Me? I was just putting my replies based on the comments below. SW could be in love but she could have NOT acted on it. It was just that the comments below had to make it a physical relationship. The odd thing is that this was like the 1970-1980s conservative S Korea and we have a bisexual and lesbian relationship comments pop up here. There. I put it out in the open. I have no issues with it in real life. I am talking in the context for this drama. For that time period in Korea. I was just countering the comments below about it to say not all relationships in the world needs to involve a physical relationship. Sang Wol was like a naive person putting someone on a pedestal. She was also quite self- sacrificing. We have seen enough of these in multiple dramas.

@tpatricio93. I have zero issues about the ages of the real historical brides. I am East Asian myself by the way and from a very traditional family. One side of the family has traced its roots and a 500+ year family tree. I also have a very rare family name which links to the scholars etc. My maternal side even a family home even though it's been generations since the elders left.

The point is that its not the history. Its the fact that I've been watching 30+ year olds trying to play the 14-18 year old in the historical dramas. They look great, youthful and can act. However when you actually cast an actress who looks in that age bracket the contrast is massive. It looks like a baby or a young teenager playing grown up. Its jarring.

I have caught up. The budget is lower so I will accept it that the higher paid experienced actresses rejected the role. It's also silly. I can still watch it but I've fast forward quite a bit. At this point I've gone beyond the FL lead's looks to the male lead. I have been absolutely fascinated at the thick foundation on his face. His complexion is perfect now. I spent each scene marvellng at his face. I've stopped looking at the female lead. She reminds of a young Jung Ryeo Won.

I don't have issues with the stories. It's already silly and I am watching it. I don't care how old the character is. It's the 36 year old actor paired with a 19 year old actress. They were cast as the main leads. There are a gadzillion younger actors around. The Cdrama industry have cast enough young looking, scrawny actors and try to make them imposing or appear masculine. They do that in a lot of dramas.

There are a lot of older actresses playing 16 to 18 year olds. Some of them are over 30. So when I see a real 19 year old actress she looks like a baby. She looked so young in Youthful Glory and now she really, really looks extremely young. Even the body built is like someone from junior high school.

Was there a reason why they cast such an age difference?

That was many years ago and many weak looking female warriors and generals since then.
