I just read warning by drama fans at other platforms about trolls are coming out to make big deals about this drama, so please do not engage with toxic accounts and comments. It only ignite more fire and make MDL platform a war zone. This site is one of the last platform I still enjoy visiting except some crazy toxic accounts which everyone can block. It's best simply not to response to comments. They hate most is being ignored.

Suggestions, check their accounts before you engage, many are new to MDL. They just make new accounts to simply troll here.

I am glad there is someone thought about FL the same way. The narrative of this drama structure is LIVE more than LOVE. If you recall, FL hold the sachet her mom gave her at the end, not the red thread. Inside the sachet, there is a paper written the word of '活' means 'Live' by her mom. This drama is all about to live. She fulfilled the promise her mom asked ... live well at the end. For me, she chose '活Live' over '愛Love'. As you wrote she loved him but not as much as he did. Some viewers were not happy about it but her character is primarily driven by survival, seeking justice, and navigating systemic class barriers or family tragedy. Romance is secondary to her basic need for autonomy and safety. So I believe her trauma from Ep 1 and the heavy burdens she carries make her naturally ice-cold or reserved, leaving her little emotional bandwidth for open, sweeping romantic displays. That's my understanding of the director and screenwriter intentions.

I believe she wrote the tragic story of her Shen family, the truth and facts, and ordinary citizen watched the Chinese opera through out the generations, After 113 yrs later, people must have send the petitions to imperial court and public pushed future (after 113 yrs later) Emperor to restore the good name for Shen family.

Completed ! What a journey of Lan Xiang. From the plot to the screenplay, the directing and the actings, it was a flawless production in every way. Unlike typical idol dramas, I was moved by the mature, understated romance and the female lead’s determination to survive—having faced death—by solving problems and overcoming obstacles in a discreet, unassuming, and intelligent way. In the first episode, I assumed it was going to be yet another typical revenge drama common in Chinese period dramas, but I’m really glad it wasn’t. It might have ended up being just another cliché. This drama was a delightful portrayal of the life of a woman in Ming Dynasty.

Some wrote review and said most boring and low IQ ppl watch this, but I have IQ 125 😂

*the opera scene was hard part. Many ppl got confused the the point. I had to watch twice and read really good explanation here. I will make it short and easy ;

Male lead : he wants power, high ranks,family name to climb the position so he's been loyal to current Emperor and he got promoted. He and his grandfather are only focusing to it.

Female lead : during the Ming Dynasty, Eunuch had highest power, if you recall, Lin sisters wanted to buy land but Eunuch were kept buying the land? So FL point is even ML is so loyal to Emperor, but greedy Eunuch can trick such loyal officers and destroyed them. (here after per AI explanation) She directly challenges the Confucian ideals of unwavering loyalty, arguing that imperial authority does not justify the senseless destruction of families—a pain she knows intimately after her own family's massacre
