. I don't have…
Its actually a good 2 episodes today. Yes the plot is there or rather there is the break up but its not only that. Lives goes on and other things happen. Narratively wise the break up made the whole storyline and momentum move forward.
Notice I am not even cursing ? Episode 32 and 33 made sense. Good acting and not bad writing. I think you should watch it. There are things to observe here.
I find the side story makes the drama less entertaining. I don't mind side stories in the drama but I prefer more…
Its a generational sort of family drama. I like the side plots. I have had some dramas where the 2ML or 2FL have been so irritatingl. I thought the Mr Bai and Fudong's romance was so sweet. The 2nd son's daughter's marriage story was unexpected and the 3rd son's daughter was cute.
If I had wanted to watch a Palace driven drama with blood and torture... actually no, I hate those sort of dramas. So I like all these deviations.
The break up story is evolving differently than I am used to. Its actually pretty much angst- free. They are still soldiering on so I am actually laughing at how the writer was going about it. I thought it was going to be a huge cryfest but its turning out so classy.
The way the Emperor thinks though is so convoluted. He rewarded Yanxi for obedience. I am now wondering how the writer will solve this conundrum tastefully. Rather than the usual blood, death, sacrifice, stripping of ranks usual writing.
Shen Huan is also young. You guys placed too much expectations onto his character.
You don't forget a whole lifetime of being spoilt without anyone around him showing any backbone.
He sounds like he is under 20 and parent guilt him to save the family. Why is anyone surprised? There ain't love in ancient time. Sex yes with those concubines. Love and devotion?
Every episode? Are you serious? I am about to start this drama and I've got a heavy work week this week.
Oh boy. Thanks.
I'd hold off then till I have some time or space it out with daily episodes. I am not a crybaby but I heard the acting was good here. I like both the leads but I am not a fan of melodramas. However I miss KSH quite a bit. I didn't particularly like the female lead's character in KJW's last romance so hoping this FL is better.
Anyone watching this? How is the drama so far? Enough romance? Annoying second lead? Any misunderstanding?
Well first off no one screeches in this drama. And I am actuslly terribly excited over the upcoming 5th couple. The males all have unconventional good looks. Well is plastic surgery overkill but other than that its all good.
Wow.

Thank goodness she didn't cave in.

Then we can move on with the main couple.

Nah....
Drama lesson 1.
