Ep 40, what an amazing episode gain ! I watched so many family tone-apart story due to money and jealousy kind of drama all the time, but this Lin Family is one of a kind. So refleshing ! It's because Female lead's cleverness and her surviving skills come from her saddest experience and also the love of ML for her. Nothing sad but I cried again. This drama always touches my inner soul. And thanks to Maquis Y! You are similar person ! Not all ancient family especially the high ranking family were bad 😂 BTW if you love this drama, I recommend 'A dream of splendor'. That's also a beautiful stories of three woman survival and love of class gap of main leads. Liu Yifei and Chen Xiao 💕

I felt Ep 39 was a perfect episode to conclude that two main leads with two different paths finally meet at the same place to decide spending the rest of their life together 💕 Not all romance needs physical touching like kisses and so, but this couple are truly in different situation to start their marriage life. The opera scene was made wonderful satisfied. Thanks to Tong Hua , you are an amazing writer. This drama makes me feel like reading an actual book 📕

I would say two totally different type of dramas. One is revenge centered and this one is female life story to survive. Both are equally good.

Ahaha... C-daras used to be around 60-80 eps, Gov changed the rules and topped 40. Again Gov recently lifted and allow to make more than 40 episodes. So for long time C-drama watchers, 40 was drastic cut, now this is 47, we are happy when drama is this good.

Right? Ming Dynasty has like 16 Emperors ! Anyway, Song, Tang are pretty peaceful dynasty per my research.

I checked the ancient Chinese history and found that officers and its family downfalls (including wiping out entire family and relatives) were recorded, especially during the Ming Dynasty to assess absolute control of court. However, during the Song Dynasty, it was more civilized way to deal with the situation by stripping the rank or exile to far land. It was also said, during the Ming Dynasty, officers' salary were low, and they had to earn extra income by having shops and businesses. That being said there were many corrupt officers 😢 I believe this drama is based in during Ming Dynasty. I bet we are watching pretty realistic history drama. I need to check who were the Emperors during this period !!!

If I am not mistaken, this drama is set during Ming dynasty. If I am correct, cremation was illegal... so maybe to be accurate for permission to broadcast, it had to be burial? Even she said to burned? It needed to enhance the dramatic situations before her passing? That's my guess .... I wonder if there is anyone who is more deep in analysis on this issue..
